I remember Oade’s in college being that place off campus that was super inconvenient to get to but had a great beer selection and you knew it was expensive, but didn’t appreciate exactly how expensive it was when you were an undergrad. It’s still like that though. The beer selection is good and they’re still pretty expensive. But they’re there

You’d think for such a dingy looking outside their prices would be great, but they’re not. I will say they have a fantastic selection of just about anything you’d ever need, but when it comes to the basics, go to Meijer. One reason I go there is cuz they’re one of the few places that sells 12 packs of Old Style, my favorite cheap beer. And get this: They don’t scan bar codes, that’s right, 2015 and they still hand punch everything in. Guess what that leads to? That’s right, mistakes. The last 3 times I’ve been in there they overcharge me, and I have to set them straight. Today I bought two 12 packs and they tried to charge me $ 11.99 each. So(yet again) I have to say, no, these are $ 8.98. If I didn’t know any better I would think they try to do that to cash in. So unless you’re in need of that rare bottle of whiskey you can’t find elsewhere, go elsewhere!

I stopped in because I was looking for some champagne. I used to live in the area and I assumed, being a liquor store, they would have some decent wines. I was wrong. I think this is the place to go if you want craft beer, their selection is huge. However, wine and spirits… maybe not. Others have commented on their scotch selection, I guess for the Lansing area it is good but overall, it seemed pretty underwhelming. As for the champagne, the most expensive bottle was like $ 8.50. Swill, blech. At least you can go to Meijer and buy Veuve Clicquot at a reasonable $ 50 a bottle. Their wine selection was rather barebones and nothing of great substance.

Interesting mixed bag of a liquor store: The Pros: –Really thorough beer selection… heavy on Michigan microbreweries but with some nice out of state options like Dogfish Head or Stone. –Friendly staff manning the counter. The Cons: –Very, very high prices. Their prices rival the LCBO in Toronto and I think are higher than any beer specialty store I’ve found in the US. The six-pack discount does very little to counter this. From what I understand, prices have skyrocketed in the last year or two. Even some of the local stuff like Founders or Bells is 50−100% more expensive than elsewhere. –Staff, which are ample in number, seem to be glued behind the counter as opposed to helping customers. –Dingy store, not well organized. OVERALL, it seems that if you want craft beer in Lansing, you just don’t have a choice. Good selection at incredibly high prices. I guess that’s the tradeoff. P. S. It is impossible to make this place uglier on the outside.

Oade’s Big Ten Party Store was the only place in Lansing we could find mezcal — they were also more than willing to special-order whatever we were looking for. We’ll be back for all of our harder-to-find beer, wine, and liquor needs.

mmmmm… large selection of scotch… and American whiskey… and tequila… and just about everything else!!! While the prices can be higher than other party stores in the area, the selection cannot be beat. Ode’s Big Ten Party Store has the largest selection of package liquor and beer in the area. With the option of «make your own six pack,» there is the ability to try new beers that otherwise I would not have tried. Especially since a full six pack gets 10% off; although, the prices are still a little high. The liquor selection is spectacular. They are usually close to or at floor pricing and the they’ve only been out of what I’ve wanted once. Most other stores don’t even carry the stuff I want. This in-and-of-itself is the reason I continue to come back to Ode’s.

Love this place, imagine something to drink. They have it. Rare wines, off the wall bottle beers and everything else. Decent prices too!

Making your own six pack is awesome! They have such a wide selection of beer it is hard to choose! The staff is always nice and down to earth. The last time I was there I got three shots of Malibu Rum at the door! The beer is a bit pricey but well worth every penny! Just one thing… don’t leave the cooler doors open too long or an alarm will go off! Lol!

This store has a great alcohol selection! It is almost overwhelming, BUT the staff seems more than willing to help drunk people find even the most obscure items.
