I’ve been coming here for years — every trip to Maui. This year someone new was working the counter — a man with scraggly long hair. He overcharged me for the pound of coffee I purchased. I gave him a 20 for a $ 13.99 bag of coffee, and he gave me $ 3 back. He didn’t actually even ring the coffee into the register — maybe that would have helped him properly calculate my change. I told him I think he shorted me and he said«well there’s tax» — unless their tax rate is 20%, he overcharged me. As it turns out, the tax rate is 6% and he shorted me $ 2.00. It’s principle, not so much the money. And he was kind-of an ass about it. That makes for bad business. He did square up with me in the end but he was clearly peeved. I had asked for the beans to be ground, which he did. He then sealed the bag with an clothes iron, which although hokey, would have been fine had the seal job he did not been super sloppy. It is a gift for someone and I’m actually a little embarrassed to give it to my friend. Sucks.

Still love their coffee however it seems depending on who waits on you you were offered light roast, dark roast or just whatever they feel like pouring. Would be nice if there was some consistency in terms of the drip coffee however we still love this place!

Had the iced toasted marshmallow coffee. Was great. Loved the atmosphere. The gentleman that helped us was friendly and was so helpful. We picked up a few things to bring home with us.

Went in following my family and ordered a soy latte. I thought it was tasty, a bit sweet with out adding anything. Maybe the Soy they use. I am a Starbucks, Peets and Coffee Bean drinker, so it was much sweeter than any other coffee competitors. Service was better than some of the reviews, but I had a male barrister. Good buz and hit the spot. We got some chocolate coffee beans that were excellent. Packaging and name is funny, I would go back.

I love my bad ass coffee! Every time we are in maui our only coffee shop we go to is bad ass. This trip was no different. 10 days of bad ass granitas! Get half and half of the vanilla and mocha. The customer service is superb! The lady(sad I didn’t get her name) greeted us every morning with a «good to see you again ladies». She knew exactly what we wanted and recommended new things to us. We will see you guys soon. Mahalo!

«Can I have a cup of coffee?» «Sure» Hands me cup of coffee. «Can I have some milk?» Sneers at me(no joke) «Did you even try it?» Hey pal? If I want milk in my coffee give me some milk and keep your ridiculous snobbery to yourself, you’re pumping coffee at the Hawaiian version of Disneyland. Bad Ass doesn’t mean you have to be an @sshole. Oh and by the way you were right, adding milk didn’t help at all. Your crap coffee still tasted like burnt garbage.

Depends on what you are looking for in a coffee shop. My friends and I were looking to buy some cute gifts from this famous shop, and we got them — the mugs, t-shirts and shorts are all adorable, if pricey. The drip coffee was good and affordable, and there were a ton of regulars buying their usual while we browsed. Watch out though, the coffee was HOT and stayed warm for a couple of hours!

Service was awful and my mocha went straight into the trash after one sip. No welcome greeting when you enter. The lady there with the fake lashes was not friendly at all and had a «bad ass» I don’t give a rats tail about customers way about her. The mocha was just rough and tasted so bad. Totally regret it.

Zero stars. Absolutely worst customer service I have ever experienced. If you’re looking for coffee or shopping for funny t shirts as we were, don’t waste your time. Coming in this store is an «inconvenience» to the employee. Not all shirts are displayed above on the wall and if you dare unfold one on the shelving to look at the design and wording, you might make the man behind the counter do his job! Heaven forbid me take something down to potentially buy it!

Zero stars. Should’ve listened to all the bad reviews. Had bad(ass) feeling even when ordering. The lady who was working there was not welcoming or friendly. She hardly spoke to us or made eye contact and had a sour/bitter scowl frozen on her face. Figures that the coffee was TERRIBLE… her aura spills into the product. Fairly appropriate business name… More precise would be Butt Crack Coffee. Avoid.

Excellent cappuccino, made really well which is rare. They have a good selection of beans and nick knacks.

Stopped by to get some coffee to ship home. Matt behind the counter is easily rattled and can’t focus on more than one thing. Let me just state also that there are«We ship» signs all over the shop. We had two identical shipments that would have been close to $ 200 and this guy was more interested in making his $ 3 coffee instead of finishing our request. We were in there being patient for a while until he notified us that morning wasn’t a good time for shipments. Ummm then your sign should say no shipments before noon!!! He once again told us to step aside. He clearly could not ring up more than one item at a time. Earlier he started to ring up the order then stopped and started. I realized he had rung up items twice and again got extremely rattled when I called him on it. We ended up walking out with only one order to be shipped and was overcharged for that order as well. Beware of asking for shipping in the morning!!!

I had a bunch of places to try as I was preparing for my trip to Island. A coworker had referred me to this place in Lahaina. I was excited to see this place when we’re wandering on this strip on the Cannery shops in Lahaina. The place had the looks and feel of a place that really caters to Caffeine Aficionados. They I had lot of beans for sell as well as cigars. The order was 2 Café mochas and they were really good. The beans or espresso were roasted and did not have too much acidity. The quality of coffee reminded me of the Intelligentsia beans I had tried in Avila Beach, Ca. Located in the heart of Lahaina, BA coffee is a must try for your caffeine fix.

This store is in a great location and the smell of their coffee and the sign of «Bad Ass Coffee» with the donkey lured me into the shop. My mom and I were quickly greeted by a male staff and he handed us some samples of their drinks. I immediately knew he was Japanese because he was so polite. So we started talking to him in Japanese and he explained everything about their coffee. After talking to him, my mom wanted to buy one of their regular coffee and he freshly packed her coffee for her instead of getting the ones of the shelves. I love the mascot of Bad Ass Coffee and ended up buying a T-shirt for my husband. Too bad they don’t really have women’s sizes for the clothes. I know that they have a lot of US locations and international but I would go back to this particular location again next time in Maui.

I love love love their kona coffee. How can you go wrong with the name?! I first came across this brand 9 years ago in Kihei(location long closed). Of course, on my next trip I searched and searched the island. I went to the two remaining locations and liked this one better, friendlier service and better hours. I unfairly deducted a star because I like my coffee piping hot, but most of the coffee in Maui has been served at a less scalding temperature. I guess it’s logical to not have hot hot coffee in a year-round summer environment. Get their frequent visitors card if you’re there for a week. Highly possible the repeat visits will land you a free drink.

Best coffee on the Island hands down, I went to this place every day while I was there. This is the only coffee shop I got to when I ‘m in town.

I used to frequent this place many times as it was my mom’s favorite spot to grab coffee on Front Street when I lived in Maui. Years had passed after me moving back to WA and more years have passed since my mother passed away. Upon my last visit to Maui I had to stop by in memory of my mom. I was happy to see it was the same owner running the place. I’m no where near a coffee connoisseur but I do love their white mocha blended granita. It’s the perfect drink to sip on, on a hot Maui day while cruising front street or even just hanging out under the banyan tree. It was my mom’s favorite drink — and I hope this place stays around so I can always buy her a cup when I’m in town.

Was kind of disappointed with this one. We have a Bad Ass Coffee about 1 mile from our house in Rancho Cucamonga and it blows this location away. More choices, better service, made better etc… It being from Hawaii I was expecting more

I didn’t really taste their coffee(spoiled by Anthony’s Coffee in Paia and also Espresso Italiano) … came with a friend to get souvenirs. Friend ended up getting a coffee mug and lo and behold… they also have chocolate balls! They’re a bit more expensive than what I purchased in Kihei but due to distance… this place will suffice. Friendly server…
