Joy Ride Bikes

Went here based on Unilocal reviews. Our bikes were dismantled when we moved (so they could fit in the moving truck!). We brought them here to make sure that they were put back together properly. Service tech quickly reviewed all the bikes, gave us his recommendation to make sure that we get the most out of the bikes by putting them back together properly so there would be no future issues. Bike for every budget, attentive staff and a cute dog behind the counter (Vera). Bring your bikes here — you wont be disappointed.

I was surprised when I walked in here for the first time because it’s a pretty dynamic space with lots going on. There’s a little bit for everyone (as long as you’re buying/​riding something fairly new). Nice and open, with enough selection to please most.
They let me return a tire when it didn’t fit my fork, which was awesome.
They’re all helpful and friendly. The wrench with the pentabike tattoo helped me out wicked and ultimately recommended I go to Deschutes for the part I was looking for — not every shop is willing to do that.

All of the people in the store are friendly and helpful. Good selection, fair prices, and the service guys communicate well when your bike is in for service.

Went there today to get some work done on bike. Will, greeted us upon entering and asked what he could help with. Very helpful, very friendly service. I have visited almost all the bike shops in area and this shop was the friendliest and user friendly shop. I am not from the area but moved into the Lacey area. I bought a bike on sale and the service was great.

I live a few miles away in Olympia and wasn’t even aware this shop existed. After hitting up and being disappointed in all the local bike shops I searched for other bike shops nearby. I found this place and decided to check it out. Glad I did. Good prices and fair treatment. Will be buying my next bike here as well.

Okay, I’m going to update again, a year later. Husband & I just took in our bikes for tune-​ups there. Turnaround time was about 5 days right before the Commuter Contest started so that was great. Because we purchased our bikes there they knocked off quite a bit for all of the gear & dérailleur adjustments. I needed a lot of work done and new parts from a year of regular riding. They suggested getting breaks that have a tiny screw I can un-​do and slip in replacement pads when these wear out; sold! Total was around $ 135 for both bikes, definitely a steal. The ol’ Club is running like melted candy now and I’m out there getting my base miles in again. Love Joy Ride.

Great bike shop, I have been going here for a few years. They are always helpful, and willing to answer any questions I have. I recently purchased a Norco Range through them, they had it shipped and together in no time.

I’m not a local and have no previous experience with Joy Ride but they saved my bacon midway through a Pacific Coast bike tour. Giro shoes were falling apart and they’re kind of a weird size width wise. No one at home carries the wide sizes but they happened to have them on the shelf. Nice folks, zero bike snobbery. They were dialing in a women’s wheelchair and all of the three guys who helped me were cool. Looked like they had a good BMX selection, some cross bikes on sale at attractive prices. Lots of fenders. Support your local bike shop.

Good shop, I rode from West Oly to Lacey and got a flat. They were the closets shop open on the weekend I figured would have 29er tube. The guys let me change my tube out right there in the store and had a pump for me to borrow too. I can’t say I looked at the bikes, but the staff was great.

First time at Joy Ride. Customer service was excellent. They fixed the problem right away at a very reasonable cost. They have our business from now on!

The family has always frequented Joy Rides since moving to Lacey, WA and we have nothing but good experiences there. The prices, compared to others, seem to be about the same or if not better than other bike shops in the area. The move to a larger shop has increased their business, thus I have to keep my rating a four star. Though I was used to prompt and immediate service from their old location, their new store has brought on new and loyal customers that make their service, regardless the increased staff, a little slow… I have to give them credit. So they must be doing something right, right? My only problem, I tried to find a replacement part for my son’s bike at 6:30 PM and they were already closed for the day. Knowledgeable and helpful staff only goes as far as hours one is open and we are not all bankers… some of us have jobs that take us past 5 or 6 pm.

I’ll be honest, I wasn’t expecting to love this place as much as I do. I just *knew* it would be one of those places where I would walk in, feel intimidated, and then not even have to sneak out ’cause no one bothered to ask if I needed help anyway.
I’ve been here three times in the last two months, and already someone took the time to learn my name — AND they were able to turn my bike around super quick.
They’ve got a really great crew here. I still stop in at other shops from time to time to see how things compare, and this one by far will be the one where I will spend my money locally.

Best bike shop in the south sound. I didn’t know much about bikes and they didn’t treat me like an idiot. Will helped me out and broke everything down for me and found me the perfect bike for my needs… and it was on sale too! They aren’t just trying to suck your money from you, they actually want you to enjoy your bike and make sure you have an enjoyable experience. Very knowledgeable staff that aren’t ‘bike snobs’ like most shops around here. They have definitely won my recommendation.

I’ve been a bike commuter for a long time, and thats involved a lot of trips to a lot of different bike shops in the Olympia area. By far this is the best experience I’ve had from anywhere else.
Originally I was in the market for a decently replaced shop that could fix my very worn commuter. After multiple failed attempts at prior shops of just discerning my current bike for a new bike well over the $ 1,000 price mark. I was concerned I wouldn’t have much luck with saving my olé’ girl. I traveled to Joy ride with hopes of some fix, so I came I saw, I conquered. After about 10 minutes of cruising the store I was quickly swept to the repair part of the shop had a estimate written up and it was compared to what I had in town from other shops– they were willing to beat the lowest estimate! Though the clearance sales I saw I could not pass up! I Scott SUB 40 caught my eye as well as many other bikes. Only $ 350 for this 2010 bike! So after a few test-​rides I was sold. The staff was great, made buying a new bike experience awesome and the prices you just can not find anywhere else!
I even get free check-​ups, as well as free tuining for a month after.
Way to go Joy Ride, you’ve got a devoted new customer!

What a bunch of great folks! I have been in a few times and brought my not so new bike in for wheel straightening and new tires. I didnt want to spend a ton of money because my bike is on its last season.
After being greeted promptly, we took my bike off the rack and the super nice fellow helped me pick out tires and he fixed it up on the spot. I was riding and hour later!
This was great, I didn’t feel the pressure of not spending money on parts that are out of my price range and nobody was raising their nose at my not so new bike — quite the opposite.
This is now the only shop I go to, they have earned my loyalty. Give it a try, you wont be dissapointed.

Ive bought two bikes from Joy Ride and Derik, Aaron, and John are the best to work with. They know all kinds of bikes (commuter, recreational, mountain, road, race). I’ve dealt with another bike shop in town and they were extremely slow in placing special orders. (I had to call three times asking about my tires.) Joy Ride has fast special orders and great service, calling as soon as items come in.
Also, the guys are top competitive cyclists and ride year round, so they really know what gear works and is practical.
Highest recommendation.

Last summer I set out on the great bicycle purchasing adventure. I got professionally fitted elsewhere (which I highly recommend for about $ 30). The owner and staff are well-​informed & generally nice guys. I love my bike :)
