«As good as it gets» means that after 45 years living all over the USA since I left Brooklyn, the Pizza On Pearl cheese pizza came closest to the hmmmmmmm flavor, from its sauce, cheese, and olive oil. The crust may be a tad thinner and the cheese a tad lighter, but to pop my eyes open to that real flavor I grew up with, finally after disappointments coast to coast, is a «as good as it gets». Such a pleasure, that my sons and I will hurry back whenever in La Jolla area.(The garlic knots, however, need more garlic.)

We have lived in La Jolla for three years and ate at Pizza on Pearl for the first time last week. I can’t believe we waited so long! My husband and I ordered the Stromboli and immediately became hooked. All the ingredients are perfectly infused inside this folded concoction of gooey cheese and crust! One week later we ordered another stromboli, this time with additional sausage. We were not disappointed. We also tried out the meatball hero. If you are a meatball sandwich lover, this one is for you! The bread is fresh and the meatballs are full of Italian flavor. We placed an order online and received our delivery within 30 minutes on a Saturday night. Whether you are a local or visiting La Jolla, I urge you to stop by Pizza on Pearl. Their friendly staff, laid back atmosphere and awesome pizza will make you glad you did!

Consistently amazing pizza and delivery. I’m from the east coast and so have strong feelings on pizza, and POP is the only place I’ve tried here that makes eating pizza worth it. Their crust is delicious and flavorful, and their toppings are amazing. Some of their specialty pies, like the BCR in particular, seem out-there, but the flavors definitely work. One pizza can easily be split between two adults, which is still pretty pricey compared to where I’m from, but at least you’re not stuck with one of the other delivery pizzas available(looking at you, Papa John’s and Domino’s). Also, their delivery drivers are always really friendly, and the one time they’ve gotten my pizza wrong(out of ~20 orders), they immediately replaced it with the correct pizza. Keep it up, POP!

My girlfriend is Gluten Free and they have the best variety of pizzas available, not that many offer this option in San Diego and just love that they do — Thank You Pizza on Pearl :)

Pizza is a circle… Pizza is my life. Pizza is the circle of life! Super affordable prices. Great thin crust to sauce ratio If you don’t eat the crust you are weak and natural selection is coming for you. Tons of topping selections AMAZINGGARLICKNOTS I would come here more often if i lived closer. They have a featured flavor each month so definitely worth checking out!

Excellent pizza and garlic Knots. The sauce was the perfect amount of sweet and the cheese was melted like New York pizza. The crust was thin but fluffy. I would definitely go back!

It’s no secret my lil dude is obsessed with pizza. We were in Bird Rock and he was getting hangry. I Unilocaled up some nearby places for lunch and mostly what turned up was sushi. My son is notoriously picky, so that was out of the question. This, however, looked promising. A-by-the-slice pizza joint in La Jolla? Hmm. We cruised over tout de suite. Upon arrival we were blessed by the parking gods with the only spot left in their tiny shared lot. It was a sign of good things to come. Lil dude squealed with glee from the backseat as he gazed longingly upon a glorious sticker proclaiming«FREE Wifi.» Yep, he’s my child alright. I know, I know, there are some who are not fans of pizza by the slice. I was once a naysayer. Let me tell you though, having a child who only eats pepperoni pizza will cure you of that silliness. It’s a beautiful sight to walk into Pizza on Pearl and behold all those gorgeous pizzas just lined up and displayed in the front case. So, so, so many options. And on the top row all the way to left was an alluring mound of garlic knots beckoning to be devoured by the lil dude and myself. As soon as he spied them, he said he wanted three! So he settled on three slices of the pepperoni pizza and the garlic knots. I had trouble deciding on which pizzas to try. I finally picked two and promised myself I would try a couple more next time. The service was good. We used our Unilocal check-in offer for 20% off the entire order. It’s a great deal and the service didn’t change when I mentioned it. The gentleman that helped us was very friendly. In fact, when my son asked for the wifi password he was very sweet and helpful. The pizzas were very tasty. The crust was thin and crispy. The cheese was plentiful. My pear pizza had fresh spinach and Gorgonzola cheese, a great combination. The margarita pizza had fresh tomatoes and basil. And those garlic knots. Wow! I could of easily eaten more of those. No wonder lil dude ate his first. He scarfed it down like my childhood dog eating whole sausages. It was a sight to behold! We’ll definitely be back.

They really care about their business, the owner has reached out to me twice. Wow! We must have just ordered pizza on a rare off night. Unfortunately I left La Jolla without getting the opportunity to revisit this establishment. I cant wait to come back and re explore the menu.

Ordered over phone for delivery. Lady who took my order was nice. Pizza was delicious. Ordered Half pepperoni and pineapple and half sausage and jalepeno peppers. So tasty! Only Downfall is that they do not have wings and I think their salads are prepackaged, store bought. Fresh is always best! Will order from here again.

