We stumbled across this gem while heading from San Diego to Santa Monica. We stopped in and the moment we stepped through the door, it was a wall of pizza aroma. It was New York style pizza in SoCal. If you like greasy authentic New York style pizza, this is the place for you.

Like many of you out there, I do not take my love for pizza lightly. In an age where pizza places are on seemingly on every corner, it is important to support the authentic spots. I admit I was surprised to see the new name during my last visit, but when I ordered my go-to(pepperoni pizza, side salad and pepperoni pin wheel) I was not surprised by the same delicious taste. Don’t stop at the pizza, their sandwiches, garlic knot’s and cannoli’s do not disappoint. EPIC!

This is the best New York style pizza around. My favorite is the BBQ chicken pizza! The chicken is fresh with just the right amount of barbecue sauce and cilantro. Can’t go wrong! Another favorite of mine is the Stromboli. It’s layered with different style meats and cheeses, wrapped in dough and then baked. The marinara sauce that it comes with for dipping is perfect!

Bear in mind I am a tough judge on the cannolo pastry. In my Italiano lifetime I’ve likely consumed over 250 different renditions of this Italian pastry. The size of the CANNOLO here is medium and the price is a bit high given this is casual Italian eating and it isn’t a large portion. Although the signage indicates that sometimes they have a miniature available. Miniature chocolate chips protrude from both ends but not in the middle of the tube. The cream tastes of ricotta and is moderately dense. There is very little«tang» to the cream(that cream cheese sourness I cherish). There isn’t any liqueur like amaretto, rum or citrus to make it more interesting. In fact, I don’t recall a strong presence of vanilla but I could be wrong on that as I wasn’t looking for it when sampling it. The cheese texture is smooth. It’s a good cannolo but its simple and not terribly exciting. Rating = B.

So, this great NY style pizza spot recently changed it’s name, but not ownership. Still the same awesome pizza with great lunch specials and reasonable prices. Been coming here for lunch on occasion when I’m in the neighborhood heading home and have always enjoyed the pizza, quick service, and good prices. It’s a great place for a quick bite with indoor and outdoor seating. The pizza here has a thin crust with the right ratio of NY chew, a bit crispiness, and great toppings along with none of that mass produced taste/quality of the chains that are so pervasive in the area. Stop by for lunch or grab a whole pie, you won’t regret it,

Hands down this is the best pizza I’ve had in the entire state of California. If you are at all familiar with real NY pizza, just try a slice of the cheese at Slice of A Pie. Trust me, it is the real deal. The veggie pizza is amazing too– you can tell they use high quality ingredients. The other pizza I love to order is the Greek– with feta, artichokes and tomato– the perfect mix of salt and freshness… so damn good. Thank you Slice of Pie for making such awesome pizza!

I have been OBSESSED with this pizza restaurant for years! It is true New York style pizza and reminds me of pizza on the east coast as a child. Almost every time I drive from Los Angeles to San Diego, I take a detour and stop in to get some pies and salad. The ingredients are always fresh, the staff is friendly and professional and the food is DIVINE!

I have been going to this pizza joint since I was a youngster — for over 20 years. Regardless of the name change(same owner), it has ALWAYS been my favorite New York style pizza in the area. The ingredients are quality, the crust is perfect, the sauce is spot on, and it is all around delicious! My go to order: Pepperoni and mushroom pizza, side salad with ranch, and garlic knots. I’ll eat a pinwheel instead of the garlic knots if I’m extra hungry — those are delicious too. I highly suggest to anyone looking for a GREAT New York pizza experience: order a Slice of the Pie pizza, fold a slice up, and go to town!

Oh man, I could eat the garlic knots and calzones until I die. Delicious AND authentic! Even though the name changed, the taste and quality is just as good, if not better. Will continue to frequent Slice of the Pie whenever I am in the area!

I’ve been here a few times. The first time was about an hour before they closed and I was craving a cannoli. They were out of cannolis but they made one for me fresh anyway! I had a veggie slice and a white slice. Both were very good and the crust was super crispy. The next time I came, I had a slice of the Greek and again, the veggie. Both were awesome. I’ll definitely be back again! Good pizza for a good price and friendly service.

