I can’t believe I’ve never eaten here before! Stopped for lunch – I LOVE the«make your own salad» option! My only suggestion would be to also have a low fat or fat free salad dressing. My husband had one of the breakfast meals & he said it was very good. Prices are right & the service was good. I’ll definitely be back!

Megs is great. I honestly cannot say a single negative thing about this place. The french toast is amazing, and so are all of the sandwiches and wraps. I can’t wait for the summer so I can get Megs while on my lunch break again

An average place– nothing special. It is crowded because it is one of the few places for breakfast in Lavallette. When crowded the service is slow. Been there several times –the food and service are average.

«Big Als big A» breakfast was fantastic. Eggs, excellent home fries, crip bacon, delicious sausage links, pork roll, french toast and side of rye toast. YUMMY. Wife had ham, onion omlette and fruit. Omlette was great, fruit cup was so – so, unripe fruit/mellon. Son had«meat lovers» omlette and said«best ever». Daughter in law loved her scrambler! Definitly will return as we are in Lavallette often and just discovered this gem. Great service on a very busy summer sunday.

First time to Meg’s, and I won’t go back. My boyfriend and I were greeting quickly, and sat within 5 minutes of waiting. The host basically threw the menus on the table, and I watched her do exactly that to other guest as well. We were greeted by a server quickly, who we asked for water from. When he came back, we weren’t ready, and no one came back for a while. We had to make it extremely obvious that we were ready to order. Finally a lady came by. I ordered an omelet and specifically asked for no toast due to having celiac. My meal came with toast on top of my omelet. Aside from this complication, my meal was average. I absolutely could have made a meal of this quality at home. My boyfriend ordered the«Clean up set». His pancakes were so dry. He’s not a very big syrup user, but I’ve never seen him use so much before! No amount of syrup could have helped him. On top of the low quality– average food, the service was terrible. Our server never once checked on us, asked if we needed anything, etc. After we were done, we waited for the check, and waited, and waited. But no one ever came. We tried to flag down the server but she just walked by. We had to go up to ask for our check, and the lady at the counter seemed annoyed that we bothered her. Overall: food was nothing special, service was terrible, and slow. Don’t know how it had so much business or good reviews!

This is our all one favorite spot on the shore. Can not beat the prices, the hospitality, or the quality of food. My niece and I always look forward to lunch while vacationing in the area and try to have breakfast at least once. It is the perfect spot to hit while in town.

I can’t believe this place has 4 stars! Worst service I’ve ever experienced. our waitress sat and ate breakfast at the counter, meanwhile we waited for our toast that never came! My friend ordered a chocolate milk and she came out with a Nesquik bottle ?! That’s not what you expect when you order chocolate milk at a restaurant. It’s really that hard to mix chocolate syrup and fresh milk? The pancakes were so dry we couldn’t even eat them — no amount of butter or syrup could save them! Omelets were eh okay — would compare to a cheap diner. Overall: the waitress looked miserable, service was terrible and food was not good. So sad that because they are the only breakfast spot in the immediate area they think subpar service and food is okay — will not be coming back!

Stopped here for breakfast before leaving the shore. Six of us were seated immediately. The waitress was very nice and the service was good. I ordered chocolate chip pancakes with a side of bacon. There weren’t many chocolate chips, but it was still a good breakfast. The bacon was cooked perfectly. Overall Meg’s grill is a wonderful shore breakfast/brunch spot.

I’d say we are breakfast professionals we love to try new places but always come back to Meg’s grill. The breakfast potatoes are my favorite around the seasoning is so perfect and crispy and the pancakes are delish. Nothing crazy I just get the pancakes eggs and potatoes but it’s all you need! Great service but avoid a summer weekend if you can… But I’ve waited just for the yummy food many times

Cute outdoor eating. Wish they had real home fries(like potatoes, not fried tots). Staff is professional. Probably one of the better breakfasts in the area.

We came in for breakfast and sat outside which was very nice. So the ambiance is nice and the staff was very friendly. The menu has a great selection for both breakfast and lunch and the prices were very fair. I would say that the food was very mediocre. It wasn’t particularly hot when if was served and every thing was plain. The breakfast potatoes were very yummy, but everything else was simply mediocre. I think we’ll stick with Bobbers.

Today, I came to eat and was disappointed. While the food was excellent(the sandbar sandwich) the service and seating was horrible. I came in a group of five people, and we were told to wait just a little bit. So we waited, and waited. I saw two people sitting at a table that could seat at least six or seven people. Come on. Really? Anyway, after waiting for about an hour, we decided to just do take out, because it was taking so long. I was very disappointed.

I wanted to give it 3 ½ stars but that’s not an option. So, I rounded up. The last time we went here it was wonderful. This time it was just ok. The home fries were way overcooked– not burnt but hard. The omelet was good with a nice variety of veggies. The service was not wonderful at all. I think our waitress said maybe 5 words to us the entire time. I asked what kind of veggies were in the omelet and she just answered with a variety. Ok, I’ll let that go because I like all veggies but I was just curious. Someone else brought our food out. Then, within 3 minutes of that the waitress was back– asked if she needed anything and left the check. We were eating outside. So, I guess we were on our own from that point forward? Over all it was decent– we will be back. One serving of overcooked home fries and a cold waitress isn’t enough to stay away forever– unless it continues.

A very good breakfast/brunch establishment with both inside and outdoor seating. Pretty good cup of coffee. Delicious pancakes – with a nod to the banana walnut. They tend to get quite crowded in season. Be prepared for a fairly long wait if you have a large party(over 4). Once you’re seated, the service is friendly and efficient. While they offer salads, sandwiches and lunch options, their true strength is breakfast. They are kid friendly, complete with crayons on the table, and a smattering of simple games/toys for them to play with. Fresh fruit. Properly cooked eggs. A nice variety of breads for toast. It’s a BYO, but if you want a screwdriver or a Bloody Mary, there’s a liquor store right next door. If you live or are staying locally, this is one of the better breakfast/brunch locations in the area. Parking can be a bit of a problem, but in all honesty, this is a kind of place that’s nice to walk to, but may not be worth a drive in excess of 15 – 20 mins.

I had breakfast early one morning with my family. Since we were so early, there wasn’t a crowd and our food was served promptly. My fruit salad was fresh, and the«Garden State» omelette was delicious. However, I’m taking off a star because my father, who has Celiac’s disease, told the waitress he had a gluten intolerance and asked that his food would be allergen-free. He was assured this, yet he had a very bad allergic reaction after we left. All in all, I recommend Meg’s Grill for a good breakfast place, but don’t go if you’re gluten-intolerant.

I feel like one’s standards have to be adjusted a little at the shore. Everything is a little more laid back, the service isn’t really on point, and you’re not getting fancy cuisine. Still, if there was another breakfast spot this close, I would go there instead. It’s not that Meg’s is bad; it’s simply ok and nothing more. There’s obviously a wait on summer weekends but I feel that could be alleviated if they had small tables they could either use as is or push together for large parties. The fare is pretty standard– omelettes, pancakes, salads, sandwiches, although I had a really good banana Nutella French toast special once. But it’s the sum of little things that give the overall experience a negative tone. I am the most sympathetic towards working women(girl power!), and small business owners, but when your kid is screaming it kind of ruins my meal. There’s generally a lot of screaming kids here but I guess that can’t be avoided in a family shore town. Almost every time I’ve come they’ve missed a little something on an order, and sometimes it takes a few tries to get it right. I know its a busy place but little things make a huge difference. I plan on returning and hope to upgrade my review if things improve.
