Right on the main drag of Lake George, its easy to stop in and have a nice view of the lake from either inside or out. You will pay for the location and the view though, maybe about 10−20% above what you might expect to pay at a similar restaurant elsewhere. We’ve never had a problem with the service. If we decide to eat a meal in Lake George, this is one of the top spots we go to, but generally we won’t drive the 15 minutes to LG just to eat here. The food is perfectly fine, nothing special, but very passable.

This place is terrible. Was highly recommended by the hotel, but one of the worst diners I’ve ever been to. There were so many better places on the lake and this place awful. I felt sick after and we sent back one entrée. Don’t go here!

Can you say grease? The Margharita pizza featured barely melted cheese over raw, cold, tomatoes and oily pesto. Will not eat here again. Nice clean restaurant, nice view, but lousy food and indifferent service. The waiter dropped my check off halfway thru the meal«in case he got busy», never bothered to ask if things were OK, never asked about a second drink.

Consistent good meals even with all the crazy car people & traffic, very good Reuben, buffalo wings & quesadilla. Will see you next year again

Service was beyond terrible. Waitress never came back to refill drinks or check on our food. One person in our party ordered«surf & turf». Steak was overdone and the surf was a few shrimp. It was a bad experience. On the way out we said something to the manager who did not seem to care that we had an unpleasant experience.

I was pleasantly surprised with the food quality at this restaurant. The buffalo chicken bites were a great starter, and the bacon cheeseburger was flavorful and satisfying. The staff was mediocre, but I’d give it a chance if you are looking for a filling meal and rapid service. The menu is a little overwhelming(they have a little bit of everything) — my recommendation is to go with something you know you’ll like. Focus on the items that are made in house… It makes all the difference. I enjoyed the outdoor seating, but it was kind of quiet without any music. This wasn’t my favorite spot in Lake George, but I’d recommend it if you have a few days in town and want to mix things up.

The service was good but the food was way overpriced and quite bad(actually!). Can’t say much about their steak menu but we ordered a couple of items off the seafood menu. For the price, the portions were small and it looked like they just threw on a bunch of different ingredients. Everything was just SALTY. My mouth was literally sore after the first few bites and I could not finish even half of it.

I’d hate to think that my opinion was forged by the reviews of others before even setting foot into Monte Cristo(and while I sat waiting for the Waiter), but just in case it was, I’ll be up front about it. The thing is, I would not have picked Monte Cristo if it weren’t already 10pm and most other restaurants were closed since 9pm. When my trio walked up to the host stand to inquire, we found the hostess(and manager?) to be rather unexcited about us having chosen their establishment. I would have turned around right then and there, but they had the upper hand. Regardless, i was excited to try their namesake, the Monte Cristo, which I’ve always loved. Unfortunately, it was my least favorite Monte Cristo ever. Not that it was a bad sandwich… I finished the whole thing. It’s just that it was like eating thanksgiving leftovers(big chunks of sweet cranberry sauce on sliced turkey with ham & cheese on some french toast bread). Definitely not identifiable as a Monte Cristo to me. My wife got the caesar salad with Cajun shrimp. The salad was good, and while the shrimp were salty, she liked them. I got some French onion soup that was so salty, all 3 of us were grossed out. It tasted like it had been over a flame the entire day, losing its water little by little, reducing itself to some kind of gravy, till someone spilled some into a bowl and threw some cheese on top. It was probably an excellent soup in the morning when it was just made. The waiter understood my complaint, and offered to take it off the check if we didn’t want to try something else. We tried the lobster bisque, which was MUCH better, a very nice soup. My daughter had chicken fingers with fries. Nothing special, but she noted that the honey mustard sauce was of an inferior recipe to that of Ken’s dressings, being something of a honey mustard connoisseur, as she is. The service wasn’t bad. I think the waiter was kind of shy, not really proactive at all, but he was eager to please when we needed help, having checked in on us nicely. I’d say he helped save this place from getting only 2 stars. As another reviewer mentioned, he dropped the check off without even asking if we wanted coffee or dessert. But rather than take it as rude, i believe a server will do that: — due to a lack of quality training; — due to laziness and a lack of effective management; — when they know that the place has some really horrible dessert and they’re afraid it could actually effect their tip for the worse. The place might do well to change their name to something along the lines of «Sodium Bar & Grill», and hire completely new management for the front end staff.

