As we traveled the streets of La Puente in search for some tacos our little vehicle made it’s way down a strip mall and found Mi Jacalito. At Mi Jacalito we found the shy yet very friendly staff to be very accommodating with our very customized order. Fellow Unilocaler Giancarla E. said no frijoles in her lengua burrito. Si! No? No! Si! No frijoles. Si! And after the slight back and forth confusion we finally got it straightened out. Mi Jacalito Restaurant isn’t much. Just a small joint that sells Tacos, cerveza and more. Nothing out of the ordinary stood out — and my nachos were a bit stale and lacked umph! Granted while waiting for our food the staff kept us entertained and talked to us. But that was just about it. Nothing less, nothing more. This is one of several Taco spots with in a block away of «Taco del Rio» the hot spot on Azusa… So I decided to hit this place first to see what they have, wow it’s lunch time and there was only one other person eating in this place. While I looked over the hand held menu the lady asked if I would be eating here, I said YES, so she told me have a seat look over them menu them she will take my order. So I order 2-Carne Asada, 1-Al Pastor y 1-Carnitas, then she tells me I’m sorry we don’t have Al Pastor or Carnitas today!, but we do have blah blah blah… OK, give me 2-Asada y 1-Chicharron tacos Carne Asada had nice flavor, salsa was nice and freshly hand made tortilla. Chicharron was soft and the sauce had nice flavor. Normally I would knock off 1-Star for not having something so basic as Al Pastor/Adobada or Carnitas, but this lady was very friendly, she also explained to me business is very slow now and if she makes the Carnitas and Al Pastor and it does not sell she has to throw it away, which I’m sure she probably takes it home and does not throw away. If you guys are in the area give her a try, the food is good and she needs the business. I will go back to try the Al Pastor and Carnitas and review appropriately.
