OMG! Finally tried the food tonight and was not disappointed. Why didn’t I try it sooner! The best food ever! The best catfish, fried ocra, coleslaw, mac and cheese, just to name a few. It was all homemade and fantastic!

If you are looking for Good southern fried fish this is the place! Nice service. Small inside so you might want to order to go. I like having a place like this here. It’s different and good!

The food was great at first, but I have been let down on the consistency of the food. My last time here I ordered fish, which was paper thin. The sides are tasty but nothing special. The owners are super welcoming and have great personalities. The restaurant is clean and well maintained. Great place to stop in lake Elsinore for soul food and fresh fish.

Looking to my fellow Unilocalers for good eats while traveling, we planned to visit this place after spending a day at Glen Ivy’s and Tom’s Farms. Sadly we arrived at 7pm on Saturday night only to find that they were closed, although it looks like they are usually open until 8pm. We didn’t think to call ahead, but maybe since it was the day after Christmas the owner decided to spend time with family. Having operated family owned businesses we understand how difficult it is to have these moments so we drove away hungry but not angry. After reading so many good reviews we were really looking forward to having dinner good southern style cooking. Since we are planning another trip in February, we’ll try again and I’ll update this post then!

AJ’s is a very good southern style fish restaurant. They have everything from fried fish po boys, to hot wings. The location is kind of hidden, so if you are in the area you’re going to have to look for it. Pros: good southern style food, pleasant staff Cons: a little pricey for what they offer, long wait at times Overall, I would recommend AJ’s to anyone who enjoys fried, southern style foods.

OMG this place is so good!!! If you like fried fish and southern style sides such as mac and cheese, collard greens, fried okra etc then this is the spot. I ordered fried shrimp lunch combo with a side of mac and cheese, fried okra and two pieces of fried red snapper. Everything was great. Fish was hot and crispy and the Mac and cheese was by far the best Mac and cheese I have every had at a restaurant. The only small issue I had was there were a few bones in my red snapper. I will for sure eat here again! The staff is friendly and it’s a cool little spot. They even have sweet potato pie for dessert!

AJ’s is located in the shopping plaza to the left of Stater Brothers. I don’t think I would have ever found this place on my own and I was surprised to see how well it was reviewed on Unilocal so I decided to give it a shot while passing through the area. They have an assortment of fish you can choose from like red snapper, tilapia, catfish, etc as well as things oysters, shrimp and chicken wings. The lunch special($ 6.99) and comes with 3 pieces of fish and 1 side whereas the dinner($ 8.99) comes with 5 pieces of fish and 2 sides. Both are really reasonably priced. The fillets aren’t huge but the overall meal is very filling. I think most people opt for battered and fried but you can also get any of the fish grilled. I opted for the grilled red snapper. The fish was fresh and seasoned with lemon, salt and pepper. It wasn’t overcooked and the meat was very flakey and moist. I really enjoyed this one as it didn’t feel greasy at all. Service was excellent. For a casual seat yourself type of restaurant, the staff was was very friendly and attentive.

Saw the high reviews on my way to Escondido and had to try it. Had the dinner meal with catfish, hush puppies and Mac n cheese. Fish was nice and crispy but the real winner here in my opinion were the sides. One word to describe them is: bruh.
