I always liked coming here. The food was always hot and I loved their tater tots. It is sucks that it has closed

I used to take the grandkids there for a treat. Stopped there the other day to get 3 shakes and a slushee. It took almost 15 minutes with no one ahead of me. When I got the shakes that were made by the manager there was no more than a tablespoon of whipped cream. I asked him for more whipped cream he said something in a foreign language and put just a tad more in them and gave them back to me and slammed the window. He forgot the straws and the slurpee. It took another couple of minutes to get someone’s attention and get the rest of my order. I complained to Sonic corporate and the person in customer service said I wasn’t the only one to complain about that location. Save you time and money and go to the DQ or Culvers.

Went to the drive through last Saturday night and tried using my groupon. The manager didn’t like having to use a groupon so he tried charging me 75 cents for a cup of water! Never would go back, on top of that the shakes were below average! Go to the Dairy Queen behind this place much better.

I’ve only been to Sonic a few times & each time was just for something small like a drink or a side order to much on. Yesterday I stopped here for a full meal, I ordered a double cheeseburger with tots & a drink. There was only 1 car ahead of me in the drive-thru & the service seemed to take a lot longer than it should have at lunch time mid week. It took about 5 mins from when I pulled up to the window til I had my food & there was maybe 1 other car waiting for service. My double cheeseburger looked amazing when I took it out of the bag & was huge, but it had almost no flavor, even the cheese was bland. I ate maybe half of it before tossing the rest. The tots were the best part of the meal, so note for future visits, stick with side orders, drinks or desserts, go somewhere else for the main course

I’m easy to please but I despise this Sonic location for its poor management. Multiple times I’ve come here and they’ve decided to close early, most memorable being after I got my tonsils out… I relied on slushes as the only thing I could get down, we went here an hour before close and a rude employee named Zach told us he had just closed down the machines. gave no explanation as to why you would turn away customers an hour before close… But this was not a one time experience. I’ve been turned away(sometimes at random times) at least 3 or 4 times for closing early. I have a feeling the employees here have little management supervision so if its been slow for a bit and someone wants to go home, they decide to close down early. Super lame and rude and I won’t count on them from now on. I’ve even sent Sonic a review of Zach since he’s been awfully rude every time and they never acknowledged it, let alone followed up. Weird company that clearly doesn’t care.

Every time I go here, the food sucks and they always mess up our orders. The only good thing here is the shakes and slushies for that you get one star.

Two stars. I was all hyped up and excited about Sonic because its been 7 years since I went to one in central Illinois. I found one in the area and much to my chagrin, it was disappointing and not very satisfying. The lines weren’t that long but they forgot my dipping sauce and almost my ice cream slush drink(the only redeeming factor). They gave me three people’s meals(ordering for a group) in one bag– which barely held up. I dropped most of my shake in the car(flimsy lid) so now I have blue coconut all over the seat. Food-wise the tater tots were good. The sandwich was pathetic. A picture is worth a thousand words. Ps: sandwich ended up in the garbage after the first and last bite.

Stopped here with my fiancé today.(Saturday afternoon around 12:30pm) there were a few patrons in the drive in section, but only one family in front of us ordering in the outdoor seating area. We placed our order and sat down to wait. We ordered 2 #10s with a side of Mozzarella sticks. We waited at least 20 minutes before our food came out. Which came out before the family’s that ordered before us. We did not receive either one of the fries we ordered, the order of Mozzarella sticks or the correct sauces. We alerted the waitress and she was pleasant and helpful to bring out the remainder of our order. Just a side note that the family that ordered before us waited another 10 minutes after we got our food to get theirs and when they did their orders were also incorrect. It seems that this location may have a managerial issue happening as they are clearly understaffed for a Saturday. This location has been on a decline the past few months. Hopefully they are able to facilitate better and more efficient processes by summertime!

Poor service and food was mediocre — I won’t return. I’ve never been to Sonic but saw the commercials and wanted to try the hotdog on a pretzel bun. So I made the thirty minute drive and arrived around 11:30AM on Saturday. I pulled into a spot where I could. or thinking I could place an order. There were a few cars in the drive-thru and maybe four cars in the car-hop spots. Once I knew what I wanted, I couldn’t figure out how to place my order. There were no instructions except something that read/implied if you’re handicap and need help placing an order flash your lights, honk your horn, etc… I saw a read button but nowhere did it read to press the button to place an order. I associated the button with a picture of a button that was advertising coffee… to me it was a button to hear about the different coffees. After ten minutes of frustration, I decided to go to the drive-thru. I was behind three cars. The front car was waiting to place an order. We were waiting fifteen minutes before the second car asked me and the third car to back up because she couldn’t wait any longer. She left and then the third car also left. I finally made it to the order box. The guy told me to wait… he’d be back to take my order. I told him I had already been waiting over fifteen minutes. He sounded bothered but went ahead and took my order. When I got to the window, I waited another five minutes only to find out they screwed it up. I pulled over and began eating… the tots were cold and the hot dog wasn’t worth all the wait and aggravation.

