For once I’m very thankful for bumper to bumper traffic. As we were sitting in traffic, I noticed a line a people on the sidewalk, in front of a very small restaurant. I parked because I had to taste what the hype was all about. Thank goodness I did!!! Possibly the best burrito I’ve ever eaten in my entire life! And I’ve eaten at some expensive restaurants to some in Mexico, and this place by far has the best burritos! We chose the Surf & Turf. The Shrimp and steak was so frickin tasty! Both were in chunks and seasoned perfect. I could probably eat one a week. The deep fried fish taco was absolutely delicious too! The place is small but who the hell cares about square footage when the food is so damn delicious! The homemade churros are crazy yummy! You must try them to. They serve it with a side of dulce Leche. I seriously recommend this place and for you to bookmark it for your next trip to La Jolla!

Love this place! Carne Asada Fries = Yes! The cheese sauce on the fries is delicious. Pick up the salsas & drinks in the back. Huge portions, good prices. It’s a small place so be prepared to wait in line. It’s worth the wait. California Burrito is awesome too! Get both… :)

This is a high-quality, hole-in-the-wall taco spot. The guacamole is outstanding. The chips are very crispy. Everything is fresh. Expect a line.

This place is super busy so expect a bit of a line. But the service is pretty fast. If you are in la jolla and must have Mexican fast food then this place might do the trick unless you want drive a bit east or even south otherwise it’s aight. The food is good and tasty but nothing amazing. They have a salsa bar that have some verity of salsas to enjoy, and chips and guacamole is good. Because it’s in la jolla the prices are a bit high. Got a Cali burrito, 4 tacos, chips and guacamole and it was $ 32.

This place is a little place called heaven! Omylordy the food is fast and tasty. The lines get very long but the wait is totally worth it. Every time Im in San Diego, I try to stop by here for them battered fish tacos… And those holy Carne Asada fries and Asada burritos!!! Ok so I’m in love with Mexican food and this place is THEPLACE to go when you’re in the area! And don’t get me started with the Service. I mean it’s beyond excellent! The guys are awesome and fast.

Mm mm good. Probably one of the best burritos I’ve see eaten. The first thing that stuck out was how cheap it was. There’s a 15% discount with check-in and burrito was already pretty cheap. Plus with the combo(I got the California burrito), a drink is only $ 0.50 or so more. The horchata wasn’t the best I’ve had, but it was pretty good for an unlimited refill. For just the price, it was already a good deal, but that’s not what makes it so good. The meat was of really good quality, cooked to the perfect texture. The fries were perfectly crispy and there was plenty of guacamole. And not only is the California burrito good, but the surf and turf and the carne asada fries were really good. I tried some of my friend’s fries and they had the same quality meat and crispy fries. Anything with shrimp was really good. I was in a group of 9 and they all said it was one of the best, if not the best, burritos or tacos or carne asada fries they’ve had.

Best burritos in La Jolla. The Taco Stand is delicious Mexican fast food. Food is made fresh to order. Great location less than 1 mile from La Jolla Cove. The salsa bar is so good, you can get a big bag of chips for $ 3 and eat the unlimited salsa. My favorite is the pink chipotle sauce. All the sauces are great.

I’m a frequent at Taco Stand, coming here about once a month. Even though it’s a small shop I love that they provide a few tables and chairs indoor so you can enjoy your food fresh regardless of weather. I’ve tried basically every tacos here. My favorite is the carne asada. Their meat is seasoned perfectly and the tortillas are always fresh. Al pastor and baja fish tacos are pretty good as well. Remember to grab their cilantro mayo and cilantro may sauces. I took extra home sometimes because they’re that good. Lastly, don’t forget to get their made to order churros! Dip it in condensed milk and enjoy it fresh and hot. TASTESLIKEHEAVEN. Sometimes they sell out too so order while it last!

So incredible and authentic. I swear there was a whole fish filet on my taco. You almost have to eat the tacos with a fork. They are packed full of your meat choice. Take advantage of the sauce bar many different sauces to choose from. You do not need it for your tacos but you can buy a bag of chips or a basket of chips. Portions are huge of chips and guacamole. Do not let the line scare you away. It goes fast. Prices are so great. Food is made fresh. Tortillas are huge. Pork is shaved right in front of you. Only a few options for vegetarians such as cheese quesadilla and cactus. Cheese is on everything even guac so you have to request it not to be.

