A large Walmart in Ellsworth Maine. If you are going to Mt Desert Island and Acadia National Park this is the perfect opportunity to stop and stock up on supplies.

I typically don’t care for Walmart but I got a flat tire here and these folks really helped us out after 5 pm on a Saturday night. Since most things are closed early here in the spring months(restaurants close at 8 even on Saturdays) we were happy to be able to buy two tires so we would not have to spend an extra day in town.

Walmart… the name stirs up so much controversy. However when you’re from out of state and need to get some stuff under one roof… this is where you go. There used to be one a little ways up the road but it was small and terrible. They moved it to a larger plot of land, made it even bigger and in my opinion… a hell of a lot better. Definitely a large selection, a grocery section that is quite handy, and if you need it, they have it. If they don’t have it, you probably don’t need it so stop looking.

One of the largest super Walmarts I’ve visited. This store is a camper’s dream. I came in for firewood and some ice with my friends, and we found numerous other useful items, and several others that we wished we had bought here instead, such as hotdog forks, lanterns, a cooler, inflatable sleeping bag mattresses and much much more.

This Walmart is terrible! Even though it claims to be a super-Walmart, the selection was miserable. I went in there recently looking to buy plain rubber flip flops… did they have any? No. They had two walls of children’s flip-flops that wouldn’t begin to go on a my feet, and then they had ONE single pair of hideously ugly Betty Boop flip-flips(which I think were children’s, but were at least big enough to fit me), which I bought, because I desperately needed flip-flops for the beach. I was astounded at how such a BIG store could have such a pathetic lack of merchandise. The staff was also very unhelpful. We had to ask multiple different people for things and no one seemed knowledgeable or cared about us at all.

walmart has moved to an even bigger store site. it’s a good idea to have an espresso before you shop, because it must be a half-mile circuit around the store. now with groceries, too. it’s nice to get revlon lipstick for $ 5.50. drugstores jack the price up much higher. discovered that walmart has an impressive exotic chocolate bar section. belgian hageland pear & almond is my bar of choice.
