I brought my parents here to get them to try authentic Chinese — ordered fish eggplant, braised pork belly, and cumin lamb. I loved everything, thought the flavor was spot on. My parents weren’t big fans, but I would guess their other food is also great. Would recommend

Dried beef was so good and chicken curry excellent. Place is small and doesn’t look like much, but it has amazing food.

Great place! They have almond boneless chicken on the menu which is my fave. This place is a little sketchy but food and service is always good.

I don’t like Chinese food. There, I said it. So why did I go? Because my Unilocal friends told me to. I got a vegetarian General Tso’s Chicken(that had«chicken» in it). It was zippy and delicious. I even ate my leftovers. Twice… There is a lunch buffet that cops seemed to enjoy — my view is if cops like it, it must be good. This spot is a must stop. Easy access, right off of the highway.

Came here about 5 yrs ago and we are back in town. Couldn’t remember where it was till we drove past it today! We turned around and came back. He had just opened at that time. The chef came out and chatted us up. He is a true gourmet Chinese Chef! And his food was delicious. So today we having food again. We ordered hot n sour soup– good, shrimp roll-good, Mongolian beef-good & pork with greens. Lots of food and delicious cuisine! Glad we came. It was after a game and was packed with kids sharing food. I wanted to order off cuisine menu but was hungry and that’s what came off top of my head. Not disappointed. Still good and the waiter with oversize glasses still here! Till next time when we back in town.

Hong Kong restaurant is authentic, delicious, pretty reasonably priced, and just one of the best things that’s happened to me with Chinese food in a while. The only downfall is that it looked a little sketch from the outside, but it was amazing once we were in and eating. Here is a short collection of things my boyfriend said after we went to Hong Kong restaurant for the first time. — There’s food and then there’s art. Some things are just too beautiful to eat. — I haven’t been that excited to eat Chinese food since I was high. — I hope I throw that food up just so I can eat it again. — The food means so much to me I want to poke air holes in the doggy bag just to make sure it gets home safely. — It was like watching Saving Private Ryan for the first time. In a good way. — When I left, I shed but a single tear, knowing full well that I would see them again.

I was introduced to this place by several Chinese graduate students from MSU a couple of years ago. This is a great Sichuan restaurant with a wonderful selection of authentic spicy dishes. I had the Sichuan cold noodles, Gong bao Chicken and a stir fried greens. All of the dishes were very fresh and appropriately flavored and spicy. The décor is what it is– basic but the service is good and the waiters are friendly. I would and have returned to this place every time I am in the Lansing area. Highly recommended.

Really good Szechuan style restaurant, a lot of Chinese students eat there. The price is not cheap but dishes are authentic, compare with other so called Chinese restaurants. I personally recommend it, especially if you like spicy!

Get their Tripe and Beef Tendon dishes with Szechuan spice. It is the read deal and SOOOO good!!! You need to like spicy and served cold. The menu is authentic. Prices pretty decent. The building could use maintenance, but the food makes everything OK.

This place is legit. Really good Chinese food, beware of the big portions. Very nice and quite authentic surprisingly. If you want fairly real Chinese food in Lansing, this is it. Full of Chinese students from MSU with their parents gifted Audi’s and other sports cars parked out back.

This is my first review of a restaurant. Food was amazing. My girlfriend started off with a Shrimp Roll which was absolutely delicious. For the main courses we had the Almond Boneless Chicken and General Tao Shrimp. Both dishes were huge! Very generous portions served at this place. Staff was friendly and waitress was very attentive. All in all we had a very pleasant experience here. Definitely will be coming back!

Food is awesome if you go for the real stuff. Brown sauce is addicting. And if you’re a fan of rangoons get them here after you pick off the authentic section of the menu for your entrée. The disappointment: I was judged. And really offended. I was asking about the authentic dishes(all seafood) and was told by the server I should just get the chicken lo mein. SERIOUSLY!!! Did I say I want chicken? Does she assume most Americans can’t eat the other stuff on the menu? That said I went back multiple times because the food is so damn good. I just don’t ask questions about the menu.

Another brotherhood restaurant of ypbor yan in ann arbor. I believe those chefs graduate from the same cusinary school. Typical sichuan dishes. We only ordered one app one entrée and one main dish . Appitizer is the best. Second is beef celery entrée. Wonton spicy soup is too salty. Though tasty. NOTE here is hot pot !!! Hot pot!!! Hot pot!!! I missed you so much. I need not drive to Japanese restaurant to take shapu shapu but have real chinese hot pot here. Though i still need to drive 1 hour. Coz i didnt find any in Detroit area. I will definitely come back for the hot pot. BUTBADNEWS there is no sesame jam sauce as hot pot side. but only sesame oil one. Anyone knows a restaurant near ann arbor(within 2 hour drive) has hot pot with sesame jam and thin sliced lamb ? We have to dive 5 hours to Chicago to have a real hot pot. Poor Chinese stomach.