I came in this afternoon literally around noon. I was looking for food in the area. an there was an ad for this restaurant but It didn’t really jump out at me, but I ended up here I guess it was meant to be. the parking lot this restaurant is pretty lowkey, the store with the most traffic I would say is the car wash, or the Los Golondrinas. but this place can take you on a vacation Upon parking an strolling into this location. as soon as you hit the door, you get captured with a lovely serene music of italy an the walls and roof are painted with images you would expect to be italian I would tell you the images but you gotta go in an see for yourself: p. I really liked it. it really immerses you into the environment. walking in the have tables along the left wall a good amount of tables, as well as outside the restaurant. an the left side is where the magic is happening right in front of you. I was lucky to walk in while a individual was building a pie. spinning the doe by hand up in the air. very cool to see. they have pizzas displayed across the left side behind a glass wall. SOMANYPIZZA’s but if you thought this place is only pizzas you’d be wrong they got a ton of different things; Sandwiches, Pasta, lil dough ball things, calzone, stuff I don’t even know what it is. they menu is displayed on the wall HUGEMENU! there was a couple people ahead of me when i walked in, so I took that time to decide what I wanted. I didn’t know the price of the slice so I just narrowed my options down an when somebody was able to help me I asked. the person that helped me explained that the plain cheese pizza is the cheapest pizza and everything else is a little more expensive. like $ 3 and some change per slice. not to crazy. I guess during the week they have combos an specials like tuesday they have 2 $ TUESDAY so there are price incentives but of course i cam on the day no incentives: p I got a slice of the mediterranean &BBQ chicken pizza. they both were jumping out at me saying eat me. an these little dough balls but there sold by 3 so my eyes would have been bigger then my stomach. they gentleman threw my pizza in the big oven an I waited to be able to pay for my food their pay area is kinda small so if you have a line building patience is very vital. but the people there work quick so it wasn’t a big deal. I payed for my food an i also got a drink, filled my drink got some napkins. found a spot to sit down. an in that time my food was ready. I also got a side of ranch. I noticed while i was sitting there its a Older person pizza spot they have some bottles of beer in the self serve drink section. they have some tossed green salad. an the other folks that were there today, were late 40’s early 50’s folks. i’m glad i came across this place it has a great feel from the moment you walk in, you feel like your actually in ITALY!

This is in reply to the VERYRUDE woman who commented on my post… Your still rude and your reply just confirms it… I down graded you to a one star… SHAMEONYOU… Original post: The ONLY reason I am giving this place two stars is because the food was decent and the kid who I actually ordered from was nice. The lady(who appeared to be the owner) was TERRIBLE… She was rude, curt, and had ZERO customer service skills… I was happy to see her get in her black Mercedes and leave… I will not return to this place any time soon.

I ordered two large cheese pizzas for my sons birthday party at school today, and they were delicious! I had called a few days ahead of time to get some info as well as this morning(when ordering) and both men that answered were very helpful and courteous over the phone. The kids loved the pizza and the slices were the perfect size for them(we had the traditional 8 pieces double double cut.) The pizzas were well priced and ready as soon as I walked in the door to pick them up. The inside was well decorated, clean and I was greeted immediately. Checking out was fast and easy. Plenty of parking too. I can’t wait to come back and try some of the other menu items!

Our family has been coming here for over 20 years… different name now but the same owner and some of the same staff over all those years. Our«go to» pizza place when the kids were young and now that we are«empty nesters». Reminds me of the neighborhood pizza places in Italy. Pizza doesn’t get much better than this! I always get the stuffed meat or stuffed chicken slice… yum! My wife likes the white pizza …3 different cheeses.

Excellent food and Pizza options including deep dish, stuffed, Pizza by the slice, and HUGE extra large. Great for to go orders, on the fly pick up a slice. I recommend the all meat stuffed pizza slice, filling and delightful. They have Garlic Knotts that are awesome. Warm and sof with a side of maranara sauce. The staff can smile more and should make everyone feel welcome, not bothersome as a few of the young help do.

BEST. GLUTENFREE. PIZZA. EVER. I wish I could eat here every single day of my life! Their crust isn’t a flatbread but rather a true pizza. It cooked perfectly and not the starchy after-taste most other doughs have. The toppings were generous amounts and the pizza was delicious. So much so that my fiancé skipped his regular slice to join the party with my gluten-free pie! Even their dessert cups were quite delicious!

