Great spot! A little off the beaten path which makes it a little less crowded. Beautiful view, friendly and competent service, and some of the best food we had on Maui! Definitely recommend!

Food is amazing. Happy Hour prices are very reasonable and this is the best service on Maui.

Food was very good but service was horrendous. It took 90 minutes to get the food and another 35 minutes to settle the bill. New management since august so ill let it slide a little. Seriously hope they fix this quick

My friend was VERY hungry as we were starting our day… and since it was kind of a rushed decision, we ended up having breakfast at the Five Palms in Lahaina. It’s in a prime location with… you guessed it — gorgeous views(as are other restaurants along Front St)… We walked upstairs and it took us a while to be greated and seated… it also took us a while to order… not for lack of knowing what we wanted, but because our waitress was no where to be found. There were 3 other parties dining at this time… so we just sat and waited… and waited… and waited… Finally we ordered. The food took a while to come. I guess the kitchen was hard at work cooking breakfast for the other 3 parties?! Mind you we only ordered a short stack of pancakes and 2 orders of saimin… The food finally came… my friend ordered the short stack of macadamia nut pancakes… which were average. My BF and my friend ordered the saimin. As you can see from the picture, it includes noodles, dashi, a HUGE stalk of choy sum, and LARGE slices of daikon. Ummm no char siu? No fishcake? No green onions? No… never mind. I ordered… nothing. Nothing on the menu caught my eye, and once everyone’s food arrived, I was glad I didn’t order anything. Check out the chunky noodle action on my boyfriend’s saimin. You would think that after waiting 20 or 25 minutes for noodles they would be separated at least! In case you haven’t guessed it… the saimin had no flavor. It was actually called«Hangover Helper» on the menu. I don’t think that would come CLOSE to curing a hangover… or maybe it would because the person would perk up and be like WTF am I eating!!! Ichiban saimin from the store is better than this stuff! Sorry!!! Our waitress didn’t come back, so my friend had to get up himself to find someone so that we could cash out and leave… But before leaving… I had to use the restroom(since we were going to be driving for a bit)… and this is the sign I saw in the bathroom… So if I’m lining the toilet with a seat cover… you’re obviously going to pee through it and for us ladies, SOME of it will get onto the seat cover, and 9 times out of 10, the seat cover will FALL into the toilet after we’re done… what exactly are we supposed to do?! I better stop now… (NOT) amazing… O_o but something for all of us to laugh about… I can’t vouch for the other food but if you can’t get us in and out for 2 pancakes and saimin… I mean I don’t know what else to say…

We went here last night(Friday) for sunset drinks and found the place shuttered and the parking lot chained off. SO, this location for Five Palms must be closed. Don’t get your hopes up.

Have not had the pleasure of dining here yet… but when we return in September it is on my «TODO» list. When we were there a couple of years back they had changed the name to Five Palms… I don’t remember what it used to be called but I do remember we passed it all the time and never really stopped. The location is really fabulous because it faces the ocean and it kind of sits to itself right off the main highway and Front St. which leads right to downtown Lahaina. We stopped one morning to check out the place and it was very immaculate and the menu was awesome. I can’t wait to try it out when we return and I will update this review once we dine there. Eat, Drink and be Merry my Friends!!!

OUTSTANDING happy hour sushi. My wife and I took advantage of the half price appetizers, including the sushi, and we couldn’t have been happier. We shared the spider rolls, fresh water eel, spicy tuna rolls, and Asian BBQ ribs with hoisin sauce. The service was very friendly and prompt. The layout of the restaurant is also a great Maui experience. We will certainly keep coming back.

