My husband and I went here but we wouldn’t recommend to others. We we were going to share a bottle of wine and due to the new management they said to just times the glass price by 4. We had to chuckle because isn’t the point of getting a bottle to get a bit of a discount? Servers were nice and pleasant but I will say that we were 1 of 2 couples in the whole place. They had burgers, wraps, salads, but everything seemed to be very over priced for what it was.

We decided to try this out. Not much wine by glass selection and no bottle wine selection. Waitress really couldn’t tell us much about the wine by glass selection. Said that recently the restaurant went under new management. However she was professional and very polite. All the wines by glass were low end, no vintage info on the list. Ordered the ‘rustic’ sourdough bread. Waitress told me that they actually made it on site. Once it showed up I saw it was the generic round of sourdough, exactly the same I’ve eaten at a 100 different chains. What they do is order it from Costco or whoever as half baked and just re heat it on site. An excuse to charge $ 7 dollars rather than just serve bread with dinner or like most high end restaurants do, serve some kind of signature bread. Sad. Ordered the crab cakes. Not crisp but soggy. Looked like an attempt to pan fry it… looked a bit like hash browns. You could tell that whoever made them really got them too wet. Killed the flavor. Got the soft ‘creamy’ polenta. Don’t know why no one can figure out how to make polenta so it has taste… and so it’s actually ‘creamy’. Not rocket science… just use good polenta and cook it with parm and cream. At least they put some parm on top. Otherwise it had the consistency of lumpy mash potatoes. Probably using just really course yellow cornmeal instead of polenta. Ordered the fish special, dry and over cooked. Had the brownie sundae. Interesting, the bake it to order which is a nice touch, but why not make their own whip cream to put on the top. There was whip cream, but didn’t taste like someone actually made it. Not a place we expect to return to

Went here on our last night in Maui. The restaurant was great and had spectacular views of the golf course. We had the Cattle Burger and it was very good. The customer service was great too. I would definitely recommend this place especially if your staying in the Kapalua area.

Awesome food! The Ribeye steak with Peppercorn gravy is the bomb! Add the Yukon gold Potatoes it’s a winner. A must eat! Chef Robert and his team totally delivers. The service is awesome. The view of the Ocean and West Maui mountains are gorgeous. Shout out to Rob, Matt, Sunday and staff. We will keep coming. LOL Cookie

We were a large party of 9 dining here on a Monday. Everything started well. The food was good. Flavor were right on. We were there also to celebrate a birthday. Once our food was dropped off we didn’t see our server again. We brought this up to the receptionist that seated us, her response was«I’m the manager, wouldn’t you prefer me?» We ordered a side of veggies($ 9), we got raw carrots cut in half and unpeeled. April was like«it’s organic thus we don’t peel them. I serve organic carrots all the time but it’s always peeled and washed. With her attitude towards us, the birthday dinner was totally ruined. We saw our server again when it was time to order dessert and pay our bill. No mention of a happy birthday to the birthday girl(had to spell the name of the birthday girl a couple of times when I made the reservation only an hour ago). They no longer have the sunset menu either. We’ve been coming to the restaurant for the past 5 years. It was always good food and friendly staff. Can’t say that any longer since management has changed.

We have eaten at the Pineapple Grill a few times through the years and always had a good meal. The restaurant includes a beautiful view of the golf course. This time we came for lunch. The menu seemed smaller than I remember from the past. We started with drinks. I just had a German beer while my wife had a really tasty mango margarita. It was not very crowded unlike other times. It was great weather, but still odd to be empty. For food, I had the bbq pork with fries and my wife had the fish tacos. My pork sandwich was fine, but the tacos were really good – what I will order next time. The star of the meal is the pineapple upside down cake. They make the best one I have ever had. It is surprising there are not long lines just for dessert. The cake is surrounded by a decadent pineapple sauce with macadamia nut shavings and topped with vanilla ice cream. Just heavenly, make sure you save room! It is definitely worth a visit.

Outstanding dinner! Drinks were perfect, Robin our server was excellent. Mahi Mahi, Ahi, brussel sprouts, fingerling potatoes were all well prepared and delicious. One of our favorite restaurants on the island. By Maui standards, a good value. We will be back!

