Although Christie’s liquor is nowhere near as great as Verdugo Liquor over there in Montrose, this place gets honorable mention for a few reasons. 1. It has my name on it, and it’s even spelled right!(Christie is my first name) 2. I used to buy cigarettes here sometimes in high school. 3. I still have friends who live up here in La Crescenta, and sometimes I’ll swing by here to pick up some beverages on my way. The last time my boyfriend and I swung by here, there was a horde or young dudes hanging out in the parking lot smoking cigarettes. We went inside, where I found a nice six pack of some good stout that was brewed in San Diego. Joe, who was hoping to kick it up a couple of notches, picked up a four pack of Sparks.(This was before the real Sparks was taken off the market.) Well, not only does their cash register have an automated voice, the automated voice has an Armenian accent! He scanned the Sparks three times, and each time a voice shouted out, «ITEMNOTFOUND.» It was such an oddity that I had to run outside and chuckle. In either case, this is an all right liquor store to patronize if you’re in the neighborhood and need to buy craft brew and caffeinated malt liquor.(RIP, Sparks.)
