This is the most disgusting food I have ever tried. I tried the beef empanadas and there was way too much going on. It had beef, onions, olives, raisins and hard boil egg. I also tried the humitas. I ordered my food to go. I come home to find out the humita I ordered is frozen solid hard. They could’ve warned me. After trying to defrost it and reheat it, it ended up looking disgusting and tasted disgusting. I also tried there pastel de choclo again way too much going on. Similar ingredients to the empanada. This is my first time trying Chileno food. What a disappointment.

This review is based on the phone call i made to Rincon Chileno this morning. I just wanted to get basic information on their Beef Empanadas. The lady on the phone was really nice, and i received a good warming experience over the phone. I am interested in placing a big order for New Yrs eve thanks to a co-worker that brought me an empanada to work and I liked it alot. I am excited about placing the order and will update my review after the experience. Thank you.

After I ate at the delicious restaurant next door I went right over and ordered 6 empanadas to go. I just tried one I put in my toaster over and it is delicious! Also I’m happy they had pisco I could buy from there it’s usually hard for me to find unless I go out of my way

As a Chilean, I was super excited to try this place because everyone said it was authentic. Short story, the food is nothing to rave about, the place is small and dirty(flies were in there and I’m frankly surprised it has passed inspections) and hot! Seriously, no ac and then fan was off. We ordered the churrasco combo and meat empanada and ham&cheese empanada. The bread on the sandwich tasted stale, the meat empanada had no flavor and lots of onions(the sign of someone trying to go cheap on their filling), the ham&cheese empanada was OK(but its just phyllo dough cheese so pretty hard to mess up and we weren’t wowed either!) But the most disappointing thing was the dessert. The alfajor had the worst dulce de leche we had ever tried! Everything had the same theme: tasteless, stale, almost as I’d everything had been sitting there for days. I’m extremely surprised this place has good reviews! I will NOT be returning and I would NOT recommend this place. Honestly, this restaurant gives Chilean food a bad name! With the amount of small good reviews this place has, I wouldn’t be surprised if all the owner’s friends are raving about it because I just can’t understand how anyone can call this food acceptable for any establishment, let alone authentic.

If you are looking to try some authentic Chilean food, this is the place to go. In fact, it’s the only place to go that I am aware of. Having lived in Chile for a few years many years ago, it certainly brings back all the great memories and seems exactly like it was when we lived there. Empanadas and other treats from Chile can be found here. The empanadas travel very well and are awesome to bring home and heat up. They also freeze really well. If you haven’t tried Chilean food before, check this place out.

I grew up going to the original Rincon Chileno restaurant on Melrose and I was so excited when they opened up this deli. Now I don’t have to drive so far to get great tasting empanadas. I recommend the spinach/cheese and chicken empanada.

What a pity, to save a few cents they ruined an otherwise great tasting steak sandwich. Home made Chilean bread is soft and crispy, a pleasure to eat with the steak, avocado and tomato. Unfortunately, stale bread(a couple of days old) is hard and chewy and this is what I got today. Buyer beware, make sure that bread and sweets are fresh since they do not bother to discard food that is a few days old

Pretty good empanadas– the parking lot was packed on a Sunday evening, although the shop itself was fairly empty. Maybe it’s because we caught some of the last of their stock of the day, but overall I was only okay on ‘em. Cheese and spinach were excellent, but the meat ones we had were not as memorable. Shop is a little tiny dive with a handful of tables, I suspect if you work in the area, this could be a very cute lunch place.

The steak sandwich was outstanding. The steak was incredibly tasty, the avocado was fresh, and the bread was amazingly fresh and soft. The chicken and beef empanadas were excellent as well. We liked the chicken ones the best.

Great food but horrible service. There is a girl who seems to be very unhappy to work there.

This place totally rocks. The servers are really friendly and very attentive. I usually get the warm spinach empanadas and trust me they never disappoint. They taste even more amazing with the green and red salas. They are off the beaten path and don’t get the recognition they deserve. This place makes me want to venture other Chilean delicacies.

