Great casual place. Great outdoor dining. Healthy options. Great service. Highly recommend this place.

Been coming here for 15 years, same smiley faces and great service. The food is good and fresh. I love the hummus, cucumber salad and tabouli. The chicken and meat skewers are also yummy.

This is the best fresh grill place in La Jolla. The grilled salmon is the best you can get anywhere. Try the chicken soup too. It is fantastic

This is probably a new favorite restaurant to go to. The food is amazing and the service is just as amazing. Me and a friend came here to eat because we heard it was a really good place and it turned out to be better than good. All in all, I really recommend this place for anyone looking for good food.

If you are looking for a great Mediterranean restaurant in La Jolla, look no further than this little gem tucked away in a non descript shopping center. We ordered the kale caesar salad with salmon, the crispy bowl with chicken, and veggie and chicken skewers with a side of hummus. The food was amazing and the price point was very inexpensive.

The Veggie Kabob Plate with White Rice was Fantastic! So flavorful and juicy. My boyfriend got the chicken, which can be dry with rice so the Veggie Plate was perfect! Definitely will try the Baba ghanoush next time!

Ordered the filet mignon wrap and sadly this was not good. Meat tasted too chewy and it was wrapped heavily with lavash bread. Also tried the beef koobideh plate with cucumber tomato salad and it tasted way too lemony. The beef koobideh was burned couldn’t swallow it easily. Last plate was the lamb kabob and Salad. This plate was served heavily with rice and salad and came with one skewer of lamb. Food was overwhelming with food and the papwr plate couldn’t hold the weight. Staff was nice but did not help in making a decision as it has been years since we’ve been in. If you are hoping to get good persian food this isn’t the place.

One of my favorite places to eat in all of San Diego! Everything is fresh and amazing and the people running the show are so genuine and wonderful! I highly recommend the herb rice, hummus and the chicken vegetable soup but all of their salads and kabobs are phenomenal too! Get there and even have a beer or wine if y’all want too!!!

We love Marketplace Grill! Anytime you want to-go or a casual Persian/Mediterranean food for a reasonable price, this is the place to come! It is located in a small strip mall in La Jolla with other restaurants such as Rimel’s and Porkyland. They also have locations in Mira Mesa and Carmel Valley for those of you more north. There is a small parking lot(but tiny spaces) and street parking. Most of the seating is outdoors. We see the owner every time outside greeting guests and hanging out with folks. The employees are always friendly and helpful too. We love their chicken kabob(made with only white meat and seasoned perfectly), ground sirloin(made with top grade meat, doesn’t have that gamy taste that other meats have), and salmon. Their shirazi and tabouleh salad are both fresh and delicious too. I think they have amazing hummus because it’s thick and less oily than others. The food is cooked to order and very healthy. Nothing fancy but down right delicious!

This is the best salmon bowl I’ve had, hands down. This was referred to me by one of their neighbors. Excellent

Worst hummus I’ve ever had! Horrible. Expensive as well. $ 16 for plate and hummus. Ice berg lettuce. No drink. Go to porkyland or other place next door.

I love this place, it’s a small hole in the wall in La Jolla, but very worth it. Their kabobs and plates are so delicious! The place is very tiny inside so it’s best to order and grab a seat outside. For a small mom/pop shop this place is super authentic and has great food. Highly recommend!

First and foremost, the staff was very friendly and helpful! It was our first time and my boyfriend and I both enjoyed the service and our meal. We got hummus, a beef and chicken plate with herb rice and shirazi salad, and a filet plate with salad and white rice. Very filling! Parking was a little rough, but overall it was a great experience.

I’ve been eating here for almost 10 years so this review is long overdue. Outstanding food quantity Every. Single. Time. This place is an absolute gem. Very healthy, extremely tasty, great portions and reasonably priced. As I mentioned in my review for their carmel valley location, the chicken literally melts in your mouth. I donno how they do it, and the veggies(I prefer squash & zucchini on my skewers) are hands-down the tastiest, most juicy, succulent pieces of deliciousness ever. Seriously, if you haven’t been here, you’re missin out. Also, lemme just take a quick sec to say that last time my hubby & I came by our 3 year-old was in a mood. You know, one of those, Just-up-from-a-nap-&-I’m-gonna-complain-about-everything-just to make-life-miserable moods? He freaked out b/c the rice was too white or something and, the man I assume to be the owner or manager, went next door and got my kid a cookie to try to make him happy. I mean, really? That’s just amazing. So a HUGETHANKYOU to that guy and all the people who work there making such phenomenal deliciousness for us to eat! Bravo!

Great Mediterranean food. I get the chicken kebab w an additional steak kebab. There’s a ground beef steak kebab and a filet steak kebab and I like the ground beef one much better. Comes with rice which is awesome. Small café w a couple of tables inside and a few outside. Perfect lunch spot.

Went here for the first time last week and now I’m hooked! The kale salad is chopped nice and fine so that the delicious lemony dressing coats it perfectly. and it’s grilled! The flavor is so so yummy. I subbed out chicken on mine for the salmon kabob. Did not regret. Amazing. Oh, and the owner snuck some baba ghanoush in my to go order free of charge because I mentioned that I love it. Stoked I found a new lunch/dinner spot close to work & home. Great food and great customer service.

Was feeling a Mediterranean rumble and gave this place a shot Nice outdoor seating with respectable clientele, all drinking wine.(Yup… DTLJ) Friendly staff that suggested a couple items, The items all looked similar, and would likely taste similar when lathered in tzatziki so I just ordered the recommended The food was great and seemed a lot healthier than my usual Yum! Edit: roasted tomatoes

I won’t eat at marketplace grill any more because when they fire up the smoker, it pollutes the air I am breathing.)-; They do make good sandwiches, and I had a fresh fish sandwich wrap on my last visit. But I had to eat it outside with the smoke. Smoke gives me a headache and bothers my allergies. So 4 stars for the food, but I’m subtracting 2 stars because they smoke up the air, which also affects customers at nearby businesses. One nearby business has a no smoking sign. That’s ironic. Dear marketplace grill, if you get rid of the smoke pollution, I’ll return as a customer. Thank you.
