Alot of reviews here are confusing this place for the restaurant bearing the same name in El Paso. This is the Las Cruces place. That said, I’m sorry to leave a bad review as the staff was very nice, and the waitress was on top of things(which is rare in this town). I had the prime rib. It was a good size portion, but was very stringy and hard to cut. I could not even cut the fat because it was so rubbery. Unfortunately, that night the food poisoning set in and for the next day and a half I was a wreck. I’ll spare the graphic details, but it was bad… sorry guys, I’ll come back for beers, but not the food…

Visiting El Paso for business, I had heard about this place for a while. One of my previous visits my team said we’re going to take you out to Cattleman’s and I was very excited. First, the place itself I did not fully expect — by this I mean the animals, the size of the actual ranch. I thought the name was more of a gimmick, but it really is a ranch. It was enjoyable to be sitting at the table and with the high windows see the scenery and see coyotes walking around 5 feet beyond. The food I held high hopes for, given how people had raved I was salivating by the time we ordered. I went with a filet. For sides you get a choice of a number of standards, nothing exciting here — remember though you’re not at some upscale steakhouse — this is something different. Their focus is on freshness and good meat rather than wowing you with Wagyu or unique sides. The steak was excellent — was it the best I had ever had? No. However, it was very unique. The steak was so juicy, so tender and had a flavor I cannot fully describe but not anything I had necessarily had in filets elsewhere. The next time I am in El Paso I would definitely come here. Though a bit of a hike, the drive is worth it.

Unfortunately the steak at this establishment is not from the same group that runs the El Paso and Austin locations. I ordered a fillet mignon, medium cooked, the product provided was crap! I got a regular old steak and 60% off it was fat, also there was a pungent taste to the meat, it was odd so I had to latter it in A-1 sauce. Now I know why nobody else was eating meat and only eating salads, what a let down.

A great local Steak House with friendly people, good food and drinks, and an awesome Ribeye! The main dinning area is closed now with discussion of opening a Tap Room with local brewed New Mexico beers. As of now you can get a handful of local NM brews in cans or bottles, as well as a selection of various other main stream beers on tap and/or in bottles. Plus a fully stocked bar. So in the mean time the bar area is open for drinks and dinner service. It may not look like much… but it’s a great hole in the wall with good food and drinks. I suggest the 8oz Ribeye Steak Dinner. Great tasting steaks, comes with side salad and 1 other side all for a reasonable cost of roughly $ 12.99.

My boyfriend and I first came here 2 years ago when we were touring around New Mexico; enjoyed it so much we made it a point to go back on this trip as well. Gary had the prime rib and a side of asparagus; he raved about both. I had the spencer steak, also delicious! Each meal includes one side and a trip to the soup/salad bar. Great service, reasonable price for a yummy steak dinner, will definitely go back.

Food was overpriced and lacking in freshness. It was nice when the had a local band playing on Friday and Saturday nights. Other than that there were not many positives.

My husband and I really enjoy this old, rundown bar and restaurant. We regularly get the 8 oz ribeyes with salad. I almost always get onion rings with it, and he gets mashed potatoes or fries. The food is great and inexpensive. Staff is very friendly and usually very attentive.

Salad bar is awesome. But that is about all this restaurant has to offer. Ordered prime rib pretty tasteless. Rib eye was worst. Stick with the salad bar and you get your moneys worth.

This place is old school and that’s probably why there are negative comments here from a bunch of chain-store hipsters. The beer is cold, the ribeye & the mashed potatoes are both great! The staff is friendly and I’d come back.

Worst restaurant in Las Cruces. I don’t know how they still operate as a business. Heavily understaffed and understocked this place will suck the life force out of your wallet and have nothing to show for it. Do yourself a favor and skip this place the next time you’re driving on the 70.

Had the ribeye there last night and it was cooked and marinated perfectly with a great grilled flavor. We also had the nachos which were OK. For Las Cruces this place is a welcome change, at least its not pretending to be something it is not, like many of the«nice» places in town. We ate in the bar with live music, and our bill was under $ 40, so I cant complain. The waitress we had was great, much better than average for Las Cruces.

Their hamburgers & brisket are DELICIOUS! The service is lacking but the great food makes up for it.

Maybe 3 or 4 years ago, this location might have been a 4*, but I think that the quality of the food has gone downhill. Our experience there was OK, but there are many better places to have a steak, etc.

This place is terrible. I’m sure everything was straight from the microwave including the steak. About 90% of my $ 18 steak was grissle and inedible. Every Pepsi they brought was flat as though it was coming from a 2 liter bottle that had been opened for days. The menu said that dinner included hot rolls, but I had to ask for the rolls. Waitress said that the rolls are included but only when requested. Basically they hope you don’t ask for the rolls, so they can save a few bucks. At my amazement, my dinner role was a hoagie bun on a plate that was microwaved to long. It’s obvious the owners take no pride in there business, based on how junky the restaurant looked. Please trust me and save your money. The waitress was nice though.

What use to be the best steak house in Las Cruces is not anymore, and their«salad bar» leaves a lot to be desired. The steaks so-so.

An older, local place. It’s age is definately showing which adds to the character. Service was pretty good, though the place was empty the night we went. Steaks were way overcooked(asked for Medium and got very well done). They were still pretty tender and had some flavor, though they had excess grissle – I think if they were cooked to order, they could have been quite good. The side items were unremarkable and I would have been disappointed if I paid extra for them. I might be willing to give them a try again since they seem a bit different than the chain-restaurants.

Flavorful prime rib… whatever they marinate their beef in makes them pretty memorable. The wings and chicken tenders were satisfying. The portions were enough to make you want to take a good cat nap when you leave. We were celebrating a birthday so we got the complimentary pecan sundae… mmmm. We learned that it is customary at Cattleman’s that they not only sing to you but the owner of the restaurant tap dances as well on a birthday. Located off the side of Hwy 10, this seems like a local hang out. The bar area was full and everyone was having a great time. Our server was Brianne… she did a great job! We’ll make a return visit to try some other dishes.