Didn’t even get to try the food. I had called ahead the morning on New Years Eve. I asked them«apologetically» if there was any chance of getting a table outside to watch the sunset with this late of notice. The girl explained that it might possibly be available if we were to get there right when the place opened, as it was extremely busy because of the holiday. So we rushed over to get there right at 5 so I was sure to get a sun deck table… When we arrived, there were literally 2 other people in the entire restaurant! I asked the hostess, who left us standing there for 2 full minutes in an empty place if she was whom I spoke with on the phone. She said yes. I asked her«why did you tell me to get here at 5 exactly when we could sit anywhere in the whole place in the next hour at least?» she said«oh we’ll fill up» –ok well we’re here can we sit?(Two guys behind the sushi bar noticed us and did nothing for 2 minutes while we waited.) She started to lead us inside, and when I suggested outside she shrugged as of I hadn’t specifically told her on the phone that I wanted a sunset table on the edge of the deck. As we sat down the sun was directly in my girlfriend’s face. I moved to raise the table umbrella(cause nobody was there to help me) and as I was doing this I hear from behind me a very direct voice say«If the wind catches that umbrella and it takes flight, YOU will be the one who goes and gets it!» A valid point I think, so I adjust it so it’s kind of half opened and less likely to catch a gust. Now it is in the way. Not really blocking sun and taking up too much table space. When the waiter(whom I never saw, he just said his comment and went to another table) returned, I asked if he was the one who said that to me. He said«yeah I did» like so what. So I said«well if you’re so concerned about the umbrella maybe you can remove it? He said«why?!» I replied«well, because it’s in the way unless it’s open, and you don’t want it open so…» he gave me a deliberate direct«hairy eyeball» stare, and with a direct point of the finger said–«It belongs right there right on this table». I said–«but I’d like it removed. Is that possible please?!(with a direct look) he then said«oh really? You’re gonna be like that?, on New Years eve? I said«I could ask you the same thing!» He replied«would you like someone else to help you?!» I said«well actually now I’d like to talk to the manager please» He said«he’s over there– go ahead and go talk to him,» and walked off. 10MINUTESWENTBY and no manager. So We left. As I was walking out — I saw a guy who looked the part and asked HIM if he was the manager. I told him the story verbatim, and his reply was cordial but way too late. I also passed the waiter who first said«Aloha» then muttered a snide comment under his breath as we left. If I wasn’t with my girlfriend I would have lit right into the guy, but I just took a breath and left. I HAVENEVERBEENTREATEDSORUDELYBY A SERVERINMYLIFE. by the way, after we had a great dinner at the steak and fish Co. In Lahaina, we drove right past the 5Palms again. Guess what– ANEMPTYBALCONY when every other restaurant in town is packed. I tried my best to drop$ 200 on a meal at 5 Palms, but with personalities and service like that, they get a negative review instead.

After years of going to Maui I finally stopped in. I can’t believe I hadn’t been here before; but will make it a regular stop. Happy hour prices were fantastic – the food was good, the Mai Tai’s were strong. The regular menu was delicious. The eggplant parmesan was non-traditional and not what I expected, but it great! The steak was just right. We ordered a side of mashed potatoes, tasty and a much larger portion than expected. Service was attentive and playful. Now for the look and feel. Older yes, but what’s wrong with older when it’s clean and so swanky? I read reviews on here about too much wood, or having to go downstairs to use the bathroom. Yikes! This is not Applebee’s but true Hawaiian charm. The décor is warm & inviting. You are greated by a beautiful cantilevered hostess station that looks as if it’s hanging in mid air. There is a fun outdoor section(which is a bit noisy), a charming parlor with amazing wood floors. A long beautifully polished wood bar with a amusing beehive, and the dining room. It’s right on the ocean, so of course, the views are amazing. If your not looking for a chain experience, and ready to enjoy some mid-century modern charm, you can’t go wrong. Good food, service, atmosphere and a bargain happy hour!

Food seemed average, except for the corn soup which was excellent, the service was friendly and efficient. Great location and view. One oddity — restaurant was mostly empty, and we had a reservation, but they did not offer us a seat in the nice dining room or on the terrace, instead sending us to a sort of cavernous annex dining room.

The service is FANTASTIC! When I came I sat next to a restaurant owner from San Francisco and he came to have dinner there. I ordered the kung pao calamari and Dragon roll sushi. It was fabulous! the furikake bread was unexpectedly sweet and delish! if you go you got to order the Kung pao calamari. It made me not want to go to PF Chang’s ever again.

