Whizz Kids Academy

Fantastic place! My son started here not too long ago and he loves it. All of the rooms have been recently remodeled. Lots of fun toys to play with. The teachers seem engaged with the kids. A big playground in the back. We recently started potty training and the teachers are really active in getting him to go. No accidents! The director of this location is on top of everything and is very quick to respond to any questions or concerns. I often see her interacting with the kids as well.
We’re very happy here and I think that if you are looking for a great daycare, this is the place for your little one!

We’ve had the best experience at Whizz Kids. Prior to coming here, we had our daughter at 3 different day cares. Some of them may look nicer than Whizz Kids, have newer toys, more bells and whistles, but ultimately with day care and preschool it comes down to the teachers, and Whizz Kids is the best. All of the teachers have actual experience, degrees, certificates in some form of child care (that’s part of the certification process for NYAEC), and it makes a big difference. The place is small enough to feel homey, where everyone knows all the kids, and the teachers can cover each other with no problems. They keep the rooms nice and warm in the winter, and in the summer they have the gigantic outdoor playground, which must feel like a whole world of itself to the little kids. The meals are fresh and they have a great cook on staff. Plenty of long-​term projects, where the kids get really into topics, and a huge garden which the kids are involved in planting and harvesting throughout the year. We really can’t say enough. It’s a great place and we feel very fortunate to have discovered it near our home.

Thank goodness for Whizz Kids. My son wasn’t just educated while he was there — he was loved. Genuinely, truly loved, not just by his teachers but by the entire staff — all of whom know every child’s name, know who their parents are, and can tell you how your child’s day went. I felt like my son was in a cocoon of safety and caring during his entire time there, and I know he felt that way too because he absolutely blossomed, from literally his first week attending Whizz Kids. Almost daily, we would be amazed at some new thing he now understood, some concept he could explain, a new word he was using — it wasn’t just reciting ABC’s (although there was that, too), it was actual learning and understanding. I only wish they taught Kindergarten and beyond — I would send my son there forever.
This is truly a special place, run by very kind, committed, caring people. I could never thank them enough for the joy they brought to my son’s life, and for all they taught him and prepared him for.

Absolutely love this place! We’ve tried three different day cares and we’ve found Whizz kids to offer down to earth quality care. Their philosophy is a mix of Montessori and Regio and good old common sense. It’s the best balance between child lead learning, structure and freedom for the child that we have found. On one hand our child is allowed to grow and learn at her own pace, on the other hand she is provided excellent resources and encouragement and guidance. Our child is excelling without the anal overbearing attitudes of some places nor the totally lax feel of others. The food is excellent, especially compared to much of what is out there. The staff are high quality and truly care about what they are doing. I can’t say enough about how wonderful this place is. We feel very fortunate to have found Whizz Kids Academy for our child!
My only regret is that they don’t have a k-​12 program to transition into when the time comes…

We totally loved this place– hands down the best place to entrust your kids too. We moved our 1.5 yr old to this school (and there really is no other way to describe the place as daycare does not do it justice) after realizing that his previous daycare was plopping him down in front of Barney regularly. Within 4 days he was signing to me– sign language– thank you, please, more and milk. Astounding.
They have their own cook (not nearly as pretentious as it sounds)– the previous place was thawing out stuff from Costco in their microwave. All the teachers are ECL (early childhood learning) certified– also not as pretentious as it sounds. The do field trips with the older kids: to the park, pet store or 3^rd place books.
They work very hard to make sure all the kids are part of the action: not letting the aggressive/​type A kids dominate and drawing out the quieter ones.
We were quite sad to take him out (now 3.5 yr old) when I lost my job/​had kid #2. Honestly, as much as he loves hangin’ w/​mom, he misses his friends, teachers and all the positive input

Considering that yesterday I went to go pick up my nephew, and all the munchkins were sitting around a circle, criss cross apple sauce style, and the director got my nephews attention that I was there, and got a «it’s aunt Cardy!» rock star reception from the class… I LOVE this place. Plus, the teachers are great, like my sister says, they CARE and once again, did I say, I am treated like a rockstar everytime I come in? :)

Third times the charm. Greatest preschool ever.
My son was hit by his teacher at the first school he attended, thrown out by the crazy staff at the next, and has found a cozy place in the greatest care ever here.
The staff is absolutely insanely wonderful, caring and INVESTED in the children. They actually care. Seriously. AND, price wise, they are the least expensive of the 3 I have used in the area, plus, they have a great cook so meals are all homemade and delish.