After reading all the reviews I was worried about eating here. Me and my boyfriend both got the vodka Penna with the sausage and loved it. Great flavor. Don’t be scared away by the other reviews. We also sat outside that was a nice view of the strip.

Pleasantly surprised. The chicken parm was awesome(that coming from my husband who orders it at every restaurant that has it on the menu). I had the quesadilla which was just ok. A little light on the ingredients but was tasty. The location was excellent and we could watch all the action from our outside table. The service was also excellent. Overall a very pleasant experience.

This was a nice, easy going restaurant. The staff was okay, not overly friendly or attentive, but the food was good. Two of us tried their Monte Cristo sandwiches & they were delicious. The seafood entrees that our family ordered were good. We spent $ 90 for the 4 of us, no appetizers, no desserts. Overall it was good.

Place is pretty good. After walking into the old-style atmosphere on the first floor I was extremely iffy to even order anything whatsoever. Also, the menu style reminds me of cheap places which made me more nervous. But, after ordering a medium rare buffalo burger, to my surprise is was perfectly cooked and pretty tasty. My partner ordered the chicken parm which he said he really likes, after tasting it myself, it’s a little bland and the chicken crust isn’t crispy enough for me, but overall it is ok. The drinks were fairly good as well. But the four stars isn’t just for the food, the burger mostly, but the waiter was very attentive and hospitable.

we came here(4 of us) on the 4th of July for lunch. we were walking the strip and the roof top patio caught our eye. lucky enough we were seated there and served right away. it was chilly for my liking but I went with the majority. the food was warm, we had apps that I forgot to take pictures of but they were good. the main meal was warm, but wasn’t very flavourful and was overly filled with sauce and veggies. I couldn’t eat it all can and it wasn’t satisfying. I give the restaurant 4 stars for the service. the guy was on point and extremely welcoming.

Went based on reviews I saw on Unilocal.Wasn’t that great, the steak was bland, the service mediocre. Hard to find a good dinner spot, breakfast is where Lake George excels.

Probably one of the better resturants on the strip. It was July 4th, so It was pretty busy but the host was super nice and brought us right to a table. The waitress is probably one of the best we have ever had! Super friendly! The food was sooo good! Definitely will be coming back!

Great service with a great view. A little more expensive than I would’ve liked but the portions came out huge so I honestly got more than I expected. Food was great as well. Definitely a spot to check out.

Monte Cristo is located on the second floor of a 2-story building with 2 different restaurants. The spiral staircase leading up to the restaurant was absolutely DREADFUL, but of course that’s not reason why I’m giving this place 4 stars. I wish I remembered the name of that appetizer — it was shrimp and sausage with pineappple and some type of creole sauce. Anyway, it was ABSOLUTELYPHENOMENAL. I loved it so much I wanted to lick that plate clean. I highly recommend that appetizer whatever it’s actually called on the menu.

Great french onion soup, they serve you bread with your meal, comfortable place to eat and descent price. I had the steak supreme sandwich with onion rings it was pretty good. Service was alright, server didnt ask if we wanted coffee or dessert before giving us our check thought it was kinda rude but i would come back.

We came to Lake George for a couple of days and our second night we decided to walk the town and randomly pick a restaurant(based on appearance and whether or not it seemed lively). This method has yielded some great choices in the past, so we trust it. Monte Cristo’s may not have been the best choice for our tastes that particular night, however I could see myself coming back here to enjoy a beer, some nachos, and some baseball/hockey/football/etc. The menu is best described as having a «bar menu» foundation but expanded to include more robust options like NY Strip and Salmon w/crab. The execution is basic, but that appears to be their goal(which I say in a positive way). My wife went with a simple soup and salad, which were both fresh and to her liking; I went with the fried green beans and Hot Roast Beef. Like I mentioned above, it was simple, but it got the job done. I do have one complaint: Clean your tap lines. Seriously. The head on the beer was showing signs of sediment(extra foamy head that bubbles off unevenly). Our visit came a week before the summer season was in full effect so this may have had something to do with it. Side note: I noticed another review that mentioned cute waitresses so men can gawk at them. This was accurate.