I ate at Hong Kong after first moving to Lansing about three years ago and my experience was meh. However, I’ve realized that the best way to eat this food is at my house, because they deliver. For FREE. And fast. They estimated a half hour delivery time and my food was on my table(coffee table in front of the tv, of course) in 15 minutes. Another great thing about this place is the«authentic» menu. I’ve never been to China and I’m certainly not an expert on Szechuan food, so obviously take my view as you will, but there are dishes on this menu I’ve never seen anywhere else. Pigs Blood Curd and Tripe in Hot Wok? I haven’t tried it, nor will I, but I like that it’s an option. Get as many bodily fluids into it as possible, I say. What I HAVE tried, however, has been overall delicious. And since the great Delivery Revelation, I have always ordered at least one thing off of the«authentic» portion of the menu. On a recommendation from the person taking my order, I got chicken with spicy sauce as a cold appetizer. It was amazing. Despite my boyfriend telling me that some of the flavor came from tendons, I still liked it. And I am super grossed out by tendons. I also had the fried tofu with spicy bean sauce — another good one. Vegetarians beware — most of the tofu dishes have pork in them. If you aren’t sure where to begin with the authentic dishes, ask the person who’s taking your order, they have never let me down. One issue that I came across with delivery, and this may be because that’s a relatively new option for them, is that when I ordered from work and specified my office building, etc they had a hard time finding it. I got a call about 40 minutes in asking more details about my office and telling me the driver was«in the woods». I do not work in a forest, so that was a problem. They found me eventually.

This place looks like the dingiest thing ever and you would think the food here would be awful but turns out they serve some very authentic and very good spicy chinese food! The mapo tofu is really good and very authentic along with some of the other dishes. Definitely a great find in Lansing!

1st off let me say the food is very good. It’s tasty and fresh and I have never had anything bad. The reason I am NOT giving it a 5 star is… the restaurant is a mess! I usually order out… tonight, we decided to eat in… Big mistake. 1st problem: some staff and friends were outside sitting on the curb of the Handi-cap parking spot, smoking… and they weren’t moving! Should have turned around right then when I saw that the outside was so run down. 2nd problem was the amount of LOUD teenagers… the place was packed with them. The Staff are nice and sat us right away and gave us prompt service. After our food came, I noticed that my dish was cracked and my foot kept getting stuck on the floor… where there was a hole in the carpet. The biggest problem was the shape/condition of the entire restaurant. It looks as tho it hasn’t been cleaned in years… I am so hoping that the kitchen is in better shape. The window sills were caked with old food… the floors REALLY need a scrub down… and the bathroom… oh my! The toilet seat wasn’t even attached to the bowl. The soap was empty so I couldn’t even wash my hands. I realized that most authentic Chinese places do not put much stock into appearance… but this was beyond just a look. IT“S DIRTY!!! While the food is good… I will not return.

In short, a fantastic Szechuan-style chinese restaurant. Of course, a simple line like that doesn’t do this place justice. In a town which many people believe is bereft of fine eating establishments, Hong Kong Resaurant stands out. Not from the exterior, of course. The restaurant is located in a far-off corner of town next to a highway. A casual passer-by might even think the place closed — due to the hidden parking lot alongside the store and the lack of lights. However, once inside, the food does not disappoint. The menu has the typical Chinese-American style stuff, but the more traditional dishes really shine. On my visits to this establishment I’ve especially enjoyed the hot and sour soup, the spring rolls, and the spicy chicken dish(which is absolutely LOADED with mouth-numbing Szechuan peppercorns). My girlfriend is a vegetarian and she has no trouble finding good dishes here. The several Tofu entrees are quite good on their own, and they even ofter meat subsitute for other dishes. I’ve gone for their lunch buffett, and for $ 7, I really don’t think it can be beat. Buffets are something I avoid like the plauge, but here I felt I got my money’s worth(and then some). If you’re on the fence, try the buffet first and try a bit of all the dishes. Service is generally good, and I’ve never had any complaints. Food comes out quickly and is hot. Even when its busy it seems like the wait is never excessive. I will warn, however, the place tends to fill up with Chinese students from MSU on Saturday evenings.

This is my favorite Chinese restaurant of all time! They have everything from non authentic to authentic Chinese food! They also have many options for vegetarians which you don’t see very often! The lunch buffet is fun because you can try new things! Don’t be fouled by the look of this place. If you want the best Chinese food, come here!
