This place is awesome. I’ve eaten there twice and ordered take-out one time and all the times I’ve been, they’ve always been so kind — great customer service. The food is reasonably priced and super filling. Highly recommend Update: Had lunch at Soy Tofu again today and they made me the wrong tofu soup. They corrected the mistake quickly AND… gave us a free platter of beef and veggie dumplings. I explained that they didn’t have to give the free dumplings, but the staff insisted. Great customer service. Highly recommend.

Everyone working(especially the owner) is SO nice! I got the vegetable tofu soup and the kimchi pancake and both were delicious. I’ve been here twice now and they seem to rotate the sides, but they’re all yummy. The spicy cucumbers were some of the best I’ve had. :) can’t wait to go back again!

This is the best Korean food I have had in Orange County. The owners are so nice and extremely gracious. The restaurant is wonderfully clean and beautifully decorated(you would never guess from approaching it in the strip mall style shopping center). It is extremely affordable as well.

Great all around korean meal. Took a big group to this place for their first korean dinner. was kind of worried when the group’s ordering strayed from the blue chip picks like bulgogi, bibimbap etc. But when all the random soups and noodle dishes came out it was all fantastic. And free ice cream cones never hurt

Incredible. My new favorite Korean spot. Bibimbap, vegetable tofu soup, kimchi pancake, and soju drink. Self serve complimentary ice cream as well

Yes… a 1 star! I’m that angry! I have frequented this restaurant quite a bit for lunch over the past few years and today was, unfortunately, my last. My usual order is their cold noodles and unlike any other nengmyun place, it always arrived sans beef. Because the overall taste was very good, I always kept getting it. This time before putting in my order, I decided to actually read what was included in the dish… slices of beef(as I knew it should have)! When I received my order, I told the waitress that it had no meat and pointed it out in the menu. She proceeds to tell me they ran out of that type of meat so there was nothing they could do. However, because I continued to give her a blank stare, she proceeds to talk to the cook(probably the owner) and exchange a few angry sentences. She then tells me he’ll try to find some type of meat for me(shouldn’t be hard, they have a whole BBQ page in their menu). Awhile later, she came back with a small bowl of beef and stands there with these, very loud, choice words, «we neeeeeeeeeeeeeverrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr do this for anyone… but here is some meat because it had been listed on the menu for your dish.» At this time the entire lunch crowd in the restaurant was looking at me with their judgy eyes. Fantastic! I think if an establishment cares about their reputation, they’d apologize and quickly offer some kind of remedy(discount on your dish, whatever meat on the side, etc.). I don’t understand why there was no apology and they even made it a point to try and make it sound like it’s MY fault for asking such a thing from them.

Truly the best Korean tofu in town! We’ve been going here for a year now and it’s still good and consistent :)

When we think of our years living in Cypress… we can’t help but feel nostalgic about Soy Tofu and the Ajima. The owner(Ajima) is AMAZING! I need to break this down into 2 segments: The Ajima She has lived in Cypress all her life and has even attended Kennedy High. She and her Husband opened up a Tofu House a couple blocks away and has been everyones second Mother ever since. The love and compassion she has for each of her Customers are absolutely heart warming. She always makes it a point to ask about my daughter and even packs us little side dishes to take home. Her attention to detail like adding Choco Pie or Korean Candy to your bill when she brings the change back is what makes her so special. Usually, Korean restaurants only bring back oranges… if even that. The food: The food is AUTHENTIC and delicious! The Ajima makes new banchans(side dishes) daily. Most Tofu houses only offer 2 – 3 dishes, but Soy Tofu offers closer to 8 – 10 all delicious! Also. the fact that the rice comes in a hot stone pot is also another reason this place is special… After eating spicy tofu soup, there is nothing like cleansing your pallet with hot rice water in the sizzling stone pot. We will def go back to visit our Ajima again for her soulful and delicious cooking!

looks very modern inside with the black wooden ceilings, lights and ambiance. they speak english well here, so no worries. menu is pretty big, lots of soondobu tofu soup option and pick your level of spiciness. soups come with either white or purple rice. they have soup/meat combos too. free ice cream near the doors, but they don’t really advertise it… i guess you will have to find out yourself.

Best authentic kimchi soondubu u can get, and i’ve been all around cerritos, garden grove, and everywhere. The soup taste centers around the kimchi and peppers they use, not additive chili oil/sauces other restaurants use. Classic korean food! Yum! The side dishes are amazing and there is yummy ice cream available for dessert. It’s a small restaurant so we had a short wait, but it wasn’t painful at all because it was good food and good service! Can’t wait to come back~

I’ve been coming to Soy Tofu for a while now, and it’s about time I finally left a Unilocal review. They have some of the the best soondubu I’ve ever had. I think I’ve tried every kind on their menu, and it’s always delicious. The spiciness level is a little bit milder than most places, so go up a level if you want it to be spicy. Grace is super nice, and she’ll bring you plenty of banchan refills during your meal. The banchan changes on a daily basis, and it’s always delicious. They recently added a freezer in the front so you can scoop yourself an ice cream cone after the meal. Usually I’m too full by that point. Make sure you come hungry!

