This bagel place is only okay. Though I’m from Long Island so my bagel opinions may be heavily biased. I’ve eaten food from this location many times over the past few years and I do have to agree with some other reviewers, the quality is not consistent. My main issue, the bagels are not always great, though not always bad. I like a fluffy, beautiful bagel that’s crisp on the outside and soft on the inside. I also believe that if you order a bagel with egg and only egg and specifically say NOCHEESE, then your bagel sandwich should not arrive to you 10 minutes later with cheese on it. That may be just me… The twin ladies who work here are difficult to tell apart, until one is helping you. One is always smiling, friendly and polite, the other consistently has a sour puss on her face and looks like she is miserable working there. That’s pretty much the only consistent thing at this shop. I’ve had better food and better service from other bagel shops in the area. Convenience of location is usually the only thing that brings me back here.

Have to agree with Steve M here, there’s nothing bad about my breakfast sandwich there’s just nothing memorable about it either. I got Taylor ham egg and cheese on a sesame bagel SPK. It’s bland honestly, and the bagel is somewhere between chewy and breadey. I haven’t been here in years so Idk if this is an off moment or if this is their food in general. Prob won’t come back, it’s not on my way and like I said not memorable.

I frankly do not understand the strong renews. I had a breakfast sandwich from here a couple times and I was less than impressed. The pork roll was standard but they skimp heavily on the cheese and the bagel was soggy. I am quite sure everyone in jersey has had plenty of pork roll egg and cheese with spk. This is just you average, if not mildly below average breakfast spot.

Howard’s is my go-to bagel place! Usually once a week when I don’t make myself breakfast or lunch, I pick up a raisin bagel with scallion cream cheese for $ 3. Not sure if that combination sounds disgusting, but the workers there are friendly and don’t judge. The quality of the bagels are inconsistent, even though I always go around 7am. At worst, they’re cold and slightly tough to chew. On days when I’ve hit the jackpot, they’re warm, soft, and super delicious!

Howard’s Bagels, or as I call it, «Howwwwwwwwwwwie’s Baaaaagies» is a fantastic bagel shop. It’s a small, charming, locally owned business with proprietors who have always been kind and accommodating. The bagels are some of the best I’ve ever tasted, and are perpetually fresh. The strawberry spread is heavenly, as is the lox, as is the veggie onion, etc. The latest trend in the bagel world — a salt bagel with provolone cheese and tomato — is also bomb. My only complaints would be that the food is a little pricey there, and the macaroni salad is way too heavy on the mayonnaise and sugar. The chicken salad is also a bit drippy. Still, if you’re in the market for a great bagel, this is the place to go.

Four stars only because the top restaurants deserve five. Great place, clean, friendly, always ready to serve, fresh ingredients, lox are unbelievably fresh, crumb cakes are fantastic, real Taylor ham, always the best, what a gem. I live two towns over and have to go there. Good job guys!

The bagels are good, and I’ve enjoyed the«Protein Wrap» once before. I just had the«Healthy Wrap», which was literally dripping with oil, came with chewy chicken, very stale potato chips, and a pickle. Wasn’t too impressed with the 25-minute wait either. Regardless, I still like the place and the bagels.

This is one of the best places to go for great morning sandwich. I stop in here fairly often and have yet to get something bad or not so good. They use good quality meats and the bagels are fresh. Well at least they are fresh early in morning I can say. The staff isn’t always serving with that good morning friendly smile one might hope to see early in morning. This is a take out place only and they are good with making your wait not long at all. So your in and out and back your car on your way.

Okay so ive been here my whole life and for years i came here and was never satisfied 100%. Sonce the renovation my fiancé started going there and i didnt exactly want to go back but i must say it taste as if it was a whole new Bagel Bakery. I now come here a couple times a month instead of Baldwin. My favorite item. the fiesta wrap, a nice way to start the day work or weekend.

Decent bagels for just a bagel with cream cheese/butter. Really good cinnamon raisin. Very bland breakfast sandwiches. Very cheap with cc even when you ask for extra. Awesome pastries or at least the ones I’ve had. The ones with strawberry jelly and cc– delicious! Better of the bagel stores around here. My fiancé thinks different.

I stopped in at Howard’s for the first time today after I had to fast for 12 hours before going to the doctor this morning. Let me start by saying that this isn’t my normal bagel place. In fact, until I passed it this morning on the way TO the doctor’s office I didn’t know it existed(I live in another part of town). SO I walk in at about 9:45 and I’m greeted by two very pleasant workers at the counter and the guy back in the kitchen area. I quickly ordered a Taylor Ham, egg and cheese on an everything bagel(for those of you NOT in Jersey, Taylor Ham is the ONLY brand of pork roll that should exist). I quickly grabbed coffee for both me and my wife, and my sandwich was ready about three minutes later. The coffee was outstanding, the sandwich was delicious(though they were a little skimpy on the kethep and the egg needed to be cooked slightly longer), and the bagel itself was very good. If I’m in the area I will defintely give Howard’s another shot, and probably another star if they can perfect that sandwich! Seriously, if I lived closer I would put these guys in my bagel place rotation! Lake Hiawatha, you have a winner here! Recently stopped back in at Howard’s — had the same breakfast and they earned a fourth star. Place is great, people are nice, prices are fair, and the breakfast food is damn good.

By far the best bagels in town. Everything is made fresh every morning and made with care as you can see with the quality, and it definitely beats Dunkin’ Donuts or any other franchised crap like that. The employees working here are great and treat you with respect every time. Favorite are the everything bagels but made a different style. Sadly, I don’t know the name of it but it is described as a bagel that is flatter and wider that tastes magnificent when lightly toasted. Try they’re raisin and walnut cream cheese with a savory bagel and you’ll come running back for more. For lunch I have only tried their tuna wraps, and I must say, very fresh and flavorful every time I order with the perfect amount of mayo and balsamic vinegar and bam your in heaven. Overall, as a Lake Hiawatha native, I am very lucky to have Howard’s so close to my house!

This place used to be really good when it opened. The bagels were huge, fluffy and warm. The egg sandwhich i use to have was packed and was delicious. I once did order dozen bagel to take to work, which every one loved. Recently, the quality has took a hit. The last two time i visited this shop i got the same sandwich I use to order. However, it was lightly sprinkled with vegetables of which that were old tomatoes, lettuce and onions as you can see from the color of it. When asked for double egg whites they give only, but obviously charge two. Moreover, the bagel it self was a bit to hard coming from a bagel shop. Just not the same as it used to be I won’t be going here again. Credit cards not accepted under $ 10

Fellow employee from that neck of the woods just brought bagels to work here in Teaneck which has it’s share of bagel purveyors. These bagels are better! You folks in Lake Hiawatha are fortunate to have such a good bagel near you. Enjoy.
