Absolutely terrible. I had a burger that was overcooked and the bun was so stale. I ate there about an hour ago and feel like I am going to be sick. The service was also terrible. The menu was overwhelming and unorganized. Flies and just unclean. I will definitely not be going back.

We got the lobster stew and pulled pork roll. Both were awesome along with a variety of craft beer samples. This will be my go to place for comfort food and great beer. Desserts were also very good.

I love this Diner. I’ve eaten here many, many times but only for breakfast. The food is consistently good and they are always coming up with creative specials every weekend. The service is quick and always friendly. I used to be a regular in the Weirs Beach area and I ate breakfast here almost every weekend. Now I’m only in the area every couple of months and I still make sure I stop in before going home.

Exactly what you want out of a classic diner. Décor was classic American diner. Service was fast and friendly. Had breakfast, hash omelette with the homemade red velvet hash, unbelievably good. If you’re at Winnipesaukee, definitely make this place for breakfast.

I have only been here for breakfast so that is the only food that I can speak on; the place is super friendly; kind of take a seat and become family for the hour or so you spend here; the pancakes are delish and the omelets are amazing — The only reason it is not a five star is because it could use a little bit of a face lift But if you are like me and appreciate the food quality only — you will not be disappointed with breakfast here — My three kids all love it and that makes me a happy mom

I grew up in Laconia but only recently visited this diner for breakfast, not sure why it took so long to get here. Hard to write a review based on just one visit but here goes. I ordered the Hash Benedict(eggs Benedict over corned beef hash) overall it was pretty good but next time I’d probably try pancakes or a lunch item instead. The good: * Atmosphere — it’s a super-cute 50’s dining car that’s cozy and VERY New England. Customers at the counter griping about The Red Sox were just PERFECT * Prices — Quite reasonable * Portions — Not stingy for the price you’re paying * The hash browns — Crispy and hot. I can’t stand floppy hash browns so extra points from me * The eggs — Perfectly poached, fresh & yummie The Okay: * Service — Teenagers who seem to all want to be somewhere else. Did their jobs but only just. * Parking — Can be a pain as it shares the lot w/a bunch of other businesses in the square The Could Be Better: * The corned beef hash — Sadly from a can, the kind that has the consistency of dog food warmed over * The English Muffins — Menu says they’re homemade but mine were just warmed, not really toasted and so super chewy under my Benedict. Would try again by themselves to see how they really were.

This is an awesome place to eat lunch and breakfast at. I habe been here twice and its an excellent value and really good food. I know the ladies that own the restaurant and they are great people. Both times I’ve been habe been perfect and both times there was a boy I think is the busser that has been beyond helpful. He filled my coffee and personally picked out a coloring book for my son and was very funny and nice. We go there for lunch now everytime we are in laconia.

Good sized portions. Home cooked food. Friendly people. A local favorite. Never really had a long wait on food, no matter how many tables were filled. Prices are reasonable. What isn’t to like?

Hubby and I went for breakfast during a visit to Weirs Beach. Walked right in, were told to sit anywhere. Server took our order, served me coffee, then 5 min later came over and asked if she could take our order again! She realized almost right away what was going on and we all had a good laugh(Fri morning, one of those days.) I had an omelette, home fries, sourdough toast. Coffee was strong and tasty, food cooked perfectly, and abundant. Hubby had french toast, bacon, scrambled eggs, hash browns. Said he liked everything but the bacon(can’t go by him, he’s weirdly picky.) Prices very reasonable — we would go back.

Other than having to wait a bit to sit(holiday weekend), and our food taking a little bit… I’d say it was worth the wait. The food was good and this seems to be where locals go also. Coffee is tasty and fresh. The French toast is yummy. I got the«double rail». Good amount of food. I also enjoyed the hash browns(shredded potatoes).

Neither here nor there. Nothing was great, nothing was awful. Got the pancakes and hash browns. Pancakes were good not fret and the hash browns were undercooked. Super low prices though!