Oh my word I wish I could give this place 10 stars! It’s a tiny little shop but kept up. Decorated with NY décor, very cool. There’s a case with all of the pizzas to choose from and man is there a lot! It was hard to pick one and later I was sad I only had one lol I almost went back for dinner! The crust is def my favorite part. Crispy and actually has flavor unlike most pizza crust. The garlic knot was also delicious along with the marinara. The staff was very friendly also. The guy working the counter was adorable and worth going in for alone! I wish this place was every where. Affordable, amazingly delicious and def the place to be.

Yes! A pizza by the slice place in La Jolla? Hell to the yeah. Have been here many times and have never had a bad experience. Today they have like 15 different pizza slices to choose from. I ordered a slice of the«daily special»: perfectly fired soft yet crispy crust, carmelized bell peppers, chicken, pesto sauce, with the perfect amount of cheese on top. $ 5 minimum for cards but they let me slide today. My slice(w/20% discount for checking in) was about $ 2.50. Size big enough to satisfy in case enough to want to come back for more. I would imagine parking here could be a real problem in this area, but I got lucky and found a spot right in front. I definitely have a bias because my cousin’s friend works here and he is super cool. But I will add that the rest of the staff is always super friendly and down-to-earth. Highly recommend!

Peach Review: Comments based on the quality of food only. Check out Peach at Peach has teamed up with a large company in San Diego to deliver local restaurant food to employees at lunch time. No more boring cafeteria food and no need to walk over 20 minutes to the nearest shopping center to grab a decent lunch. Enough with the Peach spiel. I’m pretty excited to say the least because now I have the opportunity to eat food from restaurants I would never normally go to. One of my coworkers was offered 2 free meals(in addition to his meal) today so I was more than happy to get a free salad from Pizza on Pearl. House Salad with Chicken. Romaine and Mixed greens tossed with red onions, peppers, pepperoncinis, and chicken. The salad looked very good and the ingredients seemed very fresh. Unfortunately, the salad didn’t come with dressing as I think they were outside each container and someone must have taken more than their share when we went to go pick up our salads. We were lucky and the café downstairs gave us a balsamic vinaigrette, but I definitely would have preferred to try the house dressing. Maybe they should look into storing the dressing containers inside the salad container? I thought that the chicken was a little too salty, but that could have also been an affect of the cheese or dressing. The tomatoes were also getting really soggy, but that might have been because of the warm chicken. Overall the salad was just okay. Maybe they’re better for pizza than salad. I’ll have to drop by sometime if I’m ever in the area to try them our.

I have really warmed up to this place over the past year. I really believe that the pizza is the closest thing you will find to a NY pie in the area. they do not even advertise themselves as such. I regularly stop in for lunch(when the parking gods are with me) to grab a couple slices. They always have a very large selection of slice pies to choose from, and even a rotating pie of the month. The staff is always extra friendly, even though they are always busy. I really wish they would add more side items to the menu, like wings and other typical pizza joint items. I would likely order more. Until then, this is still a great(best in LJ) choice for pizza.

The pizza may be on Pearl, but it’s not a pearl of a pizza. Despite all the glowing reviews regarding the product here, I found only the crust to be anything to write home to Unilocal about. The sauce was runny, dull, and with a strong salty flavor. The toppings on our meat pizza were average. Environment-wise, the place feels very cramped especially on night packed with post-game soccer moms and their hyperactive offspring. Oh, and lacrosse moms. Because La Jolla. So the people watching is enjoyable too, I guess. Summary: Pizza and pearl clutching.

Not sure what the big dealio is. We ordered garlic knots to be served prior to the pizza, but someone didn’t get the memo and brought them out a couple minutes before the pizza. At $ 0.95 each they were terribly overpriced and served with watery marinara sauce. Our meat lovers pizza was pretty greasy and the toppings were very standard. The pizza crust was enjoyable though. The soft and chewy texture made it bearable to absorb the thin sauce and cheese grease.

This Pizza Joint makes a great pie. They offer some great by the slice specials and provide quite the variety for everyone to find just what they enjoy. I chose the three slice and a drink combo for $ 9, plus with a 20% off Unilocal Check In. I ordered the Marguerite, Supreme, and Meat Lovers slices with some iced tea. For kicks, I got me a freshly backed garlic knot. I enjoyed all three slices, but the Marguerite was my favorite of the three. The slice came with a great amount of cheese, just the right amount of garlic, tomatoes, and fresh basil. The crust had that nice combination of chewiness and crispiness and overall it tasted great. The Supreme was very good. It tasted good, but the moisture from the vegetables, probably the green bell peppers, leaked out and made it to the crust and made soggy in spots, especially towards the center. The meat lovers was very good. It came with that same great crust, perhaps a little heavy handed on the red sauce, but at least it tasted pretty good. The pepperoni, sausage, ham, and bacon were all tasty. I figured this slice was going to come out a little oily, but it was not to bad. On a side note, that garlic knot was terrifically moist and flavorful, couples with the side of marinara sauce, it was bliss. Nice people work here.
