A good meal for the right price. Friendly service by our waitstaff and the owner. Try the Seafood Flatbread! Delicious!

Best restaurant in La Porte. That being said, we miss the old menu. I almost knocked the review down to four stars just because of how much stuff was taken away. But anyway, we discovered Mainly Drinks earlier this year after first moving to the Shoreacres/La Porte area and were blown away. In fact, we loved it so much that after our first dinner there we came back the next day for lunch! Had no idea places like this existed in this part of town. The atmosphere, the food, the beer and wine selection, everything is on point. And the prices are extremely fair for the quality of food and experience. Thank you for what you are doing for downtown La Porte!

I planned to meet some moms there for a fun moms brunch on a Saturday morning. We were pleased to find the door open at 10:15 since it was POURING outside. The waitress walks out and basically — out of shock? — shows us to the door. She said they won’t open until 11, running late, blah blah blah. Fortunately my friend’s husband hadn’t driven away yet and we made other plans for the morning. We would have been happy to sit and drink water for 45 min, but even when I pointed out all their information said 10:30 — she didn’t invite us back inside. I was really hoping to make Mainly Drinks a regular hangout — since I LOVE supporting local businesses. This lack of hospitality really irked me the wrong way.

«My wife and I enjoyed our wedding anniversary at mainly drinks. The food was very good as was the live entertainment and I always enjoy their craft beer selection; I do wish they carried the Lone Pint Brewery’s beers though. It does get very crowded on Saturday night when the entertainment is scheduled so if you are looking for a quiet meal go early. I have become fond of Mainly Drinks and look forward to dining there again soon.» Dined on 6÷6÷2015

I have been here 2 times with out a reservation. My first experience was nothing special. The waiter was super busy and did not have enough time to wait on us but told us to bare with him. He was a nice guy– not his fault they were understaffed. I got the chicken breast with mashed potatoes and green beans. The food was good enough to return a second time and give it another chance. On our second visit we came for a late dinner(around 8:15) We sat close to the kitchen and heard their music playing really loud, dishes clanking and it just sounded like they were closing before we even ordered. I started with what I thought was the small house salad(the lady up charged me when I looked on the bill with out even asking for a whole dinner salad) and it was drenched in dressing and was a pool of dressing half way through the salad. Yuk! For the main dish got the same as my first visit, only this time they prepared it much different. The sauce was not a fresh sauce as it was discolored brown and had a layer of oil on it, when it was supposed to be a light sage green color– the mashed potatoes were not the same as they were spiced with other things like corn and peppers/onions or something– and my chicken breast was 3x’s smaller and way overcooked/rubbery. I tried to force myself to eat it because it was later and I felt bad knowing that they were closing the kitchen but when I starting eating there were cold spots on the plate which led me to believe they microwaved it. It did not taste fresh at all. So I sent it back. They asked if I wanted something else and at that point I had lost my appetite so I politely declined. My guest had the seafood pasta which looked amazing and she really enjoyed it. I had told my waitress ahead of time(when we ordered our dinners) I wanted the same thing to go for my husband who got off late and could not make it to dinner with us. I just asked that she have it prepared closer to us finishing our dinner. I think she forgot or something because when I asked her for our check I also asked her to bring the togo. It took a few minutes and they were laughing about something in the back but I could make out what they were saying over the music. When she brought me the togo I noticed the bag was full of the sauce and may be a recipe for disaster in my car so I opened the bag to investigate and saw they had barely put anything in the box ! It did not look like anything close that came on my guests plate. I told her it looked a little scarce and messy and she agreed then offered 50% off of that togo. When I took it home and actually opened the box I should have just told her to take it back because it was missing ¾ of the noodles and the sauce was just liquid with no toppings. Maybe she saved some for herself since it was late??? Seriously could not believe how horrible the food was for me. I will give it one more try(probably not anytime soon) and will update my review then.

Haven’t been in a couple of months and a group of us went last night… The menu and I believe the chef have changed. The menu is very small and missing lots a great meals that we specifically come in for. We tried lots of new things on the menu, some were good and some not. Missing the chicken marsala, stuffed burger and several more of our favorites. Needless to say, we probably won’t be back. Sad, we used to love the place.

