Papagayos

Papagayos has been on the mountain for over 25 years and there is a reason why.
Good food, good atmosphere, nice view of the Lake.
I and my family have eaten here dozens of times.

Nutshell: food is pretty good but the service is lacking.
I have been here two times recently. Both times, they give you an estimated wait time and in both cases the wait time ended up being more than double what they said. That’s pretty frustrating. They tell you a half an hour and then it ends up being an hour. It’s hard when you’ve got small children.
I highly recommend the flautas. If you scroll through these Unilocal reviews you will see people recommending them quite often. You can get half-​and-​half. Half beef /​half chicken. They are fantastic. It’s a huge portion that can easily be split. And they give you generous sour cream and guacamole.

The food here is horrible and overpriced. Go anywhere else.
We came here for lunch and couldn’t finish our food (fajitas & chicken breast meal) because it was so flavorless & dry.
We were also charged for skinny margaritas with premium tequila and served regular.
Two entrees & three margaritas came to $ 75 — dinner out in LA would have been the same or less… and much, much better.
Just don’t go here. Save yourself the disappointment.

I only dropped by to get a to-​go order but I was pretty impressed with this place. The hostess was very friendly and the bartenders were too. I had to place my order at the bar, after waiting a few mins (probably 10) my food came out hot, fresh and just like I ordered. I feel the prices were reasonable too.
I had the chicken torta with sweet potato fries. The sandwich comes with grilled chicken breast, lettuce, tomatoes, avocado and mayo. The bread was very soft. Just delicious. The chicken was juicy and flavorful. I have to say that I really enjoyed it.
I don’t usually like eating at chain-​type Mexican restaurants but in lake arrowhead the options are limited. All things considered the food here is very good and I would recommend having at least a to-​go order. Check it out!
