#IShouldHaveGoneToOldeTymeGrocery. There is a reason Olde Tyme wins awards for Best PoBoy. Do yourself a favor, pass up Chris’s and drive the extra 5 minutes towards town to OTG. The catfish poboy we ordered last night was $ 10.95(more expensive than olde tyme but way less value for the $) was a piece of fish between flimsy French bread. When I say it was naked-I mean it was naked! It was dressed with only a little bit of mayo. Chris’ special which has been much better DINING in, was pitiful Thursday 2÷25÷16. Hardly any meat on it and it left me hungry. There is nothing worse than being starving, getting a pitiful sandwich and still be hungry. Wait there’s more! Check it — when you dine in you get chips and a pickle, making the sandwich complete and a better value, however when you take out, you don’t get the chips and pickle. Let me hip ya to sumthin Chris’ you would FAIL miserably anywhere other than LFT. If you pulled this anywhere else you’d be laughed out of town. So, I call to inquire about this after I left, b’cuz it took me a minute to realize that they’d always served chips/pickle when we dined in. The poor little girl who answered the phone and advised me this was their policy when you take out, did not know the first thing about customer service or how to handle a complaint as she hung up on me when I told her how ridiculous this was. Their policy must be to not dress their sammies either if you take out, b’cuz there was NOTHING on the special but meat-no slaw like they do when we dine in. Patrick D. is right, their staff is really immature and ill equipped for servicing customers. They can’t muster even a smile and they mumble when they talk. You never feel like your business is valued in this place. When is the town EVER going to understand that their poor communication skills and lack of customer service keeps their entire community from advancing. #NeverAgainChris’

Located across the street from my hotel I was excited to get a real Po Boy from a local restaurant. The menu offers multiple options for Po Boys like oyster, shrimp, roast beef, game, pork etc. They come in half(6″) and whole(12″). Decided on «Chris’ Special» which came with Roast Beef, Ham, Swiss, slaw and gravy. The bread was flat and delightful and the protein was generous. The sandwich had a nice and salty flavor. I wish I could tell you about the gravy but it was forgotten and unfortunately I didn’t notice until the meal was over. Overall it was a tasty sandwich at a fair price point.

The service was great and clean inside. The food was also great. Had their meat gumbo and Chris’ special po-boy and it was very good. Recommend trying if you are in the area.

Some of the best po-boy bread you’ll eat. It’s NOT hard and«stale» tasting like their competitors. I’ve never had a bad po-boy from Chris’s!

The entire staff sits back behind the counter and visibly talks about and makes fun of their patrons. I overheard them as they degraded a few women that left. The waiter didn’t say a word to me when he walked up. The vibe here is sarcastic and unprofessional. I watched as customers walked in and not a single person at the counter acknowledged them. With that said I’d probably have a different opinion if I just went through the drive thru. The roast beef and ham poboy was really good but the half size is pretty small.

I’ll start by saying I don’t get s chance to eat many poboy sandwiches. However, I have had a few oyster poboys and this one was just ok. While there were a lot of oysters, they just didn’t really have any oyster flavor. Perhaps they were too fresh and therefore had less of an «oyster» flavor than what I am used to, but I came away a bit disappointed. The service was great. Next time I’ll try something else.

The best poboy available in the region, save what comes from my kitchen. Here’s what makes the Chris’ poboys the best in that region, even thru New Orleans: the bread is the crusty, toothy just-right thickness, the greens used is cabbage(that’s a must do), and the amount of freshly fried oysters is nearly obscene. The price is above what you’d pay for a sub, but this is no sub and a dozen freshly fried oysters aboard crisp, dressed cabbage and perfect bread is something I gladly pay for. The only change I’d make is to craft a quick remoulade for an offering… otherwise, perfect.

We stopped through Lafayette on our way to Mobile, AL. We found Chris po’boy & it had good reviews. We figured since Louisiana is known for po’boys we’d give it a try. We ordered 2 whole shrimp po’boys & a side of potato salad… $ 25 for everything. We took it back to the hotel to eat & ended up being VERY disappointed. The po’boy was a foot long but it had some tasteless, uncleaned shrimp. We expected if you pay $ 12 per po’boy, it would have been overflowing w shrimp. Nope! It had a even later of shrimp on the bread. It had really no flavor. It was edible, but nothing exciting. We’d never go back. The potato salad was decent too. We’re now in Mobile & just had a great shrimp po’boy here from The Boiling Pot… Guess you got to come to Alabama for good food.

Hotel recommended this place. Glad I came. Anthony was awesome. Very honest and answered all my questions. Food was definitely yummy. I had catfish poor boy. Breaded just right. They give you a good amount. Also had the chicken and sausage gumbo. Great flavor and they give you big chunks of chicken and sausage. They even have a drive thru. It’s upscale fast food. They also have bread pudding that’s not on the menu. I was too full to try.

Well done. Great food, Friendly staff. Ben was great and answered all the questions us Northerners could come up with. Seafood Gumbo and the sandwich were both very satisfying.
