Jack’s Grumpy Grouper

Had an awful experience here. Food was bad, drinks were bad, service was not great but not terrible. Also was sick the entire night after eating here. Do not recommend.

We used to drive all the way from Boca just to have there fried oyster sandwich, sadly they no longer sell these signature item and they no longer have oysters and our out of half the things on the menu, sadly we won’t be coming back

It was date night on Friday night and we were hungry and tired. We decided to hit Jacks grumpy grouper for a reasonably quick meal, boy did we get it. Our Server Erin was awesome. Greeted us quickly and pleasantly. Drinks showed up quick and when I returned my wine a fresh glass appeared immediately. Steak sandwich and lobster were served in perfect timing. I realized I wanted grilled mushroom once the steak was served and Ryan the food runner had them back to the table within minutes.
I am so impressed with the service tonight I have to give it 5 stars. Way to go ladies and gentlemen!

I am only giving this place a 1 star because they owned up to there mistake with my food, and only charged us for what was eaten which was my boyfriends soup, chicken noodle which was meh, tasted like it was out of a can, and they charged for my ice
was after 10 when we realized how late it was and we needed to eat, So we have passed this place a thousand times, we live down the street there always packed so decided to try it, mainly cause it said on Unilocal there open til 1:30 am. When you walk up to the place it’s like there out door patio we walked by a bunch of ppl never greeted by anyone, then found the door to go inside. stood there for a few minutes, I walked around the corner to the inside bar and asked the bartender if we sat in the dining room could we still be served, there was only one table we noticed in the dining area that had ppl there, so we weren’t sure if they were still serving food, music and ppl were very loud outside which you could still hear inside, and then inside at a sports seafood bar they were playing Rap and hip hop when the majority of the customers we saw were older bikers, it’s like ok they obviously don’t care what there customers want to hear. anyway we sat ourselves, a much older man that looked like he had just worked 5 doubles in a row, came and got our drink order, with no menus in hand, returned about 2 mins later with menus and silver ware,
Then when he went to go get our drinks another guy came over that appeared to be high on something asked for our drink order and I said we have already been taken care of, his reply, well tell me what you ordered so I can put it in the computer.(if this was suppose to be his table he should have asked the guy that took our drink order what we ordered, you never make a customer repeat a drink order or any order for that matter cause you aren’t doing your job)(I have been in the restaurant /​bar business for 23 years I have done everything from washing dishes, to serving, to a regional manager, and although I have a lot of mega experience I am actually very easy to please but this place just made themselves look really stupid, servers unprofessional and not trained properly at all. we will never go back,
So we order our food, which he asked as soon as he brought the drinks if we were ready and I said no I need another minute, which to him meant 10 mins. I ordered the blackened dolphin salad, with citrus vinaigrette dressing, and my boyfriend ordered the chicken noodle soup and the half pound peel and eat shrimp which on the menu says served with old bay, in my experience being born and raised in Florida whenever you see that on a menu it means there gonna be steamed and served hot with the old bay on them, nope they were cold with no old bay it was on the side, and they brought me a dolphin (mahi mahi) sandwich with fries, which I don’t eat fries or the bread, so I was like I didn’t order this, but the food was literally plopped down by someone else and he took off before I could say anything, when the server finally came over to check which was a good 7 mins later (after delivery of food server should check back with table within 1 min to a min and a half to make sure everything is ok, not 7 mins later) .I said it’s good but not what I ordered, he said nothing went to check apparently and came back and told me I was right, I said I know I was right, and they removed it from the check my whole meal which was good they needed to, my boyfriend got done with his soup and went to eat the shrimp and they were bad, so we waited and waited and waited didn’t see our server or the other guy, for a good 15 mins my boyfriend even got up and Walked around looking for one of them, didn’t find them, he said I am going out for a smoke, so I waited and waited and then texted my boyfriend that still no one has come to the table, about 10 mins later my boyfriend comes to the table and said I finally found him and it’s taken care of, horrible experience, when I told him I didn’t order a sandwich, his excuse was we were the last table of the night you know how that goes, ummm no I don’t because your last table of the night shouldn’t be treated any differently then your first table of the night. Servers need to be retrained and management needs to tune more in to what type of customers are there, I don’t think some middle aged bikers want to listen to Nelly, and jay Z.

