During my trip to the island, this convenient little shop had just about everything I needed. Also worth mentioning(and what really prompted my review) is that they have the best prices and variety for souvenirs. Among my selections were t-shirts, wood carvings, jewelry and chocolate macadamia nuts at about 50%+ less than some of the other shops in the area.

Great little larger than 7 – 11 store with wine, beer, and adorable gifts and trinkets.

Price gouging at it’s very worst. Purchased a first aid product late at night. Found the same product the next morning at Big Save for half the price. $ 14 here. $ 7 at Big Save. Drive the extra mile. Just because you’re in a tourist locale, don’t rip people off. Unkind.

Buyer beware. Very unhelpful clerk. Nobody in store, about 10AM this morning, yet she wouldn’t come to the register to make the sale, even after I asked her if she would help us. Don’t know what I said to solicit that attitude? So I walked out. There are 1000 other places on this island where I can buy a can of macadamia nuts. No Aloha Spirit in this store.

Hello! It’s Hawaii… things are going to be more expensive. But I gotta tell ya, this place is a wonderful place to end up after you see the prices at the hotels nearby. I really appreciate them being there and thought the prices were pretty awesome considering. They have a little bit of everything… woot!

It’s a great idea to buy supplies here and cook in your room if you have the capability and this place has what you need. Pancakes, pineapple juice, plus great sandwiches and pastries that are often on sale — gotta love a cheap chocolate croissant!

All your usual Haw sundries and souvenirs, plus some great vintage reproduction postcards.

Great staff. They were very helpful. We did not end up buying anything as it seemed a little pricer than other mom and pop stores. However they have everything you want to make it a day or night.

Kauai’s answer to the ubiquitous ABC stores found on the rest of the islands. Walkable from our resort and we ended up here several times during our trip :-)

I work in the Poipu Shopping Mall. There was a woman who tripped outside of the store and seriously hurt her ankle. She went in to ask for a plastic bag so she could grab some ice. The lady(I’m guessing the manager) seemed very reluctant to give her a bag at first. After she put a little bit of ice in the bag from the Soda machine, the Manager asked her to pay 50 cents for the ice. Seriously? How inhumane can you be? What if the Managers kid got hurt and needed ice for an injury? Would she seriously charge herself for the ice? She was very rude during the entire incident. This is the reason I suggest people to go to Big Save instead of spending their money in a place run by someone with no Aloha!

PROVISIONS(food, beer, fruit, wine, T-shirts, rum…) Finding this place was a godsend. Fair island prices for your vacation needs. Especially if you are traveling with the little one. If staying at one of the surrounding resorts stop in the first day or two, you won’t regret it.

Expensive. Kind of the place if you don’t want to drive 5 minutes more up the road to the supermarket, you’ll run in to grab something. They have most of the normal touristy needs and even fresh produce. Good to have close by to the resorts, stay open later than most retail places in area.

The Kauai version of a Duane Reade. You won’t find any bargains but it is kind of nice to find a little bit of everything under one roof, particularly when you are on vacation and don’t want to waste a lot of time shopping.

If you need it, they have it. I went in on our last day in Kauai for some last minute take home goodies and was pleased. The selection and prices were both good. Jewelry, t-shirts, wood items, candy, coffee and items you may need while vacationing. soaps, hair products etc. Just like another reviewer said, it’s like a CVS for tourists.

Whalers General Store is like a mini CVS, Riteaid or Walgreens, but for tourists. From alcohol, snacks, souvenirs, toiletries, they offer a little bit of everything. The prices here are definitely higher than going to your typical grocery store, but they place these type of stores in touristy areas so it’s more for convenience if anything.

Basically came here when we needed water, booze, or snacks.(: It was super convenient and easy since we were staying at the poipu villas. They have a bit of everything. …that’s pretty much all i can say about it.(:

It’s a Whalers. Which is the same as an ABC store, right? Not a bad place, a little bit of everything. Plenty of «condo food», souvenirs, and booze. Ok, so my favorite cheap Sauv Blanc was $ 3 more a bottle than at Big Save… but we are talking CONVENIENCE here, people.

Great place to pick up bottled water for much cheaper than the hotels. Checkers were okay but seemed a little timid. Asked one if there were any coffee shops around besides Starbucks, and she seemed VERY scared and was also not helpful… Other than that, good place to pick up little things you may have forgotten.
