Visiting iceberg is definitely a highlight of my trips to Lavallette. I am never disappointed with my order here. Everything I have had so far has been delicious– coconut ice cream with real chunks of coconut, chocolate peanut butter with the perfect balance of both, even their cookie dough– a typically overlooked flavor was outrageous. Basically they put their own special touch on everything and it shows. Tonight I had the fluffer nutter sundae. I had my choice of hard or soft vanilla ice cream(I chose soft) with marshmallow and peanut butter sauce, mini marshmallows, peanut butter chips and topped with whipped cream– absolutely delicious. My only complaint was that there should have been more ice cream in the large cup they provided. This place is definitely a local hot spot but don’t be scared off by the long line on a summer night. It moves fast and also gives you time to decide on your order!

Been having ice cream here since about 8yrs old. Simply amazing old school shore ice cream parlor ! Whatever they are doing right shows. They have have lines out the door each night during the summer season. You won’t be disappointed.

Last night after dinner, we went on a mission for some delicious by-the-shore ice cream. It was a choice between Iceberg Ice Cream and Kohr’s. Since we already had Kohr’s on the boardwalk and weren’t that impressed, we went with Iceberg despite the massive crowd there… and I’m so glad Iceberg won out! It was very crowded, but they move the line pretty quickly. They have 40 soft serve flavors(!) and many, many hard ice cream flavors, in addition to shakes, ice cream sandwiches, sundaes and more. I sampled the mint chocolate chip and peanut butter twirl and went with a medium(which was HUGE) PB. It. Was. Heaven.(on a spoon). My husband got a cherry vanilla shake(which was delicious, albeit could’ve been thicker), and ice cream sandwich. The other people with us got death by chocolate, mint chocolate chip, and butter pecan. Although the cookies for the ice cream sandwich weren’t good, all of the ice cream flavors were delicious, especially the butter pecan. It’s a bit pricey, but well worth it. My mouth is watering thinking of our next visit!

Iceberg is a traditional family ice cream parlor. I was very impressed by their system of taking orders. The customer orders at the cashier, gets a numbered ticket, and then the order is fulfilled by one of the«scoopers». This cut down on waiting times in the summer and kept people from elbowing one another. As mentioned by another Unilocaler, the soft serve is cream base with a selection of 40 flavor shots. There is a wide variety of hard ice cream flavor a too. I went with the chocolate peanut butter which had an adequate peanut butter to ice cream ratio.(This is an important detail to any chocolate peanut butter fan!) I would highly recommend Iceberg to families looking for a sweet treat in Lavallette. The staff was very friendly and welcoming.

Being the spoiled New Yorker I am, I pouted to my boyfriend, «I want artisanal homemade ice cream, I don’t want generic, mass-produced flavors.» He said, «What flavors are you looking for?» «Hmm… Earl grey lavender, fig and goat cheese?» «You’re not gonna get any of that here in Lavallete, NJ,» he scoffed. «Where do you think we are, New York?» Despite the lack of aforementioned flavors, Iceberg ice cream comes pretty damn close to having creative hard ice cream options. German red velvet, salted caramel chip, mocha fudge were the more interesting ones. The smallest portion is huge(approximately half a pint!) at $ 3.75 so that should more than suffice. The salted caramel chip was pretty delicious but I got pretty tired of it halfway through.

The coffee ice cream was not very good at all, it was very icy and tasteless. The moose tracks was decent, and the peanut butter swirl thing had about no peanut butter. While I didn’t get the soft serve, I saw what it was. The«40 choices» was really just syrup in bottles. While it may have tasted good, I felt like it was fake. Overall, skip Iceberg Ice Cream, and just go somewhere else.

I did like their«Flavors Of Soft Serve» which you can pick and mix from now 40 choices. But it’s just a sweet base cream with flavor shots mixed in, so go for the hard homemade ice cream for the real deal! Nice place. Fast, friendly, with seating in or outside in shade. But best of all, grab some napkins and stroll down the boardwalk to jealous comments.

Our family friends have a house nearby, so it’s a must to hit this place up at least twice while we’re down there. Always a long line in the summer, which speaks to their quality. Always have a lot of staff on hand though, so it moves fast. I usually go w/something really basic and boring like the strawberry shake, but it always comes out thick and with a lot of strawberries. A must if down near Lavallette.

There are quite a few ice cream shops on this stretch of 35, and we started going here simply of convenience, but have discovered redeeming factors along the way. They have rotating flavors of hard ice cream with interesting specials, your standard toppings, and many flavors of soft serve. The ice cream isn’t as sweet as Salty’s down the street, but it doesn’t smell like waffles when you walk in so its a toss up. The lines move fast and you can usually find a seat outside, although sometimes it is a bit sticky. They renovated after Sandy and now have more room inside– we’ll see if it improves the flow of things. Now that its summer, I can’t wait to come here a couple times a weekend. Maybe I’ll see you there :)

All ice cream places, especially at a vacation destination, are expensive. If you can get over the prices, the ice cream here is really good. I always get soft serve yogurt with sprinkles and they always load the sprinkles on(just the way I like them!). The staff is always friendly and helpful. Their hard ice cream flavors seem delicious and there is a great variety but since I always get soft serve I can’t comment on the taste. Their ice cream cakes are the BEST!

I reserve the 5th star for multiple great visits. So far, I’m impressed. The chocolate peanut butter is amazing. Friendly staff and great outside area at night. Lots of places to choose from down here, but this one rocks the house.
