Great Food! Great Owner! It’s nice to have a home cooked option for takeout!!!

I stop here at least once a week. I love the owner, and the food is amazing.
It is also refreshing to have a restaurant get low carb.
Hidden gem!

Very good food. Being homemade, it is very flavorful. It is a small deli kind of shop. Only a couple of tables. No credit cards, only cash and check. Funky hours — 11 — 7 on most week days. We had the beef roulladen and stuffed cabbage rolls. They were frozen and in to-​go containers. Homemade saurkraut was wonderful!

I ordered bratwurst and goulash — one of the tastiest European dishes I ever had. The mustard was a little strong for me but that it didn’t ruin my meal. In fact, it was perfect with the sandwich. I also took with me a small box of oatmeal cookie, which I really enjoyed at home. Don’t have much any table but most people come here for take home meals. Would return. I only gave four stars because I am yet to try their entire menu.

Homemade European Foods is a small, quaint little restaurant that serves up some delicious and authentic European cuisine. We stopped by after a long hike and absolutely famished. The building is small with no seating, its more like a grab and go kind of place. One of the owners greeted us and we browsed the menu.
The menu is pretty small, but everything that is on it sounds delicious. They make a few good items and they do it well it what I’m guessing. We got an order of beerocks (roasted veggie stuffed buns), schnitzel sandwich (breaded pork cutlet) and a pork bratwurst with homemade sauerkraut. Since I don’t eat meat, I had nothing to do with the bratwurst or schnitzel. But my boyfriend said it was incredible and ate all of it (he was pretty hungry). The beerocks were delicious though, yummy and flavorful filling and a fluffy, crispy and buttery bun on the outside. I highly recommend trying them. Homemade European foods also has a large frozen and refrigerated section that has many homemade soups, salads, sausages and desserts. Surprisingly, they have a pretty array of items that are vegetarian. I have yet to try the pre-​made items.
The only complaint my boyfriend and I had was that when the owner was making his sandwiches, she put the bread in a microwave to warm it. Even though it was good, he said that bread would have been better toasted. Perhaps we will ask next time. All in all, this place is pretty good and I would definitely stop by again if I’m in the area.

My husband and I were very pleased by the delicious food offered at this quaint local eatery. I had the potatoe and cheese dumplings, my husband had the schnitzel. For dessert, the baklava. We also enjoyed a polish apple mint beverage. Really outstanding. I could not recommend this place enough.

Such a sweet little hole in the wall of goodness. Lots of European organic homemade options. I purchased 7 soups for my client and all were gobbled up. Vegetarian options were abundant. True German condiments like mustards, pickles, etc. There are many frozen option perfect for taking lunches to work, last minute family meals rather than unhealthy fast food and reasonable prices. The couple is so kind and eager to please. We have very few good mom and pop places in Lakewood and I would love to see people try it and keep it around.

All the Polish and German style foods are very authentic.
The owner, who is from Munich, is very friendly and charming.
You can buy frozen or fresh soup, potato salad, schnitzel, and sweets.
There are only two tables for dining. It is a very homey place.
We ordered German plate (schnitzel), pierogi, and a slice of cake.
The foods tasted very delicious. Very different from American taste.
We asked the owner for water but did not realize we were charged extra for the water. And likewise, for bread.
If you dine at the restaurant be aware the additional items such as bread and water are priced a la carte. Our bill was $ 23.
I’m sure I will go there in the near future, but next time we might do take away instead of dine in the restaurant.

We ordered the schnitzel sandwich and the pierogies. The only drinks offered were water, diet coke and I think milk. How odd! We had water.
As for the food, the schnitzel was hard and dry and seemed to be prepared hours previously, and then reheated for the sandwich. Which in turn made the sandwich in general quite dry, even with mustard and mayo and some of the sour cream that came with the pierogies. As for the pierogies, they were limp and flavorless and I did not enjoy them.
I’m sorry to say all this, because the owner was really really sweet, and the food is all homemade and organic. But it just wasn’t very good at all. We were both disappointed and I doubt we will be going back.
Btw, business hours are strange too, Tuesday thru Sat 11 – 4 or something like that, though we tried going there a couple of Saturdays ago for lunch and they were closed.
There ARE a lot of frozen German soups and lots of dried mushrooms, German mustard and other German items, if you are looking for that kind of thing. Overall, I cannot recommend this restaurant.

Excelent food. Can’t remember eating a better homemade food.
Only two tables available — most of the people take it to go. Lovely lady takes care of your food, that comes right away.

Central and Eastern European foods cooked by the owner who is from Munich, including pierogi, sauerbraten, goulash, bigos hunter’s stew, soups including borscht, split pea and chicken soups, sauerkraut, glomki stuffed cabbage rolls, and pastries such as poppy seed bread, ginger bread, and chocolate and peach bread pudding. Also there is dog food.
Nearly all of the food is sold refrigerated or frozen, so you can stock your freezer and eat whenever.
There are also sandwiches and other lunch and dinner menu items for those who live or work in the area.
The chicken soup tastes like my grandmother’s. I have a couple of quarts of it in the freezer now.
Recently we had flounder and tomato sauce and veggies bought refrigerated in a jar (there has to be one word for this) on square French bread from the nearby Danish bakery, and plan to go back and get another jar of it.
Yesterday we had tried the hunter’s stew, and I plan to go back and get more of that too. The stew was calling out for the rye bread from the Danish bakery, so I will have to stop at the bakery as well.
Items that are made «vegetarian» or «gluten free» are marked accordingly.
Easy to miss jewel in a strip mall, that should not be missed.
