This hidden little gem is not only a great motorcycle pit stop, but it’s a great spot to come & drive to. I had the cheeseburger with beer battered fries(which I’ve never had) & everything was delicious. Drinks are cheap & good! Great environment!

For me, The Rock stands out for its great food and great staff and owners. The ambience is great, the building is so old and so classic and has so much character to it, that you walk in and feel like you’re walking into a movie. Having said that, I do wish a bit of attention could be paid to the outdoor patios, restrooms, and upstairs B&B. Don’t let that deter you, The Rock Inn is worth it. Go for a ride, or throw the family in the car. The scenery is beautiful and the lunch won’t disappoint.

My husband and I stopped here for lunch as we meandered through the area on a wildflower day trip. Where to start. The building of course is awesome. The food was great. The service was stellar. We shared a half pound burger that was just what a burger should be and excellent onion rings. Our waitress was Jamie; if you’re lucky she’ll be there when you try this place. She was friendly and warm and attentive. OK, I know I sound like I’m related to the owners — but I’m not. I’m just delighted to have found such a great place. We will definitely return when we are in the area again.

The home-town joint that has had many incarnations, «The Rock» has a few pros & a few cons these days. Depending on what you’re looking for, it can hit the mark or miss it completely. It’s more bar than restaurant in atmosphere & caters to bikers(Wild Hogs more than SOA) rather than families. They seem to try to sell it as the naughty-by-weekend/nice-by-weekday type of place, wanting to draw in locals & families on weeknights/weekend mornings & the bikers & drinkers on weekend days and nights. Pros: — Most of the locals & regulars are good people who don’t put up with those who aren’t. The owners are nice folks. — The historic architecture is awesome & the huge fireplace is amazingly warm and gives good ambiance in winter — when it’s actually cold enough to have it lit, that is lol — The food is usually good & they have some really good dishes — my fam loves their big burgers & the bbq sandwiches. Pro-tip: ask to have your fries done how you like ’cause they tend to come out extra crispy/over-cooked for my taste — The service is usually in point — both bar & table, alcohol & food. — Karaōke by Aileen & the music stuff by the Durons & company is good stuff; they tend to bring in some fun acts, but it gets packed early & can be OOC depending on who is drawn in by the entertainment. Cons: — No parking = dangerous conditions for drivers and people trying to get to their cars parked on the side of the road or across the street. — Weekend warriors get rowdy — the«bikers» drawn in by the décor and whatnot are sometimes a nuisance in noise, driving habits & general lack of respect for locals. — The food is expensive. — The stage area is small. — It’s SODAMNLOUD that you can’t hold a decent conversation when it’s even half full & the music is going. That works for a bar for the most part, but not as a place to have dinner or enjoy any kind of intimate night out. — There’s only one pool table & the seating is super tight — wish they would rework things with updated look & less crowding. — The outside patio & upstairs area(hard to get to) are sorely under-utilized & under-done. It could be really cute! — The bathrooms are outside of the main building & are small and old — it can be chilly out there & it looking kind of run-down might be off-putting for some. Now, when I was a very young person growing up here, The Rock was seen as a little more hardcore & I like that they’ve toned it down a bit with some family-oriented stuff(like the karaōke nights and Taco Tuesdays, etc.). When I was of age without kids, we would hit The Rock now & then for drinks or a meal on the run. It has become the place for us to all meet up when those who have left come home. These days, those with older kids frequent the joint with the kids for lunch or early dinner & for adult time later on. For my part, it’s rare you’ll find us there with our wee ones(too loud & — hey! It’s a BAR lol) — but we order take-out & always send folks visiting our ranch(Quail Run Ostrich Ranch) for lunch. Honestly, I’m not a big drinker anymore, so I would like to see them move toward the trading-post/restaurant thing, but I get that their bread & butter are the locals who come in to drink on the reg. It’s a great historic landmark & I hope to see it around for years to come.