I came here on a Monday evening around 6:30pm. Parking wasn’t too hard to find, though the line was out the door! Despite the length of the line, we ordered in about ten minutes and received our food shortly after. Being full Mexican and growing up in a primarily Mexican community, I take my tacos very seriously! I ordered two tacos al pastor and one carne asada taco with corn tortillas. They ended up being delicious, though I definitely feel that this taco shop is much more americanized. The aesthetic inside of the shop — Frida Kahlo paintings, Mexican music, and other aspects — used many Mexican staples, though everything was quite staged to fit a stereotypical taco shop. All else aside, the cashier and staff were incredibly helpful, though I would recommend visiting another taco shop if you’d like something more authentic.

As soon as I landed in San Diego my local and fellow foodie friend Becca drove directly to The Taco Stand. Actually she told me well before I arrived that was the plan and we must get the Mar y Tierra fries! Words cannot describe how amazing they were. Piping hot, crunchy fries covered in cheesy goodness, guacamole, carne asada, grilled shrimp, sour cream and clearly lots of love. Basically a Mexican poutine! It’s enormous for less than $ 10 — we split one order and couldn’t finish it. I also tried their corn on the cob which was also HUGE. Sweet corn slathered with mayo, parmesan cheese and chili powder. So so so good! Service was fast and friendly. Check-in on Unilocal and get 15% off. Will definitely be back!

i don’t personally eat a ton of Mexican food, so take this review for what it’s worth. I ordered the Nopal(cactus/veggie) taco and corn on the cob(which had chili powder, mayo, and something else). Everything is made to order, which means no overheated munchies heading your way. There’s also a buffet bar with lime wedges and different sauces to put on your tacos. If you don’t eat Mexican food, it might be best to stick with a quesadilla. I wanted to try some new things but wasn’t overly impressed with my Nopal taco.

The pescado taco here is pretty good. While a bit dry, it’s got good flavor and a really tasty sauce, and definitely beats your standard chain fish taco. But the al pastor taco is one of the best I’ve ever had. It’s greasy in the best way, a just-right level of spicy, and gets a huge kick from the pineapple. I’ll be getting another one(or more) next time for sure! I also shared an order of churros with a friend, and I can now say that eating them fresh out of the fryer is life changing.

This place is sooo good! I’ve been here twice now, once for the Cali burrito and second for the al pastor tacos. The steak in the Cali burrito is unlike any other taco shop. You can tell the difference between real Angus beef and the other guys. The al pastor tacos are huge and definitely worth the price. Comes with pastor, pineapple, cilantro, onion, and their yummy cilantro salsa. I also add their pico and the chipotle salsa. I work nearby so I will definitely be coming back for the yummy food. Minus one star because the guy taking orders is definitely not the friendly kind of guy. Just wants to take your order and be gone. Maybe he should be cooking and hirer a nicer cashier that actually likes to interact with guests. Just throwing that out there.

I went around 7:40pm on a Tuesday and there was plenty of seating(it may get tricky for large groups because the place is not very big). We checked in, ordered, and used our 15% off coupon(thanks Unilocal!). I had 2 carne asada tacos(with cheese) and an al pastor taco. This place is very consistent and the food is always great. Portions are pretty big so I think the prices are very reasonable. They have a variety of sauces at the self-serve bar. I always get the cilantro sauce and the chipotle sauce :) We waited only 10 – 15 minutes to get our food so it wasn’t bad at all. Parking can be tough since they share a small space with a couple of other restaurants so your best bet is street parking. I’ll definitely be back! Maybe next time I’ll try the churros since I always see people getting them :)

The Taco Stand is a great place to grab a bite. I stopped in today at lunch. I was in the area and have wanted to give them a try. Parking was a pain. It was raining and I didn’t want a walk so it took about 15 minutes to get a spot. Once parking was behind me, things improved. The restaurant is relatively small in a strip center on a busy section of Pearl Street. The interior is well designed with a casual, fun and friendly feel. The guy working the counter was friendly. There was a small line when I arrived and he did a great job of getting in orders quickly. Order complete, I grabbed a spot on a stool at the window. Seating is fairly limited and with poor weather making the outside space uninviting, it was probably more full than usual. I ordered three tacos: al pastor, carne asada and Baja. The al pastor taco was easily the standout. It had the best blend of flavors with great spice from the pork balanced nicely with the onion, cilantro and pineapple. I will definitely stop in again.

