Best lamb shank ever! Felt and tasted like I was in France. Everyone enjoyed their meal. Lamb was enough to share with my husband — after we had mussel appetizer. I will recommends this to friends when they visit this fabulous town. Thanks so much for a perfect evening!

The service with boss boy was not fast and he did not even listen when we asked for water, so we have to ask the waitress. The food was mediocre, their mussels doesn’t have sauce with it and they charge extra for sauce which make no sense. As for salmon which I got was very greasy and absolutely tasteless. Maybe that’s explain why when we went there on a Sunday night we were their only table. As for their glass of wine for $ 10 it was a bitter wine and really half glass.

If there was a lower rating, I would give this place less the one star. I work in hospitality and have never encountered such a horrible security. The fat white security with a goat tie is worst security guard I ever met. Last night this chump interrupts me and wife while we are dancing and tells me to leave with no warning. Says I was falling down which I wasn’t. Said I was drunk, which I wasn’t. After causing a scene with police I finally said fuck this place and left. Shit service at a crap dive is the worst. Fuck this place!

Have come here a few times just for the great Belgian beer and European feel and really enjoyed it. Had dinner here for the first time and everything was delicious. I had the hanger steak and fries and my wife got the mushroom and chicken stew over a puff pastry. Both entrees were excellent, the steak was perfectly cooked and the red wine and shallot sauce was awesome. Have always had great service here as well, definitely recommend trying Brussels bistro.

Best beer in town, and the best food to accompany it. Go for the steak tartare if the have it or unlimited mussels in five different styles. Daily fish also always good.

Came here a few weeks ago to celebrate a coworkers birthday. We got the unlimited clams and fries. The creamy garlic clams were divine. The bread soaked up the buttery clam sauce perfectly. My favorite part of visiting this place was the amazing birthday surprise they brought out for my coworker, let’s just say that girl was on fire! I would highly recommend trying this place out if you’re in the area. It has a nice feel and the service is good.

The mussels and fries are my go to menu item. Like anywhere else, service can be hit or miss depending on the staff the day you go… but it is decent most of the time. Worth a visit. Fun Belgian vibe!

We went yesterday with another couple that had a reservation The place was extremely busy so we waited at the bar. Once we got our table we ordered escargot which were delish. Tartine de fromage(cheese toast) which was great and warm green bean salad with bacon and potatoes .The warm crusty bread they served was too good to pass up . My hubby and I split the garlic cream mussels which were so tasty I didn’t want them to finish ever! My friend had the paella which was ok and her husband the sea bass en papillotte that he said was flaky and fresh very tasty. We will be definitely back as I cannot stop thinking about the mussels and fries. Great small place not inexpensive but the food was worth it!

Wow! The beef bourguignon was fantastic. The green beans with potatoes were tasty and the service was excellent. Our server offered many descriptions and explanations of the menu items and was very friendly, personable and seems to truly desire for our dining experience to be pleasant. He assisted people at the table next to ours when an unexpected friend turned up and they needed to move to another table — all with courtesy. Great good and the dessert crepes were just yummy. We will return to try more menu items.

This chic, below-ground restaurant was a special spot to reconnect with one other friend I hadn’t seen in months. The noise level is low enough to allow for conversation. The food selections made me feel as though I was back in Belgium. The proprietor stopped by our table to personally greet us and ask about our meals and drinks. The lighting is fairly dim, which is flattering to all of us. We shared the Cornet De Frites appetizer with it’s dual dipping sauces. I then enjoyed the Duo de Crepes with Bechamel sauce(a ham & cheese crêpe and a chicken & mushroom crêpe). I didn’t go easy on the delicious house bread, either, which made ordering dessert out of the question at one setting.

This is an interesting location. With so many places that benefit from a beach location this place does a great job with its basement location. We always have an interesting wine paired with the mussels. They are very good. The crepes are a fantastic dessert, as well. This is a great place to watch a soccer game.

Great staff! They were friendly and welcoming! We we sat at the bar looked over the menu and decided to have a petite order of mussels and a half dozen oysters. Overall experience was pleasant and staff was so nice! There were only two people working but after we had experienced some tourist trap nightmares like The cliffs we were so thrilled to find a place that was clearly welcoming and had great service!