At Five Palms in Lahaina we experienced the good, the bad and the ugly. The good was the amazing view, the abundant parking and the delicious Maui onion rings. I also appreciated the single serving ketchup bottles… nice touch! The bad was the slow ass service for a empty restaurant for 2 pm, getting seated in the back half of the restaurant when the tables with the best views sat empty and the complete lack of flavor in their food with the exception of the Maui Onion Rings. The ugly was the décor which needed major updating and the location of the bathrooms. Talk about inconvenient! The restrooms are located near the unmanned entrance of the restaurant which makes it extremely easy to eat and run without paying. Not that we thought of doing that but my 10 year old did point that out. Smart kid that boy. All in all Five Plams wasn’t the worst but far from the best that you can find on Maui.

Wow. Place must be new and still working out some serious kinks. Food was good but service & management was a disaster. We saw several tables walk out during our dinner. If we hadn’t been laughing so much from the inept service(multiple dishes wrong, one person’s drink & food orders completely forgotten, server didn’t know menu, etc etc etc), we would have too. Great location and view but prices are high for what you get.

This place is relatively new so they’re probably still working out some kinks. — Burger was very good and juicy — Salad with fresh grilled fish was not so good. The fish was WAY overcooked. And it did not taste very fresh. — The service was very friendly We would be up for giving it another try next time we visit to check in on them

Great Happy Hour! Great! First of all, the bartender Curtis is the man! He made us the best mai tais! YUM! And for $ 4, even better! The ribs were very tasty. Tender, fall off the bone, the sweet and spicy sauce drizzled over – all good. The best part of happy hour was sitting on the patio overloking the ocean and watching the sea turtles in the water. Can I enjoy happy hour in Maui every day after work? I wish.

Five Stars for Five Palms Lahaina. Recently opened at the old Canoes Restaurant locations, it’s got wonderful oceanviews which made me choose this place for hubby’s b-day dinner. Since they’ve only been open 6 weeks, the prices are so much cheaper than their sister restaurant in Kihei which were anywhere from a $ 5-$ 15 difference per item. I did the 3 course sunset special for just $ 25 that came with Kula Salad with passion fruit miso dressing, the macadamia crusted mahi, and a lilikoi cheesecake. Hubby did the fish special which was panko and parmesan crusted opah with a basil cream and kula tomatos. My fish was excellent but his was off the charts! The extra spinach salad he ordered was also great using locally sourced ingredients including baby portabella and goat cheese. A lava flow and macadamia chi chi later, it was less than $ 100 including tax and tip which in Maui standards was cheap for how much we got that we even had leftovers of both fish. The only issue I had was even after multiple requests before arriving on the islands, they never sent me a copy of their menu which we noticed when we left, they had a lot of paper menus readily available.

This place was a pleasant surprise. Small parking lot, but right across the street from the ocean. The restaurant was relatively warm and stuffy for some reason. Our server Steve, was wonderful-friendly and excellent service. We ordered a couple of drinks-a macadamia nut chi chi and a mai tai. The macadamia nut chi chi had a strange aftertaste, but I drank most of it. For an appetizer, we shared the coconut shrimp-it was beautifully displayed on skewers with sauce. The skewers were standing up, in a near teepee-type fashion. It was succulent and just downright tasty. I couldn’t believe my eyes when I saw sushi on the dinner menu. It was pricey, but I ordered their tokyo rock ‘n roll sushi roll. It had«double tempura shrimp», avocado, yellowfin and crab meat. The sweet chili sauce was a nice addition along with the other dark sauce, not sure what it was. Awesome roll, though pricey. For the two drinks, coconut shrimp, sushi and the chicken, it came out to $ 78. Fairly steep price, but it was worth it.

Five Palms Lahaina opened in August and I’ve had lunch there 3 or 4 times. Always good service, always tasty food. The atmosphere is a really fun old Hawaiian vibe. The view is terrific. Crispy fresh caesar salad, juicy burgers, and just order anything that will get you some of their fabulous house-made bread — it’s a star! All my visits have been working lunches so I can’t speak to the cocktails, but I really like the iced tea. I’ll have to update once I’ve had the chance to check out the happy hour.