They’ve got some pretty delicious Empanada’s here. If you are craving an Empanada, this is the place to go. They’re all very fresh and served toasty and hot. All the meat empanadas are pretty delicious and juicy. I feel like the chicken one is tastier than the beef but my friends disagree. Oh well. They have some yummy choices for drinks here as well. Some Mexican sodas and regular sodas, and those Jarritos thingies. They also serve burgers here but that’s not really their specialty so it isn’t going to be amazing. I did get a chicken burger here once with avocado, and unlike other restaurants, Rincon Chileno Deli knocked it out of the park by loading my cheese sandwich with TONS of avocado instead of skimping out like other places do. Major props for that. This place is definitely family run. Occasionally you’ll get someone who doesn’t speak English very well, but if you just point, they totally will understand you. There’s no need to yell English loudly at them because that seriously does nothing for you AND the employee. Everyone is super friendly as you walk in and will smile and greet you. The service is quick and polite. The only time it took a while is when a lady in front of me ordered like 50 spinach and cheese empanadas. That was crazy. Can’t wait to come back again when I’m feeling hungry. It’s very reasonably priced and two or three can fill you up easily.

Hundreds of reasons why I love this Deli but that’s personal the Empanada’s are amazing. Always love the Empanada De Espinaca w/queso. Amazing girls and super friendly. Ignore the reviews that talk about waiters as this is a Deli with no waiters. Real Chilean food from real Chilean’s.

Came here after stuffing my face at the peruvian restaurant(totally recommend). This location is small but very welcoming with a little of everything to choose from. The owner is a very nice lady who can recommend to you what to choose. My dad grew up in Chile so we new what to get. I recommend –pastel de choclo –empanadas –elado de lucuma –pastries

This is just a small Chilean Deli/bakery with 1 – 2 tables. It was my first time trying Chilean food! I ordered beef, chicken, spinach & cheese empanadas. The meat fillings were juicy but could use more flavor. The spinach and cheese is cheesy! – I like it! Though the crust here is on a thin side. I like my empanadas with a little more crisp and dough to it. I got to try two things for the first time: 1) Humita(Like a Corn Tamale). It was delicious! Not your typical Mexican tamale. This has no filling! It’s just a mixture of small bits of corn and onion. Very moist and slightly soft. 2) Pastel de Choclo. It reminds me of a sweeten shepherd’s pie but instead of potatoes it is topped with mashed corn. It has olivers, raisins, meat, onion, and bits of hard boiled egg. It is not bad but it’s just a little too sweet and rich for me. I actually prefer the Humita! I can’t wait to eat try more Chilean dishes from other places!

I found this place on Unilocal.I dropped by today after class to try the empanadas. I ordered a spinach and cheese and also a chicken empanada with green sauce. The empanadas were good but i was expecting more, i don’t know why. I liked them they were good, just not amazing i guess you can say. I think because it was my first time at a chileno restaurant that i was excited for it but it didn’t fulfill my expectation. The lady who helped me seemed like she woke up on the wrong side of the bed, it was a take it and leave expression on her face. Perhaps that is why, i didn’t feel her authenticity. Im all about customer service and smiles it really has an impact of the overall experience. Take pride serving your customers a little of your cultura . I want to feel the culture in my tastebuds :) I shaw’ll keep searching !

They wouldn’t serve me here for no reason. Came here to try their empanadas today. Arrived at 1:15PM and two workers were sitting at a table with big empty plates in front of them. I said«Hi», and got no response, so I looked over the empanadas on display. $ 2.95 for a chicken and $ 3.95 for a large beef. OK I’m ready, but there were no workers in the place behind the counter. The ones sitting out front were trying their best to ignore me. I asked them if they were taking lunch and one said Yes. So I stood there for a while longer then I left cause no one was interested in working at that place and I had to get back to work. This was not a good experience. Maybe they will treat you better, but then that would lead me to conclude there is discrimination occurring here, and I don’t have to time to deal with that. I won’t be coming back here.

Woot found a spot for legit Chilean Food! They’ve been around since 1973. Empanadas are huge compared to tiny Argentinian ones. Spinach and cheese empanadas are the tastiest. Yay! for veggies kicking the butt of the meat ones. The beef empanada had delightful bits of creamy caramelized onions, cooked eggs, raisins and olives mixed in with the beef, but it was the spinach and cheese empanadas that I couldn’t stop eating. Really flavorful seasoning of the greens. Cheese is ooozy and melty. Like a hot pocket on steroids. Shop feels intimate. Like you stepped into a little hidden Chilean world with regular customers coming in and out getting their home country fix. Most of the pastries feature dulce de leche. Try the one with squash(no dulce de leche). They also have humita’s which is a chilean tamale. It is very different from what we normally would consider a tamale. It’s pretty much flavorful corn mush wrapped in a banana leaf. Cute presentation and the taste is unique. The texture takes a bit getting used to. The salsa that accompanies it also have a very unique flavor. They are more tart and herbally than Mexican salsa. A great find for Chilean Food.