Superlative food and service, have loved this place for the past few years! Owner is a delight!(me and my husband admiring the taps, owner gave us beer samples in the a.m. and she makes a killer bloody!). The owner is always present and treats her staff with pride and respect. «Friendly» diner, is putting it mildly, they are super. The food is fresh and hot. Poached eggs cooked to perfection, the hollandaise sauce-thinking about it makes my mouth water, great hash, always a dish of cabot butter for your toast(love the rye), home fries or their hash browns — whatever you are in the mood for are delicious! My husband loves the pancakes. Haven’t been to Laconia in a couple of years but spent the last couple days at «The U» for breakfast”. Same as it ever was. Miss the area. Nice to be back and in such good hands for food! I’d say keep it up, but in our absence you have!

I love this diner! I have only been in for breakfast hours, but over-all every time has been good! Everyone that works here is super friendly. When asked if I could get something on the menu but modify it a bit, the waitress and cook had no problem doing so either. Food is good, service is excellent. Great place for breakfast!

Love the food, especially the lobster stew. But the coffee is terrible and the service was Mia. Fix the coffee and the service and The Union would get 5 stars from me.

Solid diner fare and my favorite one in the general area. It’s a cute albeit a tad run down lunch car. But I liked the look and feel of the place. Relaxed, local people just grabbing a bite. All the staff are extremely friendly, made my friend and I feel comfortable which is the most important to me! I honestly wish we had more time to sit and just drink coffee(even though the coffee wasn’t that great). We got breakfast and they do their omelettes really well! Perfectly cooked and fluffy eggs with melty cheese and fresh veggies? I’m happy. Potatoes were nothing to talk about, but I did enjoy how they puzzle together the toast into a. hexagon? I dig it a lot. It was cheap, not too greasy and it hit the spot. Their prices and overall quality is better than *coughDonnaJeanscough* I’ll be bringing my friends here for breakfast when they come up for the summer. Oh and they have beer on tap. Really? How awesome is that, so you can grab a beer with your breakfast, now really you’ve got my friends and me sold.

This review is based on dinner. The Union Diner(formerly Paugus Diner) is housed in an old fashioned 1951 Worcester lunch car(#831) serving breakfast, lunch, and dinner, the typical American diner fare. This dining car was originally Manus’ Diner in Concord before suffering fire and moving around several times before moving to its present location in Laconia. The Union Diner has been under new management for one year. The main portion of this classic diner(restored) has a long lunch counter with stools and booths along the front windows and ceramic tiles. The back kitchen area and an additional dining room(completed in 1994) are attached to the original diner. The place has several TVs in both dining areas and the attached dining room was recently decorated with classic pictures and old 45 records on the walls. The breakfast menu offers plenty of egg dishes, 3 egg omelettes, breakfast sandwiches, pancakes, waffles, French toast, candy counter cakes, and breakfast sides. Egg Beaters are available. The lunch & dinner menu offerings include hot & cold sandwiches, salads, soups, burgers, hot dogs, chicken & seafood baskets, comfort dishes(meatloaf, turkey dinner, tips, pot roast, pork pie, chicken fried steak, pasta & meatballs), and desserts. The prices here are reasonable, most dishes under $ 10. Coke fountain drinks served. Specials are also offered. They had Chicken Pot Pie on special when I was here. I stopped in here recently for dinner and sat up at the counter. I started out with an ice water to cool off and ordered the Apricot Glazed Grilled Chicken Dinner($ 7.29) served with potato, vegetable, and roll. The hot roll was brought out first, which was pretty good with a soft dense texture and a sweet taste. The entrée was ready in 12 minutes. The food was pretty decent. The thin piece grilled chicken was tender, not too stringy, and had a sweet glaze on the outside. The mashed potatoes and asparagus seemed to be reheated though. The mashed potatoes were homemade, very chunky and dense topped with a hearty brown gravy. The asparagus was a good side to go along with the meal. I finished most of the food, but I boxed up the mashed potatoes for later, which was very filling to eat. The service was friendly and attentive and the owner was working with the staff. Overall, the food was pretty decent diner fare, not fancy, but good and tasty food. Back to Bike Week! Vroom-vroom! Vroom-vroom!