I always have a good time, happy hour has good deals and the wings are great! I always sit at the bar, Virginia is awesome and you never have to wait for service, sometimes service can be a bit slow, look for the red-​head!

Food was bland and I wasn’t impressed. Went with the fam and I could tell they were scared to put any flavor in the food. Not saying the clientele didn’t have something to do with that, maybe if I go back in 50 years I’ll appreciate that, as for now, not so much.

Really nice place to hang out with friends, the food is amazing prices even better. There is also a game room in the back. The service was excellent our server guys name was Greg he made sure our drinks we’re full. Good dude. I’d go there again it was fun.

I love going here, great atmosphere and always get great service from my fav server Gregory DiGieso! I live locally and frequent the bar area year round.

Jack’s is one of the best restaurants around. My buddies and I go here almost every week for lunch. We always have the same waitress Jessica that remembers our order and treats us like family. The fish sandwich is the best sandwich we have had. We definitely recommend it to everyone

The fish fry fingers is just perfect! I wish I have ordered «AllUCanEat» to begin with! I will come back for sure!

Fish dip was amazing! However I ordered the fish tacos and they came out with nothing that they state on the menu… just cheese and fish. Someone else had previously stated this problem as well.

Check out the gator and wings. Perfect for some late night grub with some drinks to wash it down.

Very good food! Visiting from Texas and was looking for some good fried food. All you can eat grouper and buy one get one free Bloody Mary’s for all day happy hour for Sunday football!

Lots of cars in the parking lot so we thought it must be good. The drinks must be good, most people were in the bar. In a nutshell the food sucked. My side salad must have been sitting on the kitchen counter all morning. Lettuce wilted, etc. One of the 2 tomatoes was good. The «medium well» burger came to the table rare. Had to find the waitress who was busy on her phone to get it cooked more. Pretty sure the meat came off the bun and was put in the microwave. Don’t bother with this place unless you are just thirsty.

Food was mediocre at best. Had to send well done steak back when I ordered it med rare. Wife’s Mango Salmon didn’t come with Mango sauce. Everything served with a cowboy size scoop of tex mex rice. Steamed potatoes was the other choice on the night we dined. Place was empty, service slow. Our waitress was from the bar area and had to look at our dinner menu to figure out what we were ordering.
Bar crowd looked like they were having fun. Out door bar built over the parking lot. Noisy street traffic.
Go for the drinks and the hanging TVs in the bar. Skip the restaurant.

Yes all the reviews are true. The wait staff sucks and the food is inferior. We loved the original establishment so we thought we would give the place a chance.
I had the fried grouper strips. Long John Silvers has better fish. The only reason I gave two stars was because my mother liked the stuffed grouper.
We ordered a bottle of wine. After a LONG absence the waiter returned and said they didn’t have the kind we wanted for $ 29 but we could pay $ 41 for another kind. When we balked, he disappeared and finally returned with the same bottle of wine for $ 29.
There were 5 of us at the table. 3 of us wanted a to-​go box. We EACH had to ask him for a box as he ran by. So he obviously had no clue about was happening at his table.
We will not return.

Nice location but I couldn’t say the same for the food– I tried the fish and chips and hush puppies. The fish quality was not the best tasting and heavily battered and salty in taste– the hush puppies were about the same with not much flavor.
I had high hopes when I walked in– lovely display on the plate– I honestly wished I could share the same about the taste.

Stopped here for lunch yesterday with co-​workers. It was nothing special. In my opinion it’s a less exciting version of the Old Key Lime House.
I had the shrimp wharf sandwich, which was just ok. The shrimp was good, but the bread was kind of hard and they only give one dinky little piece of lettuce that fits on maybe ¼ of the sandwich.
Otherwise, it was just an ok stop for a quick bite to eat.

The food is a hit or a miss here. Some dishes are pretty good but others not so much. Peel and eat shrimp, and mussels were pretty good. Nachos are huge!
Drinks are also not consistent. Sometimes it’s all juice. I think it’s a little pricey for what it is. But they have live music which is always a plus. Parking lot is cramped.
