Ok, it’s official. This place is amazing!!! A total jewel in a most unexpected place… My wife and I found this restaurant on Unilocal and decided it looked nice and fit our moods perfectly for a late lunch, early dinner. For starters, we got the corn fritter with jumbo lump crab meat and also an order of the red curry calamari. Mmmmmmmmm!!! The two were wildly different and totally unique and each was exceptional! Ok, twist my arm and I’ll pick the fritter and crab but we loved them both. For dinner, my wife got the hamburger which is made with meat that is ground fresh In-house. Get it medium for a mouth watering delicious explosion of flavor! I actually got an appetizer of shrimp and grits for my meal. Honestly, I thought I was going to need a cigarette afterwards because it was gooooooooood!!! And I don’t even smoke! Lol Clean as a pin, amazing service, and a perfect ambience. Will definitely be back!

Wow! Decided to give this place a try while passing through town. The food was DELICIOUS& the service was AMAZING!(Thanks, Kimber!) Bread, salads were excellent! We had the lamb belly and the homemade sausage-wonderful, but one of my favorite parts was dessert! Salted caramel and bread pudding… to die for!!! Don’t think… just go to this place!

Ok so pleasantly surprised this place was better than I expected, it is rare that you find a restaurant that understands how important the salad and bread can be as a prelude to your meal, anymore most places just drop some lettuce in a bowl and call it a salad, the Greek salad was wonderful and the bread was fresh, made me think that if they cared this much to prepare them well that the entrée would be good. I had the Italian sausage, says its house made and I’d have to say it was pretty good and I’m picky about my Italian sausage, the vinegar on the side veggies could have been reduced a little more but I’d order it again. Crème brûlée was a good decision.

One of the best hidden gems in La Porte! Haven’t been here in a while so I’ve been remiss in not giving this place a glowing review. Always consistent, this place is an oasis amid the plethora of fast food and local restaurants in the area. GOALREADY if you’re in La Porte and looking for a good place for a business lunch or an evening meal.

Patrons mostly in white collars, food is the typical fare you expect at a country club or whatnot. Crime brûlée not as fresh as I hoped but tasty enough. Good iced tea. Parking lot full, parking on grass is popular option. My waiter was very professional but a blonde waitress yelled at some poor hostess, kind of de-classed the place for me so I had to take off a star

Love it!!! Wait staff is attentive… loved the 1805 wine for 10 bucks. Live music at times. And every time I go I make friends… it feels like family and the chef… the food… the owner… superb!

Classy joint. Lovely interior and bar. Interesting menu and choices. I picked the 3 course meal with multiple choices on salads, main course and desserts. Good service. A guy, I assume the owner, visited tables to be sure all was well. Nice touch. Even a saxaphonist on a Thursday nite when I was there. Might be the only nice restaurant in La Porte. lol

Coworker and I were looking for a place to have a drink, stopped in here. So glad we did! We ended up ordering some lunch, it was outstanding! I had the pork tenderloin with orange marmalade and crunchy mashed potatoes. Delicious, turned out the mashed potatoes were small balls breaded and fried absolutely delicious. My coworker had the hamburger with onion rings and french fries combination which she also said was fantastic. We will definitely be back!

Main 101 is one of the few good places to eat in La Porte. I have visited this restaurant several times with different groups of co workers. I have never tried dinner there so this review is solely for their lunch service. The place gets pretty packed at lunch keeping in mind that your so close to 225. So the best time to get there would be around 11 – 11:30 am. You get seated quickly and all the servers we have had have always been fast, friendly and very knowledgeable of the food that is being served. There are several crowds of people that frequent main 101 but plant administrators and executives are what you see most. Every dish I have ever had there was always delicious and portions have been large. On my last visit I had the crab cake sandwich. The bread was overkill but the Taste of the crab cake and sauce was great. My coworker ordered the fish lettuce wraps. The presentation of the wraps is pretty cool on a large platter. Service is fast and taste is always on point. The prices here are a bit higher but it’s not a fast food joint. You can get fast food items but with a gourmet twist.

It’s so strange how once my friend and I walked to this restaurant the hostess/waitress had the worst attitude, so bad you can see it on her face. She wasn’t in a good mood at all! To all of a sudden, she was nice, friendly, and was glad to serve us. Things to know up front: this is considered to be upscale restaurant located in the heart of La Porte. From the outside, the place looks like any olé’ restaurant such a hole in the wall establishment, but once you walk in you’ll be amazed of how easily it transforms your mood. Also, get this do remember those etiquette skills yo mum had you learn when you were a kid? You’ll need to use them here, if not people will look at you funny. It had me thinking I was in Clear Lake having a good meal with all of the nautical pictures, coastal décor, lighthouses, a mermaid and a dolphin sculpture, pictures lined all throughout the restaurant. Even in the breezeway they have some portraits for sale. The menu isn’t a nice site to see. The prices weren’t reasonable nor affordable and definitely not good for a college student myself. but heck my friend was choosing and she definitely has a high taste. I was more of clueless to not knowing it was a upscale restaurant. I was stuck on what I should choose to eat, so I settled for the salad and pasta which wasn’t the best choice since I don’t particularly like the taste of pasta in general. The Farfalle Pasta with Light Tomato Basil Cream Sauce was just OK; its pretty ironic how they combined five words to describe a dish that lacked so much flavor it definitely didn’t live up to its $ 11 price tag. I only ate it because I was paying for it and I was semi-hungry. Although, the best tasting thing here was the Greek Salad. It was definitely a lot more flavorful, delicious, and the house made dressing lit up my tastebuds. My friend ordered the Grilled Salmon with mashed potatoes, sautéed zucchini and carrots with a lemon butter sauce. She said that it was over the top delicious. The price tag of $ 15 definitely lived up to it. Oh, and her food most definitely looked way better than mines. The presentation of the plates, napkins and silverware was on point and very elegant. Here’s a disclaimer: Be warned that if you order the crab cakes as an appetizer you will get only 2 cakes for $ 13. Taste is OK, not over the top and not worth that much money. More like a ripoff to me. I wasn’t sure if it had real crab meat in it, it looked faux to me. My tab came out to be $ 32 which wasn’t worth it, well the experience was worth it and the date with my friend was, but the food being that sky high for the quality and quantity wasn’t. Do enter at your own risk… if you dare.

Went there for lunch and was pleasantly surprised. Outside was fairly nondescript and inside was truthfully bland looking. The food is the key here. All four of us were well pleased with our meals. Quality, quantity, and presentation were all on point. I had a burger whose taste I would put up there with most. My fellow diners all had a similar opinion of their meals. Would def go back if in the area.

Can’t say enough good things about this place! Amazing food that is cooked fresh and the best customer service. Visited on two occasions with a large group and was quite surprised at how well we were accommodated and how all of our food came out at once! Will be returning

Exceptional service from the staff. The food was over the top from the tender pork tails off the new gastropub menu, the well seasoned stuffed salmon and melt in your mouth porkloin.

The crab-stuffed mushrooms had to be returned for lack of freshness(nicely said.) The chef was apologetic and rectified them with the lump crabmeat corn fritters. The crab cakes were good but the sauce was overpowering. I have to say that the chef/owner was entirely attentive and insisted on bringing us a complimentary dessert. I would definitely come again because of the great service and owner participation.
