Chris is everything you look for in a home inspector — diligent, detail oriented and easy to work with. He can usually provide fast turnaround times at a great price with to-​the-​point, detailed reports that give my buyers the advantage of knowing exactly what they are buying, what is truly important vs what is just needing some basic maintenance or attention going forward. I have used him on multiple deals, he is accommodating and easy to work with. He truly knows residential construction and can help my buyers understand in great detail the items that need immediate attention in the contract or negotiation vs things that can be dealt with a trip the hardware store after closing or just require keeping an eye on. All too often, inspectors are looking to prove how much they know or blow totally inconsequential items out of proportion — after 23 years in this business I have seen it all. I have seen one get a buyer whipped into a frenzy over «leaves in the gutter» and one cracked tile. Not Chris, steady, focused, provides what we need to know without distraction or embellishment.

I’ve used Chris Metting for inspecting two houses that I was looking to buy in Austin. I highly recommend him to anyone looking for a very thorough inspection. He’s very professional and meticulous and an all around nice guy. During one of the inspections, the owner had not turned the gas on, so he could not inspect the water heater and furnace. But once it was turned on the next day, Chris returned to the house promptly to complete the inspection and didn’t even ask for extra money due to the extra trip he had to make.
I’ve used other inspectors in Austin, but they have not been as thorough as Chris.