THEBIGBADWOLFBLEWTHEINNDOWN, ORDIDIT??? After a tour at the Ostrich Ranch, The Crew and I came here for some grub and brews before heading for a leisurely hike at the St. Francis Dam. Those that know me, know that I love interesting architecture, The Bradbury Building in DTLA, the burned down home in Solstice Canyon, and the many castles fellow German Unilocaler, G, takes me to on her virtual tours. The Rock Inn is now another of my fave lists of cool agricultural buildings. Parking in a dirt lot nearby was simple, crossing the street was not so much. With no crosswalks as far as the eyes could see, it was like that episode of Seinfeld, aerial shot of George crossing the street like watching a game of Frogger. Fortunately, we all made it across safe and sound. Nothing can stop these hikers from good grub and brew. A bar for the locals and bikers passing through with a stone fireplace, pool table, indoor and outdoor seating, and music playing, what a fun house this was. With such a large group and the love for the outdoors, we waited a few minutes for the staff to join tables together so we would be able to sit as we are, one big happy family. Our server was the bestestestest, she was totally ok splitting checks up between four to six people per check. LOVETHAT!!! I normally don’t drink before a hike, I have enough problems walking sober, hiking while under the influence is just looking for disaster, not to mention, alcohol is a dehydrant and I’ve been to Urgent Care once to be treated for dehydration to know that I don’t ever want to do that again. However, I had been drinking lots of water with electrolytes all day and it was or urbanite leading today, so I knew it wasn’t going to be too challenging, relatively speaking. Waiting for our order, several of us toured the exterior of the Inn. Although we couldn’t actually enter the Inn itself, we were able to peer in the windows of the rooms. The rooms were so quaint, none of that icky synthetic bedspread stuff, instead, old fashioned quilts, lace curtains, t.v. mounted high above in the corner of the room, as well as a perched sink at the foot of the bed. Yeah, kind of odd, but guess that’s how they did things back in the days. ORDER: I had my eyes locked on the Chocolate Brownie A-La-Mode. I did join in the consumption of the brew in a bucket. How could I not, they were willing to order Firestone’s 805 and nothing goes better with a Chocolate Brownie A-La-Mode than a cold tasty bottle of brew from a bucket. Omgoodness!!! Served warmed, the vanilla ice cream was melting all over this enormous sized brownie, making it even moister. Needless to say, with four of us digging into this mound of chocolaty goodness with ice cream oozing with every bite, the brownie had no chance to survive more than a minute. Too many others to list off what they had, but I can say with certainty that everyone enjoyed their grub and brews. Oh, btw, I did get my hands on some fries, oh yeah, they were mighty tasty. Golden brown, crispy and hot out of the oil, with a dash of saltiness. Just the way I like’em. BETWEEN A ROCKAND A… ROCK The Rock Inn was built by Joel Hurd, Sr., in 1927 to 1929, first was a wood structure and then of steel, concrete, and stone after fire destroyed the first attempt. Ok, so it was a fire that burned the Inn down, not the wolf that blew it down. Although nowhere near anything, The Rock Inn is a solid place to, in the words of The Beastie Boys, «Put your left leg down your right leg up Tilt your head back let’s finish the…» bucket of 805.

The peach martini was exceptional. The German chocolate cake shot was … Freaking amazing! Why is mix master Bo hiding out here? The world may never know. During the week, expect good food and conversation. Local hangout. On the weekends, this is a crazy biker bar. Either way, what bliss? Solo diner approved!!!

Warren runs unique restaurant, bar, and grille. Breakfast is plentiful. Order the works omelette, and you’ll be amazed. Lots to eat, can even share it with another-feeds two. Good atmosphere, casual and very friendly. I bring our family«General Lee Dodge Charger» to Breakfast 8−11am weekdays and weekends 2 – 4 day’s a month. If I’m here just ask Me and I’ll sound the«Dixie Horn!» You’ll love Breakfast and Lunch here. Haven’t yet got out later for dinner yet, but certainly it will be great too!

On our way to Gorman, we stopped in for breakfast. We’ve been here several times before. We had: TWOEGGS&ANGUSBEEFPATTY with home fries, and whole wheat toast.-$ 9.75, and TWOEGGS&NYSTEAK(10oz) with hashbrowns and whole wheat toast.$ 18.95. Both were executed well, and the beef was very good. Coffee was good. And Yes, I had a beer for breakfast as well. This site opened around 1929 and has a nice feel to it. From the rock exterior to the cozy interior you will enjoy this place. Take your time and explore. Rock Inn also serves lunch and dinner and has a full bar along with bottled beer only, no taps; there is entertainment and various food specials during the week. If you come in the winter, and your stuck in the snow, they also have some rooms upstairs. One star is for the history.

I ordered the French toast, plus a side of home fries. French toast was good, home fries were undercooked and flavorless. Coffee was good. Service was excellent. The place needs a makeover, very outdated and dark. Bathrooms are located outside. Will not be returning.

This review is long overdue! My husband and I come here every Monday for some time away from reality to enjoy great company, food and drinks. Sometimes in our blazer, motorcycle riding or enduro riding. Love Robbie the bartender/server/everything! She has always been nice, funny, attentive and friendly. If you get there early the chef makes an amazing breakfast! Love the omelette s, eggs Benedict, breakfast burrito and hash browns are always nice and crispy on outside. If lunch, I love the specials, have always been good, the 50⁄50 sandwich, patty melt is amazing, burgers have always been good and I love the beer battered fries mouth watering! Love the comfort of sitting outside, enjoying the fresh air and ambiance of the nature outdoors. If they upgraded the hotel rooms upstairs, this place would make mucho $$$$! Love this place! Wish I had money to invest in the hotel!

Consistently great. The burgers here aren’t the best burgers in the world, but they’re pretty darn tasty. The fries are awesome. Service on a busy Sunday was awesome, and always friendly. If you’re out in the area, it would be a crime not to stop by this historic building and treat yourself to an artery-clogging lunch!

Great place for a quick bite if you’re in the area! For the customer: I recommend the 50⁄50 sandwich. Its half tri tip and half pulled pork in a sliced long bun. I recommend parking facing the road, it can be tricky getting out. For the business: keep it up. You handled a busy day and kept your cool.
