Went Wednesday night for karaōke. The karaōke was a blast! Christine was fantastic! I can’t say the same for the service though. We sat at a table and had two waitresses waiting on us. After I started ordering water both waitresses stopped coming to our table. We waited 45 minutes for them to come back to our table and gave up. They both would stand at the end of the bar talking and we would look back at them hoping they would notice us. I went to the bar to order more drinks and poured myself some water from a pitcher that was sitting at the end of the bar. I’m not a regular there and was hoping to be, I noticed the waitresses were paying close attention to the rest of the tables that obviously had regulars there. The drinks are very pricey. I paid $ 8 for a Jaeger bomb, I usually pay $ 6– $ 7.00 at bars in Austin or Manchaca. I gave this review three stars for the karaōke, the kj, and the atmosphere. Not sure if I’ll be back again.

This place is so cute! Maybe that is a bad way to describe a bar lol. But this place is what I think of when I think Texas. Has great customer service, good bar area, karaōke on Wens at 8pm, BBQ eater inside(no chicken/poultry), and even ok for kids before 10pm. They have a stage and have life music too. I was there past 10pm and there were tons of kids there for a giant birthday party. so really depends on the night. The karaōke lady is awesome and it looks like there are regulars that come too. I am glad that Kyle has a place like this. This was a great choice for my mom’s bday.

Seems like a cool bar and I’m looking forward to the live music but just can’t see how a owner/bar manager could let a place run out of Dos XX, Coors light and bud light ! Those are 3 top sellers and many customers have been disappointed. There’s really no explanation considering they can run down the street and buy from the local store to satisfy the customers.

Good place to meet people, watch out for the crew… not as friendly. Other than that great place

Great drinks, great people, the music is absolutely wonderful. I grew up in west Texas and when I walk in the door I feel like I’m home. I love the old rustic building and it’s about damn time Kyle, Texas opens up a real bar!

Down South Railhouse is an homage to the great old school ice houses of the past. Casual atmosphere and good outdoor area if it isn’t too hot. Excellent venue to listen to a band. We watched Jenny Parrot and Meatloaf Spaceship here and this was the perfect place to sit back, drink a beer and listen to a great band.

This place has tons of charm! I could absolutely love it. A few flaws would be inconsistent service, sometimes a waitress comes to our table and sometimes not. We just go to the bar ourselves instead(I’m sure it’s still a learning experience as it is a new place). The drinks are pretty overpriced for not being in downtown Austin which would be easier to swallow if they were decent drinks, but they’re just okay. It’s nice to have food options, but seems quite pricey. It would be nice to see a few cheaper options for those that just want a snack. It would also be nice to have more short tables for disabled folks who can’t sit at the bar top tables with ease. The AC was broken last week, but at least they brought in a bunch of fans. I have to say, we couldn’t tolerate it for long, not in 100 degree weather so I hope they’ve gotten it fixed by now. Hope to see a lot more variety on some awesome local country musicians, it’s the perfect environment for it! Love the karaōke and that it’s family friendly.

One of the best down home customer service bars and dance places. Met Brad the owner he stopped to greet us and ask if there was anything we needed. Fun place for the whole family.

Taking up space in the roadside attraction known as Railroad BBQ, Down South Roadhouse did a great job in revamping the place. The makeover was much needed as the former occupants seemed to have not updated the look since about 1982. A big porch with seating wraps around the front for those who like to sit outside & inside, there’s a stage, plenty of seating, & an sacrificed oak-tree that was made into a bar. Only complaint about the bar is that the seats were way too low. Made me(a 6-foot tall adult male) feel like a little kid sitting at the dinner table. Either booster seats or new, taller stools, are needed. Otherwise, the staff is friendly & they are trying hard to make a name for themselves in the greater Kyle/Buda area. As of yet, they do not serve food but the old smokehouse from Railroad is still there & en-tact, so they could operate as a BBQ joint if they really wanted to. But don’t fret over that as they do have food trailers on the property. There was only 2 when I stopped by but I have seen more when I’ve driven by before. According to their signs, they do have cover charges in the evenings for their nightly live music acts but not during lunch & happy hours.

Great place to have a good time with friends and great bands! We need something like this in Kyle for sure! I do think the drinks are a little pricy though. If they would offer ½ priced shots when a train goes by instead of $ 5.00 then it would be better but I’m sure just starting out they will work through some of the kinks. Thank you so much for opening up your place in Kyle!

Took a look afternoon of march 5th the soft opening of this new business on center st kyle .one of the co owners *Brad Neumann *was kind enough to spend sometime out of his busy schedule to show me around and talk about the great things planned for the future at this venue, the new owners have done a excellent job of preserving the ambiance off this very old building it has so much old country charm that was preserved and the new paint job on the outside only adds to its appeal . did not stop long but returned in the evening parking was a problem to find the place ROCKING packed to bursting point with people the live music and friendly attentive staff made me feel welcome as soon as i walked in the door when the place is finished the huge outdoor area will have games for the kids /and adults a outdoor stage. lots of seating, places to park .and much more prices are reasonable i got a heinaken beer for less than $ 5 which compared to other family venues in nearby neigborhoods that dont include live music is very good value . food is purchased from food trucks situated outside but i understand from Brad the building joined to the main structure at the back will one day be a kitchen . they will be offering live music most nights ** see facebook page for schedule cant wait for the grand opening march 14th i can see this will be the premier place in kyle for family entertainment it will have something for everyone in the family and add much needed sales tax to the city coffers

March 5, 2015 was the«soft opening» of Kyle’s newest entertainment venue that takes the place of the long-standing Railroad BBQ. They have some big shoes to fill, and it looks like they’re going to to a great job. Outside, they gave the building a fresh coat of paint and replaced the big«Bar-B-Que» sign along the back of the building with a ginormous Texas Flag. It was sad to see the old sign go, but the fresh paint looks good on that old building. On the inside, they have done an amazing job of revamping the place. They kept the old-school roadhouse look but updated with a new flow. There’s a nice sized stage in the corner, a full bar, and plenty of seating… and even more space for dancing. Gone is the restaurant inside, traded instead for a food truck area outside the venue. I picked up a «Ybor Sandwich» and cup of soup at the Café Ybor Food Bus for $ 7 and went inside to eat and look around. There was also a BBQ trailer that my friend ordered a sausage wrap from. and enjoyed. Great digital jukebox that had everything from Darrell Scott and George Strait to Meghan Trainor and Metallica. I was there at lunch so the jukebox provided the music, but at 4p –close they had live music. Now, it was the soft opening, so they were still putting the final touches on the place in preparation for their Grand Opening on March 14, 2015… but I could more then see the potential. The outside area isn’t yet complete, but they plan to put in horseshoes, washers, a children’s playground, a stage for outdoor music. When the outdoor area is finished I can see hanging out there on a summer evening while the kids play on the playground and sipping on the brew-du-jour. Really looking forward to making this a solid hang-out in Kyle, Texas.