New menu, and it is missing all my favirites. No more incredible stuffed mushrooms, no large selection of salads, and the entrees I loved are gone. This went from a favorite stop that I would drive to from anywhere in Houston to just another maybe if I am in the area dining spot. Service was not the quality it once was. Either it was a new waitress or she was overworked. Refills were a tad hard to come by, you had to flat out make some one help you. I miss the old chef, he was really excellent. Maybe in a few months if they are still open I might try them for lunch.

We went here with friends on a Saturday night. They rake reservations and the ambience was cute. They have a large variety of food and drinks. We will definitely be back. Prices a tree reasonable for the quality.

I went in for Lunch and had the Portabello Mushroom burger. I dont know if it was supposed to be served cold but I feel it really took away from the flavor and experience. The dessert I really wanted they didnt have available. The restaraunt is very small so if you plan to go for dinner make sure to make a reservation and lunch you should get there by 11:00. The waitress was very nice and we got served very quickly. I know the building is old but the old musty/moldy smell once you walk in is very strong and bothered me for a bit until the wiff of food came my way. Nice spot in lil olé LaPorte.

My first time here was for the brunch served only on the first Saturday of the month. They have a number of things on the brunch menu that sound delicious but the tenderloin hash sounded over the top so I ordered that. Their description, «Beef tenderloin is diced and combined with potatoes, peppers and onions. This hash is topped with 2 fried eggs and garnished with hollandaise sauce.» All I can say is it was OMFG delicious! Better than I imagined. They have live music also so if you are sitting close to the performer it can be a little loud. I was surprised that the place was not more crowded than it was. I got there about 10:20 and left just before 11 and there were plenty of tables left. I’m going back for dinner! Update Went back for lunch to try the sirloin BLT. Sirloin steak is pounded flat, seasoned to perfection, and grilled. served with fresh lettuce, tomato, crispy bacon, and smoked Gruyère cheese on a toasted hoagie. It’s probably my favorite sanswich ever.

Last weekend was the first time I dined at this establishment. What a nice surprise! Our waitress was very knowledgeable and helpful. The Shrimp tacos were fantastic and paired with a couple of glasses of white wine was superb. Even had beignets for dessert. We will be back as regulars. A true gem of LaPorte.

This is a great bar with great food in old town LaPorte. The building is old and historic and is nicely decorated with comfortable chairs and four top tables. Local artist display their works here too. It has that old town updated feel; kind of old, kind of new. Local live music Thursday through Saturday evenings. Free wine and beer tastings every Thursday. Their Broadway Brunch is only on the first Saturday of each month. You can pay with Tabbedout ap. and make dinner reservations through Their lunch and dinner menus are extensive considering they are a bar. This isn’t just bar food. They have the usual burgers and fries but also great entrees. This is definitely the real deal. The food is inspired and fresh. Home cooking all the way around with hints of haute cuisine. Great hand cut French fries and great vegetables. Everything seemed to be cooked just right. Their chef does an excellent job and cares enough to see that all is well with the meal. The staff are very pleasant and it is obvious that this establishment has a good pedigree They know what they are doing as far a waiting on customers and with preparation and presentation. A real gem in LaPorte!

Tonight was our first time trying Mainly Drinks and we were very impressed! My sister and I started out with their soup of the day which was Roasted Red Pepper, Smoked Fontina & Potato Bisque. It was rich and delicious! The garlic croutons in the soup were to die for! We then split the Margherita Flatbread Pizza. And that too was superb. The pizza had basil pesto, fresh Mozzarella and juicy tomatoes. My sister actually said«That was the BEST Margherita Pizza I’ve ever had!» And finally, we ended with the White Chocolate Bread Pudding. And yes, it’s as decadent as it sounds. The white chocolate sauce was perfection. My sister didn’t even like bread pudding until she tried theirs. She has now been converted. :) We were very pleased with the service we received. Our server was very personable. It’s a very cute and quaint little place in old La Porte. The staff was friendly and they told us «goodbye» and«thanks for coming» as we were leaving. There was also live entertainment. Tonight there was a loungy-type singer. She was very talented! Mainly Drinks has a great variety of dishes including salads, pizzas, pastas and burgers. They also have coffee drinks, wines and desserts. And you can get almost any kind of flavored tea and they even have Italian sodas. Prices were reasonable for the most part. Some of the dinner entrees were almost $ 25 though. I didn’t notice if they had a parking lot. We parked off the street in front of the restaurant. It was free. So, this was a GREAT first impression! We will definitely be back!
