What a lovely little B&B in the Maui upcountry, so far from the mega touristey resort culture of Maui’s west coast. You may not be near a beach, but you’re in a great spot to get up at 4am and see that gorgeous sunrise at Haleakala. Sue, the owner, knows that and so everything is ready to make getting up at 4am easier — a map with shortcuts and tips, breakfast ready in tupperware in your fridge the night before to grab with you, all the warm clothes and blankets you’ll need for the sunrise(and trust me, you WILL need them! bring your own hat, gloves, scarf too) without packing in your suitcase, and then a cozy bed to come back to when you’re exhausted from your day of hiking a volcano. We also used the different Hawaii music CDs driving around the island and the narrated CD for our Road to Hana trip, which was kind of cheesy but we loved it. If anyone is there and can look at the CD and tell us the name of the company who made it, we would greatly appreciate it! We have fond memories listening to the narrator we dubbed«Roberta». Keep in mind that unlike a typical B&B, Hawaiian B&B breakfasts are typically made up of fresh fruits and pastries, not hot entrees. At the same time, unlike a typical B&B you don’t have to make small talk with strangers at the breakfast table — your breakfasts are nice and private in a nook in your room. Perfect for honeymooners like us who relish privacy, and know we wouldn’t have gotten it in a big resort. The other reviewer says cash only — we paid with a check though. Just no credit cards. One more thing — if you’re a diver keep in mind this B&B is at a high altitude so you may want to relocate downcountry if you’re trying to dive. If you’re not diving, well then you’re fine!

WELOVED the room, very unique and charming without being overly«girly» as my boyfriend would say :-) You do feel as if you’re in a treehouse. Great deal for those who want do to the Haleakala sunrise. The owner was super nice and thought of EVERYTHING for our Haleakala sunrise trip — she had our breakfast all packed and ready, and gave us jackets to wear along with mittens and everything. The only thing to mention is that this is CASHONLY. We had to make a pit stop at an ATM to pay for the place, but otherwise, everything is perfect!