A def place to try. I am excited to go back. Mussels were great. I order the beer broth for the appetizer portion. Mussels were juicy and fresh. It came out hot and cooked just right. It stayed hot and didn’t over cook, so that is a great plus. Looooved the broth… So flavorful and not too salty. The portion is good as an app. The crusty bread is also awesome in general and especially so when dipped in the broth!!! Then beef bourguignon was pretty good too. Nice flavor, tender chunks of beef, carrots, as pearl onions that were able to hold up on their own. The only thing I’d say, is that they use a bit too much ham/bacon in it and I would have liked a little more red wine flavor. Again, the bread is great with this. The stew comes with a side of pasta. That was so-so. I didn’t care for it and much preferred the bread. The beer list is good. I had a tripel karmeliet… Refreshing but not too light and not too bitter. It was a good recommendation from the waitress. She was very nice and attentive, and not overbearing. Atmosphere-wise, I liked it. There is a bar with stools too for those who just want a drink. Note the inside area can get stuffy. The evening was cool, and at first I asked to be sat inside. But when walking in I could feel the stuffiness and quickly asked to be seated in the outer area.

Last minute reservation on a Saturday night, no problem! This is a little piece of Belgium in Laguna Beach. I met up some friends for a quick dinner and we started off with the house bread, which was delicious. There was a large selection of beers and everything I sampled was really good, the server also seemed fairly knowledgeable on the beer selection and was able to help out. Now to the food, we ordered bacon-wrapped fried brie cheese, tartine gruyère cheese, hanger steak, pork shank, and the meatballs liege style. Everything came with Belgian fries which were delicious, but the standouts for me were the brie cheese and hanger steak. If I had something to skip it would probably be the meatballs which came in a cute little crock pot. Monday — Wednesday they offer all you can eat mussels which could be a fun experience. In summary, their food was decent, the beer was excellent, the ambiance was appropriate for the cuisine, and it was a nice little spot to grab a bite in downtown Laguna Beach.

They do a great job of hitting that Belgian vibe. The restaurant feels like some of those that I’ve been to in Belgium when I lived there for 3 years. The décor and atmosphere is a nice throwback to Europe. I like the extensive menu, although it will be on the expensive side, which typically Belgian food is, you get good portions and taste. Belgium in general is known for the elegance of French cuisine but the portions of German cuisine. Very nice blend. You’ll see many Belgian dishes if you’re looking for it. We came here specifically to try the all-you-can-eat Mussels and Fries. From Mon-Wed it’s $ 29. You get a free beer or glass of wine as well. This is a little expensive for a meal but it’s a good deal because normally the Mussels are $ 28 on a normal day. The fact that it’s unlimited and a free drink makes it a good value. You have numerous sauces to try from Nature, to Provencal, Garlic, Curry, Blue Cheese, etc. So, you will see some traditional and not traditional sauces. They also offer if you want to start with a Large pot or Small pot. And then on your refills we were also given the same choice. The fries are pretty good, very close to Belgian fries and you can refill those too. You want to get ketchup, mayonnaise, and their orange blend of those sauces. Nice, thick cut, double fried fries. We also had the bacon-wrapped brie which was on special as an appetizer, it was delicious, served with honey. They have quite a few Belgian beers on tap and in bottles. They are expensive but it was nice to drink. Service was also nice and were good about checking on us. Overall, I like the vibe of the place and it’s a good deal on the AYCE mussels. A little expensive but you do get good quality and quantity.

For a piece of Europe, this is the place to eat. The proprietor is Belgian, and there’s even a statue of Le Petit Fils Qui Pisse! Hands down the best bread in Laguna Beach … The fries are PERFECT: crisp yet soft on the inside and comes with TWO mayo-based dipping sauces. The specialty is mussels that come in a mini-pot, pick from two sizes, & choose from over 5 ways to have them! I forgot the name of my mussel preparation but it came with stewed tomatoes & fresh basil. To die for. After years of eating here, I have yet to get sick from the mussels {knock wood!}. Don’t forget to start with their soup! The cream of asparagus is JUST heavenly. Smooth, creamy, perfectly seasoned. Bravo! They make killer Belgian waffles and crepes for dessert. The coffee is espresso, Euro style with a little side cookie. Reminds me of being in France or Belgium! Also, beer selection is parfait! They convert into a club on weekends around 9:30 pm.

Came here for the all-you-can eat mussels. Okay, I’ll take back what I said about the pomme frittes. The fries were absolutely amazing tonight. Service was awesome, as usual(thanks, Mo!). This might be my monthly indulgence. Highly recommend!