Horrible service, told us it would be 30 – 40 min for pick up on a Sunday at 3:30 in the afternoon. Called for a XL Margarita 30 $ and asked for pepperoni and sausage to be added which is an extra understandable. Specifically told them to make it Margarita style. When we arrived 30 min later it was already sitting in the rack and when we picked it up it was cold on the bottom of the box but didn’t think of it. Got it home the pizza was dead cold and they forgot the basil which is a key ingredient in a Margarita pizza!!! Had two cheesecakes so the bill was over 43 $ and the pizza was cold and not right! Called them back to tell them told me there was no manager and told me to call back. Didn’t ask for my info or offer anything for messing it up. Won’t be going back, spent a year in Iraq just came home and wanted a good slice of pie from one of my favorite places but they just lost a loyal customer!!!

(In response to the comment left on my review… While I appreciate the advice on warming up pizza to go when I get home… I walked outside and sat down at one of your tables to eat. My pizza was not taken home.) Stopped in here on a random drive through the parking lot moment, when I couldnt decide what I wanted to eat. It was about 1:45pm on a Sunday so it wasnt too crowded. I ordered a slice of cheese and a slice of BBQ Chicken pizza… and a small drink. I saw the sign on the register after ordering that they prefer cash for transactions under $ 10. My total was just over $ 9, and I didnt have cash. They didnt say anything though, they accepted my credit card. After ordering I saw some prepped meals in the fridge off to the side, that looked really good — and would be an easy dinner for someone who lives near here. I was tempted to get one of the antipasta salads to go, but didnt… as I wasnt sure if I was going right home, and I dont live that close. My pizza was just ok. It was really greasy and it was warm, if that. I ordered slices, so they were from the pizza that is sitting out behind the counter, but they definitely were not warmed up very much. I think if they were hot, they would have tasted better. The BBQ Chicken had good flavor… but the cheese slice was dripping grease even after I soaked through three napkins to get some of it off. The young man working didnt seem to be too interested in being there… Maybe he was bored.

I believe I used to «sniff in» on this establishment when it was«Upper Crust Pizza» back in 2007 and for many years after that. I heard they were back with a new name and I was in the area so I dropped in for a couple of slices. I had a slice of the WHITEPIZZA which has 4 cheeses(ricotta/provolone/mozzarella/parmesan) but wasn’t quite as zesty as I expected given the 4 cheese factor. I didn’t quite get that flavor explosion by having 4 different cheeses. They have jars with pepper flakes and oregano on the table though so you can zest up your slice if need be. The crust isn’t crunchy and is between paper thin and a moderate thin crust. The slice of CHEESEPIZZA(with tomato sauce) was light on tomato sauce(thank you! from a heartburn sufferer) and tasted pretty nice. I could’ve used more oil on it as a bit of grease really adds to a cheese slice. All in all, pretty good pie for the South County area.

The best pizza place I’ve ever been to. You’ve got to try the Italian sausage and pepperoni pizza. It’s crazy good! My wife had the Greek slice that was just incredible. And best of all, the service was excellent and they went out of their way to please us. My daughter had the garlic knots with sauce and my son had the spaghetti marinara. All was excellent. I loved the atmosphere as well. We’ll be back soon! Try it! You won’t be disappointed!

Amaaaaazing pizza! I ordered a Greek pizza slice and after two bites knew I needed to order another! The authentic Italian atmosphere is heavenly. I actually found the place by accident when I took a wrong turn driving between San Diego to Los Angeles. But now that I know where it is you better believe I’m going to make an intentional stop on the next road trip!

I’ve been to New York quite a few times in my life and no other pizza place on the west coast can compare to the New York taste that goes into their pizza. Fresh, quality ingredients with generous toppings! I recently tried their subs and was pleasantly surprised to see they are using boar’s head products just like back east! I appreciated the kind and attentive service, as well as the warm welcome. Come try this place out and you won’t be disappointed!

I don’t live in the area so I found this place on Unilocal.I work in the evenings so my breaks tend to run late yet I arrived at 850pm and they would not serve me. If a store is open till 9pm then can’t a customer order till then? I was craving a single slice of pizza but they wouldn’t even do that. their customer service clearly sucks. I work in customer service so I know how it is. Very disappointed and I definitely won’t come back at another time to try this place

I like to support my local pizzeria and do like their pizza. However, the customer service keeps me from being a usual regular. A simple«thanks for coming» or a friendlier interaction would definitely get me to want to support them more often. With so many great pizza joints in the area, I’m going to support the ones that show appreciation for their customers. Just a friendly FYI for the owner to consider when training his or her staff!