I got a takeout order of the spicy seafood tofu soup. The good things are it came with banchan & rice. But the soup itself was flavorless or very watered down. Maybe I’ll give this place another chance with a different order, but I won’t be getting the spicy tofu soup here again.

In terms of the tofu soup(soon dubu), this was one of the more flavorless ones I’ve had. One of my favorites is Cho Dang in Artesia — I always get it mild, but the soup is still flavorful. I got mild here, and I got bland. Super bland(see picture — it’s really white). I had a sip of one of my friend’s, who had spicy, and it had slightly more flavor, but still not what I’d say is the best tofu soup in the area. That being said, the kalbi was really delicious. Tender and sweet. Kimchi Pancake was okay — two of us didn’t care for it as it was a little dry, and two seemed to like it. One really loved it, in fact. Service was a little spotty. There seemed to be only one waitress at the time and she would disappear into the back. They do give you a lot of side dishes, which I really enjoyed. You can also choose between regular rice and purple bean rice, which is nice, but I chose regular rice. Friends liked the purple rice. They have free serve yourself ice cream, which we did not try.

I will just preface by saying that I’m a very picky eater. If the food, service, or ambiance is lacking in even just one area, I will not enjoy my meal. This restaurant was great! All three of those things deserve a thumbs up. I like how it’s a tofu house with a more modern feel and nice decorative chandeliers. The service was prompt and polite. Our server refilled our side dishes and checked up on us a couple of times. The food was delicious. I got the kimchi tofu soup at the level spicy and was pretty yummy. The flavor was on point. I prefer it to bcd or Cho dang.

Service is warm and nice. Appetizers are good. Food is also pretty good and standard. Not too impressive so that we don’t plant to go there again. And the place opens a bit later than other places, hence it’s nice to go if you find other places closed.

3 stars for the meat. Negative stars for everything else. First the menus are completely in english. My mom can’t read or speak english and didn’t think she would need to as a korean at a korean restaurant. They had 6 menu photos on the wall with korean words and that was it. My mom and I ordered around 1pm and neither of us ate the entire day. We were starving and the food still sucked. We got the seafood kalguksoo(knife noodles) it was $ 10 of boring and bland noodles my mom and I dubbed water noodles. We got pork tofu combo with galbi $ 18. The meat was good but the bottom of the tofu stew was burnt. It tasted off and burnt… lo and behold i found the burnt bottom while spooning portions into a seperate bowl. But the stew was not hot enough to cook the egg yolk. Wtf? The pork in the tofu was good but only small portions of it. They did give us an egg though. So I guess the no egg policy changed from what I read on another Unilocaler’s review. The kimchi was dried out, stale, and bland. My mom reasoned it was dried out because the owner either left it out or the kimchi was reused. :/She only complained it was bland and the owner brought us more. Still bland but at least fresh. The owner was fantastic to the table of non-koreans to our right. Checking in on them constantly. When we were trying to ask for extra bowls and plates she interrupted us «just wait» in korean. No ladle was given to us to split the kalguksoo. No extra plates so we ended up using old side dish plates to hold meat. In summary: overpriced bland or bland burnt food with terrible service. The ice cream was fine. .but thats because its thrifty ice cream and it wasnt made here. Will never eat here again. Back to BCD and chodang.

We were craving noodles and tofu soup, but wanted to try a new place besides BCD and Cho Dang. Handmade noodles: Delicious! My boyfriend didn’t like the broth much because he felt it was too peppery. I wish the soup had a little more flavorful broth, but the noodle quality made up for it. Lots of seafood. Tofu soup: Better than BCD, but Cho Dang’s flavor beats this tofu soup. They do give you more tofu though. Banchan: They give you a huge variety! My personal favorite was the fish cakes and ham(?), but the purple kelp was visually beautiful. Rice: Unfortunately, it’s $ 2 extra for stone pot rice. Not that it makes a huge difference from regular rice, but since other tofu places give you the stone pot at default, this was a drawback. Service: Great! There seemed to be many regulars who know the workers, and the workers were very friendly. :)

Came back again with my coworkers and service was really slow this time. Like always, called in and put our orders in before we got there so that we could save time and eat and get back to work. Unfortunately, we took even longer than expected. When we got there, our server brought out half of our table’s foods. We all sat there for a good 10 minutes without utensils, banchan or rice. The half of us who got our food couldn’t even eat since we didn’t have utensils, plus our soondubu was getting cold. I usually put an egg in my soondubu right when I get it, but we didn’t have any banchan or eggs so that couldn’t happen. Finally, we asked where the rest of our table’s food was and it turned out that our server had forgotten to put in everyone else’s orders. It took about 30 minutes for everyone’s soondubus to finally come out. The food itself here is pretty good, but they need more than just one person working during a busy lunch shift.