For those who knew this excellent restaurant from previous years, be aware that it does not have much to do with the original version that you loved despite the unchanged name and location. The formula is completely changed. This was before, to us, one of the most refined restaurant in Maui. Coming from Europe, it compared favorably with very good ones from France or Belgium in terms of food presentation and quality, knowledgeability of waiters and timeliness of service. Today, you will find no more white tableclothes, comfortable chairs and elegant menu. The tables are bare, the cutlery is roughly bundled in a dishcloth, the menus are singlesheet plastic. The waiters are nice and well-meaning, but the style is more pub than a quality restaurant. The food was a great deception, because they kept some of their iconic dishes(such as the wasabi-crusted ahi tuna), but these have nothing to do with their illustrious predecessors. We were sorely disappointed, it was not«bad«but extremely common, and certainly not worthy of the price(which did not change, contrarily to the downgrading of the food). We were so depressed by the evening(such outings at the Pineapple grill used to be one of the highlights of our stay in Maui) that we went straight to the new restaurant of Merryman down the road to book for the next day. If you knew the restaurant of old, you will be very disappointed and feel deceived. If you did not, the food is still very pricy for what it is. Try Mala in Lahaina, for instance, for a much better quality for the price.

We were staying at the Ritz closely and decided to check this place out since it was recommended by a friend and the shuttle could drop us off and pick us up. We made early reservations to catch the sunset which wasn’t the typical Maui sunset, but very beautiful– through the trees and against the clouds. Service was quick and the menu pretty straight forward. They had a fried green tomato sandwich but I wish they offered them as an appetizer– I would have ordered those in a minute. We had the burger and the fish tacos– both great. For dessert we had the strawberry shortcake — it wasn’t exactly called that but that’s what it was and it was awesome — candied ginger cake with fresh strawberries and strawberry ice cream. I would go back just for that one.

First of all great bar tender in Rob. Local guy who’s lived here for 20+ years we went there quite a few times and enjoyed his conversation. At the bar. He makes a martini exactly the way you order it. The atmosphere here is really cool from 20 years ago nice nostalgia. It does need updated some what. Went New Year’s eve for dinner prior to that we just hung out at the bar. Dinner service even though medium high priced was not very good. Of course they were booked, it seem like they were little understaffed for that evening so I take that into account. Service times lapsed. I had the pistachio crusted Ahi and it was dry very disappointing. For a 36 $ police of fish no veggie with it. My son had the burger which was quite good overall, my wife had the scallops which are also decent but the sauce was very weird in flavor. The baked potato chip crusted mac & cheese is the best thing on the menu add bacon to it and you’ll love it. I think the menu needs an overall overhaul.

There are a lot of things to like here. It’s a great location if you want to enjoy the beaches of Kapaloa. The service and food are both excellent. One of my favorite things is that the menu will use CAPITALLETTERS mixed in with lower case. Like, we had the cornmeal fried GREENTOMATO and of course also the pineapple grill [they don’t even capitalize the name of their restaurant] iceberg WEDGE. Are we supposed to yell this part at the waiter when they take our order? I don’t know. It’s a bit pricey, but hey, this is Hawaii. Good stuff. If(when!) I get to Kapaloa again I will certainly consider returning to the Pineapple Grill. Or should I say pineapple GRILL.

We opted to venture out to try something new for lunch and generally were disappointed. We went for a late lunch Appetizer– cornbread… take it off the menu. It is just not good. Calamari. they are not serving anymore. Although the waitress thought they did. she hadn’t got the update. Crab cake– decent. Not a lot of extra filling so you are definitely getting the crab. Entrée– Iceberg wedge with chicken… ok. nothing to send a postcard home about Service. Our waitress kept disappearing. The restaurant was empty. so maybe that’s why she kept forgetting about us? We had requested a to go container for the veggies for our daughter and I had to go to the bar and get it myself. She came promptly with the bill though! The chairs. it is rare that I write about chairs in a review. but they have these modern metal chairs that look nice but are incredibly uncomfortable. There are lost of options on Maui and I won’t visit here again. Not worth the drive.

Risky– NOT consistent would be how I would describe this restaurant. I’ve had better food and way better service at other local eateries. We made reservations well in advance(2 – 3 weeks prior) and they offered us a 7:45pm slot and did not inform us they were planning to close at 8pm. I waitressed while going to school back in the day, so I could sense immediately what was going wrong in this high end establishment. Poor management allowed employees to rush food out all at one time(appetizers, soup, main course, etc.). The food came prior to the wine we had ordered and salad came last after several reminders. The food was served lukewarm at best with no serving utensils, employees were vacuuming and stacking chairs around us, and the only time the manager approached us was to share they did not have the white wine we ordered(our second attempt to choose something on their wine list) because they only ordered a ½ case(6 bottles of white for Thanksgiving)!!! Crazy! There are probably a good four other examples of why you should not go here, but I think you get a pretty good idea why I took the time to write the review and how I would encourage you to boycott this place from«places to go in Maui» in hopes that something worthy takes it’s place. Final word– if the manager had made any attempt to improve on their shortcomings I would have never wrote this review. However, when we complained about our experience he simply said he would«pass it on.» Pass it on to who? Well, I chose to «pass it on» to you!

