Walked in and should have walked out. Kane Ramen was terrible. Saba Shoyaki was sub-par. Maguro and Hamachi were sub-par. Agree with the other Unilocaler that the food has gone down hill.

Went for lunch. One table then us. Should have turned around then. I had tempura and salmon. It was not bad. Miso soup had no flavor. Salad was a handful of organic greens from Safeway five. buck container. Wife had chicken nuggets. Horrible. Service was ok. Pitifully unfriendly chef. Prices for lunch way too much for so little. Gave it a try, one the black list now.

I am only giving this place two stars because I didn’t get food poisoning. The fish had clearly been frozen, it wasn’t prepared correctly, and no one working there even spoke Japanese. So sad because this used to be my favorite sushi restaurant in Lamorinda. I will not return.

Higher the price and lower the portions… Been here many times and considered it the best sushi in Lafayette, under the previous owners. Still like it but hesitant about the new ownership… We’ll try them again and update soon!

This place was pretty good! It had the most selection than the other sushi places I have been to in this area. Customer service was very attentive and the food was absolutely delicious! I will definitely be back!

Kane Sushi is fantastic! I can’t believe anyone would gripe about it?! I’ve gone there for lunch 5 times in the last month; the fish is fresh, the pieces are big and generous, the chef is knowledgeable, creative, and honest!

Good food and service! I usually order togo for lunch. I order either the roll or donburi. They have various list of yummy rolls and I’ve tried almost all the rolls with Salmon because Im a salmon freak. The fish is very fish and sauce blends well with the roll. And the Donburi… Katsu donburi is the best!!! This restaurant serves the best katsu donburi! Half cooked eggs and pork cutlet and sauce is the best combination. The service is also very good. The owner lady is always smiling and 2 male servers are very nice. They always catch my attention right when I walk into the restaurant even if theyre busy doing something else. Will come back more often !!! :)

I keep hearing good thing about this place left and right. So I had to give it a try, unfortunately I didn’t have the chance to dine in(that’s why I only gave 4 stars) but the sushi is delicious! I’m not a fan of simple rolls, I like getting the ones more elaborate even if it mean paying 2 more dollars. I got the Angel mama and the titanic roll. The titanic roll just became one of my favorite’s!

Two friends and I ordered lunch and couldn’t have been more disappointed. We ordered two combination lunches, one tempura and beef teriyaki, and one tempura and salmon teriyaki. Each was supposed to come with soup and salad, but we received only one of each. But worst of all, we were charged separately for the tempura and the teriyaki dishes, so the bill ended up $ 10 more than it should have. The teriyaki was laid on top of a napkin, ostensibly to soak up the excess grease, but the paper stuck to the tempura, which made it hard to eat. The miso soup just didn’t taste that good, and the overall quality of the meal just wasn’t very good. In addition, the salad was served with enough dressing for about half of it, but worse, some of the greens were slimy. No soy sauce or any other condiments were included in the bag either. I was told by my friends that they had trouble the last time they ordered as well. None of us will be patronizing this place in the future.

We have made Kane Sushi a weekly event. They are always accommodating and sushi is always good. We have rotated between other sushi spots, but we have been coming here more regularly.

I work right across the street so I order here fairly often. The staff is very friendly, one of the waiters even remembered what I liked to order! The food is very fresh and yummy. My favorite is the jungle roll. I love whatever dressing they use for their side salad as well. They also have sushi creations that customers have come up with posted all over the wall. Now that is adorable and good motivation to get creative! I would bring everyone here

Kane Sushi is my local favorite! The sashimi salad is unbelievable! Lisa, the owner, is the sweetest. She makes sure that everything is of the highest standard. The rolls are awesome too! I have been going to Kane since they first opened and have many, many memories from this local favorite spot!

SUCH a friendly staff, i always have a beer or two while i order my food to go and they are so generous with the portions! They have a very large selection of rolls and Specialty customer made rolls, if you are in lafayette looking for a sushi place to go that is fun, and not going to KILL your wallet, go there. I am local guy, ive been to them all., and now this is the only one i go to!

Two stars, for the food. It was delicious. The service was beyond terrible. We sat at the sushi bar, where the waiter/host would often come over to the chef and shout orders to him in our ears. We had to flag down a waitress ourselves, after sitting for 20 minutes. We ordered, then waited another 20 to get our food. On other visits, they have completely forgotten about my orders. Yes, I’m holding a grudge against them for this, but they haven’t done anything to redeem themselves yet! There’s much better sushi just around the corner at blue ginko or Asian palace.

I am a person who is fairly easy to please. Really, I am a glass-is-half-full, roll-with-the-punches, everything-is-chipper kind of girl(annoyingly so sometimes, I recognize) and it is instinctive for me to find the positive in everything. But this place just made it really difficult for me to do so. Kane Sushi seems like it was conceived by someone who has never had good sushi before; and the sad result is a quite«Americanized» sushi place, as a fellow Unilocaler pointed out. The menu was *cute* at first glance since they allow the customers to create their own sushi, name said creation and Kane would add them to their menu(I think that’s how it worked anyway). But the end result is a chaotic menu that I had to read at least 3 times to figure out what the heck to get. The portions were small, the price is a little high(since this is in Lafayette and all), the service was on the spotty side, and the sushi was just really… different(and not in a good way). This is the first time that I couldn’t even summon an appetite with my trusty«There are plenty of people starving in the world and you are wasting food!» appetite booster. So sorry to be so negative, but really I won’t go back to this place again or recommend it even to my worst enemy(well, maybe I would… depends on said enemy’s offense).

I’ve only tried Kane once, and it was an order for pick-up and my stepdad picked it up on his way home from work, so I can’t comment on the service since I didn’t dine-in. I ordered 2 rolls and my mom and stepdad each ordered a chicken teriyaki dinner and the price seemed quite reasonable for the amount of food we ordered, and even more so when the food got home. The portions are ridiculous! I tried the Sue’s Crunchy Roll as per Unilocalers suggestion as well as the Philly Roll. The sushi was good, but I don’t think I’d order Sue’s Crunchy again. It’s just california roll + tempura shrimp and HELLLLLACRUNCHIESONTOP! I did enjoy that part. The rolls are giant, though. Each piece did NOT fit nicely into my mouth and my dinner was a bit of a chore to consume. I’m sure I will eat here again, but maybe I’ll try something different next time. As far as the teriyaki goes, Mom and Marcus scarfed it down so I’m guessing it was pretty good, too.