Oh Cherry limeade… my weakness. They make an amazing drink by swirling vanilla soft serve with cherry limeade. Even on my best diet day I can’t give it up. Luckily I live far enough away from this place that I’m not tempted. The food here is pretty good, a little better than your typical fast food that’s for sure. You can either go through the drive thru which is typically what we do or pull into a stall and wait for someone on roller skates to make their way over. It’s charming and there are usually long lines so plan ahead.

Only went once… kids ordered plain cheeseburgers and we got them with everything. I tasted one and… well…not much flavor.

Now that I have been there 4 times, I can say that this is an above average fast food burger place. Very good burgers and chicken sandwich, chille dog did leave a little to be desired. Compared to the other usual options Sonic is a step up.

There aren’t many Sonic’s in Chicago so I’ve only been to this location. Generally, I get my fix of good tots, chili cheese coneys, and cherry limeades from Sonic. I’ve never regretted it. Always satisfies that exact craving :). Roll into a parking spot, place your order with a roller skater and they’ll bring you your eats to the car. Much like a a movie drive-in for those of you old enough to know what those are! I’m lukewarm about that kinda service so I just elect to just use the actual«drive-thru». Quick, dirty. no frills. If you’re not into Chicago dogs or tots, then guess you can get the other stuff like the burgers, texas toast-type melts, and chicken sandwiches. I don’t know though…

Love the food, you get a lot for the prices, their drinks are amazing, and the entire drive in experience is fun all the way around. What’s not to love?

Not bad, not great… not what I expected. Places like Culvers, In-N-Out and Five Guys definitely beat this place hands down. I tried a burger and would have rather had a Wendy’s burger. I won’t be going back.

Sonic is further proof(as if you needed it) that great commercials don’t always translate to a great product. We stopped here on a whim on the way back from McHenry. Must say that the burgers are fair to middling; maybe a step up from McDonald’s. Fries were ok… really, the standout is the drinks. Loved my limeaid(real limes at the bottom) and loved my husband’s cranberry limeaid slushee. We were too full for dessert, otherwise would have tried some ice cream concoctions — which friends have told me are very good. There are many many choices on the menu(perhaps too many; we were slightly overwhelmed reading the huge board). We did enjoy the novelty of the drive-in, and our carhop waitress was prompt and friendly. There’s much better fast food to be had, but the drinks won’t disappoint. And the commercials are damn funny.

This place is a joke! The food was not good at all. My friend’s hamburger was cold, my onion rings were tasteless and my chicken wrap was bland. After that we did a majority vote on how not good this place was; half the car wanted to try the dessert. The dessert itself was fine but the problem was that when we were still sitting in our drive in spot to make a second order we were told to hold twice and on the second time we had some spacehead attendant that didn’t remember that we wanted a large coke by asking us what size after it was just said.

I’ve stopped in thrice since the opening in late August, and the place is packed at all hours. It may still be novelty restaurant in the LZ area for now, but if they can keep up their speed in the drive-thru, they’ll have a repeat customer in me. I was in North Carolina a couple of years ago for my first Sonic experience, and I’m kind of disappointed that we don’t get the jalapeño strips I had while I was there, but the limeades, burgers and tater tots were as good as I remember. The cherry limeade is definitely a 5; the double burger for some reason unbeknownst to me rates a 4.5(make sure you ask for everything(but onions), and you’ll have a pretty decent fast food burger. I also got the chili tots, which could have been a meal all by themselves. The cranberry limeade I had today was also delicious. Sonic might not be for everybody, and the«staging area» for drive-thru users is a little strange(driving through the long-departed Kmart parking lot before you can go through the drive thru is a bit much), but it’s a good place for a quick bite with a great variety of drinks!

Eh, after all those commercials for a restaurant we didn’t even have around here… I thought we’d get so much more! Its average, the drive-in concept is a nice novelty, but it’s average. The lime-aid was really tasty, the burger was eh, and the tatertots… well, I expected more. That said, the staff was incredibly nice, very patient and very helpful. We’ll probably pop in again some-time with the kids for the novelty of it, but that’s about it.