**Consistency is important.** I’ve reviewed the pants off this restaurant. The bottom line is: It’s a tad bit pricey, but the food is good, and for the most part, the service is good, too. HUGO. Yup, the man who received much credit in one of my previous reviews, is still working the floor, here. Good to know. His service is awesome, his attitude is positive and his hospitality kicks all sorts of ass. He’s a great server and I hope he’s there every time I return. Sadly, Kendall is no longer working here… She was a great employee, who welcomed me back, year after year. Huge loss, but sometimes life ain’t fair. DININGAREAS. There is a bar, with televisions, at which both diners and golfers can find some refuge as well as a nice cocktail and some food. Yes, there’s a bar menu, and yes, there’s Happy Hour. The main dining room is HUGE and includes private dining areas for large parties.( ) My favorite dining area is the outdoor patio, which overlooks the Kapalua Bay golf course as well as Maui’s beautiful highland mountains. BREAD. The one thing that isn’t consistent about this place is the bread. I don’t get it. Last year, they had amazing sourdough rolls with an herb aioli. This year, they didn’t have the aioli and changed their rolls, too. This was a poor decision, but perhaps one made out of fiscal necessity. BREAKFAST. Holy crap! Still one of the best Eggs Benedicts on the island.( ) Perfectly cooked eggs and Hollandaise with better body than anywhere I’ve been on the island. DINNER. Had some fish that was so-so, but every time I order their filet, it totally dominates. Tender, relatively flavorful(for a filet, which has little flavor), and great accompaniments. Honestly, if you’re on a budget, consider Happy Hour, which you can enjoy freely on the patio. It doesn’t get any better than good food with a great view. OVERALL. A great option for a relatively quiet part of the island. Great breakfast, good lunch, awesome Happy Hour, and good dinner. Service is mixed, but the good servers are SO good that they are legendary. I will be back, year after year, but with rumors they are closing, I can only keep my fingers crossed that my beloved P-Grill will be there, next year, when I return.

Second time here this week! Food is so good and the drinks. My husband and I love the calamari with the spicy mango sauce yum! Mango agua fresca is a must which is my only reason not to give 5 stars They were out of the ingredients today oh well didn’t stop me from trying something else!

I have been coming to Maui a couple times a year since I was a child and I always stay in Kapalua. The Pineapple Grill is set right on the golf course and have great views of the golf and the ocean/general mind-blowing scenery that is Maui. I prefer to come here for lunch or breakfast, as it is more reasonably priced during this time(read this as dinner gets very expensive). They also have a nice happy hour with nibbles and cocktails/wine/beer. The food is pretty good here, it is by no means fantastic but the view and ambiance and great service work wonders.

Really struggled with what to rate this restaurant, went between a 3 and 4. Im a pinch you can expect great service and decent food. We tried going to the Gazebo but the line was 30 deep and didn’t want to wait an hour and a half in it. Wife had the fish tacos which were good, fish was tasty but was lacking any type of sauce. I had the burger, ordered it medium, it looked great but was dry. The french fries were hot and very good. Our waitress was really the highlight. She was 5 stars for sure even though she has only been wit them a couple of months. The dinner dishes look good on the Unilocal photos and I would like to have tried mac and cheese. Again, in a pinch great place to go, but with so many other great choices…

We decided to come here after our whale watching cruise canceled because of the waves. Lucky it did! The service was amazing which was a standout for me. We sat outside on the terrace overlooking the beautiful valley and golf course. You can also see the water from the edge if you’re lucky enough to get a seat by the rail We had Israel for a waiter. He was very attentive and helpful with the menu. Not only that but was a great guy and wasn’t just in it for the tip, which he rightfully received. The food was good quality as most nicer restaurants in Maui. Appetizers were especially good. They have the best French bread which comes out steaming hot with Pesto Butter. Worth the trip alone!

What’s not to love here? The space is beautiful and the staff is spot on. Gorgeous setting in the bay course, you walk into a huge bar and feel at home! Mai tai for sure and a wine list that is impressive. Our server was Caesar and we went with all his recco’s. Ribs(10 stars if possible), fish tacos, won-toms filled with pork and macadamia nuts… very very good! And a little curry chicken, delish! I hear breakfast is great, so I’ll be back for that! And btw, that crazy pineapple upside down deal is nuts!!! Crazy good like you all have said.