I can’t believe I’ve never been to this taquería stand! They’ve been open since 2013 and have another location in downtown, but I wanted to check out the original one first. My friends arrived first, so they asked what I wanted and ordered for me since the line was getting long. We got the carne asada taco, al pastor tacos, Sonora taco, and carne asada fries. Since we sat at the«bar,» I can see them make the corn tortillas, grill the flavorful meats, and season the corn. Everything looked so yummy and when our order was ready, I couldn’t wait to dig in… The tacos were delicious, but I didn’t like the tortillas very much. Surprisingly none of the stuff we ordered needed any of the fresh salsas I added. My favorite were the fries– they were so bomb… especially since they added Cajun seasoning and were very crispy and thick. I didn’t eat as much as usual, but was so full! I’m bummed that the churro machine was broken and am definitely coming back to try other items on their menu… Now I can enjoy authentic and yummy Mexican food without having to drive all the way down to Chulajuana!

GETTHEALPASTORTACO! They have the best one(next to Tacos El Gordo) and its in DT La Jolla and you don’t have to drive all the way down south. Parking is a little tough(street parking), but well worth it for this amazing taco place. Their sauces are delicious and perfectly compliment everything. Portioning of the meat in the tacos have been hit or miss at times. Sometimes they will be decent and other times they will be a bit skimpy. But tastewise, tacos are delicious! Another thing worth trying is their freshly, homemade churros that they fry up right as you order it! SOGOOD, they perfectly resemble the authentic churros from TJ! They also have some pretty delicious carne asada fries if you want to stray away from tacos. Overall, great service, high quality tacos, but location a bit inconvenient to get to. However, WELL worth it when you are hungry and majorly craving tacos! :D

Still giving this place a 5 even though the service is literally a 3… no one can resist good Mexican food! Finally got to come here in person on 2⁄20 around 5PM. There was already a decent line out the door! If it wasn’t for the cashier boy, I’m sure it would have gone a lot faster since the kitchen was on top of their game. We ordered: –2 al pastor tacos //YUM like always! Not as much pineapple infused like last time, but meat was plentiful, juicy! Tortilla is delicious too! –1 order of hot churros //Comes with 3 decent size churros and condense milk on the side! One thing that really bugged me is that the cashier is in charge of making these, but he said they ran out of batter? Well boy, I got a photo of you making them right after we placed our orders. So you gave us cold ones sitting on the side instead?! Pros: –Awesome selection. I can’t wait to try the other items! –Great ambiance. –Good pricing. For the quantity and quality! Cons: –Meh service. I hope I don’t see this kid again… Tips/Observations: –Check in for 15% off! AGAINANDAGAINANDAGAIN. –They also sell popsicles of many amazing flavors on the side! Perfect for kids. –Homemade chips for $ 3?! HUGEBAG. I will try next time! –No parking at all. Street parking if you’re lucky… –Salsa bar in the back! Must try chipotle sauce and the cilantro sauce! Overall, still a great experience! I just better get hot churros next time…

If tacos were a religion, this place would be Meca. «The Taco Stand» is an understatement. It is a holy shrine that builds tacos, and those behind the counter doing the work are the high priests of Taco. You may buy just about any type of taco/burrito you want: fish, cactus, beef, pork or shrimp. Why is it so good? — Ingredients are well prepared. Sofie and I agree that the Baja(battered fish) taco is better than the grilled pescado — but then it’s good too. Al Pastor is full of flavor. — Al Pastor came with chunks of grilled pineapple! Yum. — Avocado did not come from a bucket. The cooks cut the avocado, scoop it out and shave off slices onto the taco. — The tortillas are made right there with a little press. Fresh and tasty. — The sauces to put on the tacos are sooooo good! I am ashamed to say that after I finished my tacos, I ate my sauce with a spoon. I am sure you will do the same if you get to it before your companions.

Delicious authentic tacos and fresh churros. Can’t beat that! Los tacos son buenísimos! Mis favoritos son los de al pastor, con una orden de churros que viene con lechera, que mas quieren?! Una sangría o cerveza para acompañar es lo único que falta y tienen eso y mas
