Ok sushi. Kinda annoyed last time I went– got a meal and decided to get some nigiri– up on the menu it’s says«$ 3» yet I was charged $ 4. I told the lady, but she states– it’s because the prices went up in fish– and didn’t change the price. If any body has been in the market center, the parking lot is ass tight and I was hungry as hell. So I paid for it, ate and left pretty annoyed. Overall, food is alright, their rolls are decent and their teriyaki chicken is tasty. Go here for a quick sushi fix but don’t expect the best stuff, my sushi was also over cooked. F’k!!!

This is a good casual sushi restaurant – not much of a sushi bar experience, but more of a small restaurant. The service is consistently very good. The prices are excellent for the size of the portions. There are a fair number of ‘fusion’ – Westernized – dishes and various forms of mayo sauce. Be aware that it’s in the middle of LF several blocks away from any entertainment, so it’d not an ideal date place. Well maybe once you’re going steady and you can just skip the after dinner movie and go straight home.

Another very informative sushi review from Me, the non-sushi eater. So my pregnant wife,(yes my wife is pregnant!!!) was craving sushi but its one of those things you can’t eat while pregnant. Turns out her favorite roll, the caterpillar roll, is totally ok as it is cooked and the other ingredients are fine. So, what she wants, she gets so we headed over there for dinner. The restaurant is really nice inside and has plenty of room. We were quickly seated and had our orders taken. They give you an order of edamame to start. My wife ordered her roll, a miso soup and we shared some mixed tempura. I ordered my standard sushi fare, teriyaki chicken and steak(combo). It came in a box meal thing with some potstickers, salad, soup, rice and the meats. The chicken was good but the steak was not. It looked funny too. I didn’t get sick but I would not order it again(the steak). The tempura and miso were excellent. The service was fast and my wife loved her sushi. It hit the spot. That was all I needed. I’m guessing now that we know its safe, we’ll be back for some more mid-pregnancy cravings.

Note: the 4 star rating is solely based on the quality of the food Positive: Great food, decent prices, and tasty sake. Sounds good to me. But what about the freshness? The true test lies heavily on the quality of the hamachi in its raw state. Congratulations Raku Raku… you have passed with flying colors. Negative: The hostesses/owner’s supererogatory opinions. Did our order of California rolls come with a side of «an unnecessary need to comment on who you felt was the prettier sister?» I love your food and your enthusiastic sushi man, but I think I would rather spend my time and money on a restaurant that carries a passion for creating delicious food, minus the shallow personality. That’s too bad… because you cut up a mean slice of hamachi sashimi.

I love mayo but I had an overdose on the Japanese mayo concoction that comes with many sushi rolls. Maybe we ordered the wrong dishes but it left little to be desired. Between a friend and I, we ordered the Dynamite appetizer that was a bit too salty, too runny– like they didn’t drain the ingredients well enough, and not satisfying. We also ordered two rolls– Raku Raku Burrito Roll and Baked Salmon Roll. The Baked Salmon Roll was way too rich for my liking. Not only was it covered in the spicy mayo sauce but it literally had half a stick of cream cheese wrapped in the center. The Raku Raku Burrito was by far my favorite. It does not have rice and is wrapped with Japanese rice paper and a generous portion of shredded imitation crab meet. It’s presentation was unique and the sauces were optional allowing you to dip as little or as much of the mayo and eel sauce as you would like.

I’ve come here a LOT, and this is one of my go-to places for sushi because it’s(1) reasonably priced(2) good quality(3) a place where you know you can always get seated quickly. Since it’s in a very diverse strip mall(there’s a carniceria, a Subway, and a Long’s Drugs there too), I think most people don’t really know about it! Must try: pineapple sake, Lake Crunch roll or the California Tempura Roll if you like fried stuff. The Lake Crunch is like a deep-fried Philly roll… the creamy texture of the cheese mixed with the crunchy tempura is a great contrast. I also like the Red Dragon — a crunch roll with spicy tuna on top — because the spicy tuna really pops with flavor. The Fuji-Yama is good too. Now, I have eaten more rolls here than sashimi — because the major draw here are the rolls. But the sashimi I’ve had(albacore, salmon, etc.) has all been good quality and very tasty. The younger sushi chef here is very personable and cool, which I always like in a sushi chef! I had to minus one star though, because the service lately has been very slow. I think the customer service here used to be excellent and lately that has changed, i.e. food is late getting to the tables, sometimes people aren’t as «on» as they used to be, etc. Hopefully they will fix this!

I have eaten here quite a few times for lunch with the big boss. Good prices, great service, tasty sushi. Today they had a yellow fin cheek special. Awesome stuff! They have great lunch combos for quite reasonable prices.

Good sushi, reasonable prices, efficient service. Place could use some renovation, but you can’t eat ambience anyway.

This was my favorite sushi place in south county. It’s a real bummer they’re now closed. Time to search for another good sushi place nearby.
