I have been coming here for years. Family-owned, great customer service, fantastic wine and beer selection and very convenient. Don’t bother with 7 – 11, come here!

They totally ripped me off the tequila I bought was $ 20 – 30 cheaper everywhere else, to add insult to injury they totally misquoted the ABC law when I tried to do a return. Despite proving they were incorrect regarding legal returns on alcohol and explaining I was returning the tequila due to their inflated pricing their response was«we are in they La Jolla what do you expect». Check prices before you buy here unless you are in the mood to pay way more than you should.

Liquor box is more of an institution in La Jolla than an actual liquor and grocery store. I have literally grown up here over the years. It is a family run business and they provide some of the quality hard to find items you can’t get elsewhere. Highly recommended!

They have a decent selection of beer but not much for liquor. The store is a bit on the dirty side and out dated.

The Liquor Box… owned by two brothers who are so super cool and laid back, it makes it so welcoming every time I come in! I’d rather go to them than 7 – 11 across the way but sometimes they aren’t open early enough! Again super cool local liquor shop… choice beers and liquor, chips, my ginger ale, hahaha, really cool and nice brothers that run the shop!(One brother has the coolest sounding deep voice… it’s awesome when he just says Hi how are ya today! Lol)

Great spot, great craft beer selection!!! A lot of wine to choose from, my wife always asks Ron for his preferences because he’s so knowledgable on the selection. The liquor selection and champaign is looking good. Check it out!

I like the name. The store is ok. Nothing really stands out about it. But I have not had any bad experiences here either.

Great selection of liquor and wine. Very good peeps down here at liquor box. This liquor store is organized and in a central location so I always access to my bottle of Johnnie Walker Black Label. They also keep it very clean and they know me by name too. Last summer I even went there to buy beach activities stuff and some t-shirts that say liquor box. I was in London once and wearing the Liquor Box shirt and someone came up to me and said thats liquor box in la jolla mate? I said yea mate, its international too? Thanks Liquor Box!!!

Dude’s a theif. I expect this in TJ, not LJ. He overcharges on troken items such as milk by 25%. Normally people don’t catch him, but when I called him out he made up some BS how«it must of been my brother who gave you the wrong price before.» Please dude, you sit there each day and every day and prices don’t fluctuate on the weather. Go across the street to 7 Eleven or up LJBlvd to the other Liquor store, don’t go here.

I give this place 4 stars because it was one of the stops on Mike and my first date– we’ve been here many times afterwards when we lived in Windansea. Convenient– but not the cheapest. I took out one star because they changed their sign… :-(

The Liquor Box… I don’t know which was first, but it seems there was a competition between Liquor Box, Jug Liquor and Dicks Liquor over who could come up with the most sexually innuendoed name. Unless there is a city ordinance, we’ll undoubtedly see the likes of Ball’s Liquor, Liquor Hole, and others before we’re through. Anyway, Liquor Box is as good or bad as the others. Not much different. I think the Windansea locals like it, but let’s hear what they have to say.
