i go here often enough to watch sports on the big screens. service in the bar area always good. Never had any issues with the food, its standard bar food, but good!

I love the pizzas here. I am from Chicago and believe I should know what deep dish pizza should taste like. Appetizers here are the best in town. They have an amazing spinach dip that is best in class. Service is hit and miss but food is worth the inconsistencies.

I get the pizza and it is great. Since it is Chicago style it is a very different type than anywhere else in Lawrence. Jeremy has always enjoyed his food too. They never seem to be busy and the service is great.

Ehhh its a pub /sports bar I had high hopes as I read a review about the Chicago style pizza. What I ate was a thin layer of crust with a small amount of cheese and a couple ladles of marinara and meat sauce on it. The bruschetta was just strange, too oily and used what appeared to be deep fried pita bread. The beers on tap were the usual suspects and the bar selection looked minimal. Got there early Friday for lunch and it never filled up past 30% capacity. Nice place good set up for sports but food and drink sub par

Pleasantly surprised by the great survive, the always improving food menu, and $ 5 wine Tuesday’s…ok really the wine was the kicker.

Why isn’t this place busier on a Saturday night? It’s clean, great atmosphere, exceptional service, and the food was awesome. We had chips and salsa with guacamole then a build your own pizza. Our server, Madeline, was great. She interacted with us just enough, made great recommendations, and was just really attentive the whole time. The food was all great — clearly all made in house. Their salsa tasted just like my homemade salsa(not as hot… But i like VERY spicy food). The pizza took almost 30 minutes, but they set that expectation that pizzas take a little more time right in the menu. We were completely ok with the wait; however, Madeline still apologized for it. The local beer was great! And they had great prices. We may have found our new go-to place in Lawrence!

I have been there four times with different groups. Service is always painfully slow. Some of the worst I have experienced. Seems to be lacking good management. However, sports bar food is above average… when it finally arrives. Ultimately not worth the long wait times, average prices and total lack of attention by servers.

Basically, a loyally owned Applebee’s. Very kid friendly and the waitress was eager to please. Not bad, not great, but caters well to the chicken-fingers and burgers crowd. Only big thing was that the beer list was hand written on a slip of paper. I’m sure they’ll fix this, but kinda weird for a bar and grill.

I kept hearing how amazing the deep dish pizza was, so we gave it a shot. Should have left when the table next to us stood up to leave, refused a $ 50 gift card and said they wouldn’t be returning due to their dining experience. It took our waitress awhile to even get us water, and I initially felt bad for her as she seemed to be covering a large area that was busy, by herself. Slowly my pity turned to annoyance as I saw literally 6 waitresses gathered around a table near the bar, talking and laughing with a manager for over 5 minutes while multiple tables around us waited for their drinks or bill. In case I was completely unable to read body language, it was confirmed that more and more people we’re getting upset as we could actually hear the complaints of others around me because of how frustrated they were. I ordered a beer that evidently had run out on tap. Instead of letting me know and having me decide what I wanted, the waitress brought me a different beer and said«I hope you like it!». And no, that was not a complimentary beer. And in fact I did not like it, because it was a stout and I ordered a wheat. In her defense, I guess, they were from the same brewery. But to get my waitress back to our table was near impossible considering the super important meeting the waitstaff still appeared to be having by the bar. And by super important meeting I mean gossiping and joking. We ordered chicken nachos as an appetizer to split and also split a deep dish. The nachos came out pretty late, and we hardly had a chance to eat them. Which is kind of tough to do seeing as a deep dish pizza usually takes up to 45 minutes to bake. Our pizza arrived and we each had a slice we barely finished. Not because it was so rich and filling, but because it just wasn’t good. The way others talked, I had visions of Giordanos or Lou Malnitis, but this is not even in the same league. When we asked for our check, our waitress started laughing and said«Want to hear something funny? That pizza was like, 4 lbs! You guys did a good job. And all those nachos? I could never eat that much food! Wow!» we waited for the funny part to come but it didn’t. Even if we had actually eaten a lot of food, I think most people wouldn’t care to hear their 21 year old thin as a stick waitress laugh about how much they’ve eaten that night. Needless to say, we will not be returning and I almost feel this review is a moot point as I can’t imagine how this place can stay in business very long.

I’ve given it three tries and it’s been worse each time. The food was everything from cold to just plain gross. The wait staff was so terrible I had to go to the bar to get our check. I’m can’t come up with one positive thing about the place.

A local sports bar that offers a few unique food options you will not find elsewhere in a typical Lawrence sports bar. Namely the Salmon which is served atop a bed of snow peas and bok choy, then a light citrus sauce is drizzled atop. A refreshing, upbeat dish that will no doubt surprise anyone with its flavor, freshness and the fact that something of this caliber is being served at a sports bar. Also unique to the area is a true Chicago style deep dish pizza, having lived in the Chicago area for a period I can say that while it doesn’t meet the standard which you will find in the Windy City, it comes close. The other food I have tried has all been typical bar fare: burgers(of these the avocado gruyère is the best), spinach dip, nachos and even the shrimp dip. With these expect what you would find at any other sports bar. Good food, but unremarkable as the real reason you probably came in was to watch the game anyhow. The staff was polite, and the atmosphere highlights local and KU sports legacy, plenty of TV’s, and a good selection of beer on tap. Prices are reasonable.

We went there for NYE, and it was great. Food was awesome, service awesome, live music, warm, intimate atmosphere. Kudos to Matt and his team for the best New Years event in town. P. S. Try the Pizza — you won’t be sorry!

My hubby got a gewy llewy burger with Cajun fries. He really enjoyed it. I got a side salad with roasted garlic ranch dressing. The dressing was super garlicky and super good. Loved it! I also got carnivore deep dish pizza. Although I could only eat one slice because I was full, it was excellent. We are already planning on coming back when family visits over Christmas. One more positive: our server Madison was great. Very attentive, checked in on our meals once we had eaten a few bites, was quick to give drink refills. Very polite and friendly.

Okay, ambiance, noise, yes it’s a sports bar… BUT this is the only place in town I know of that serves deep dish pizza, and it is FANTASTIC. The chunky marinara, the fresh veggies, the melted moz, the sausage spiced just right, and the crust was perfect, though I know from experience that is easier said than done. Seriously, a lot of places in Chicago don’t do deep dish this well. This is right up there with Giordano’s, and that’s saying a lot. I don’t know if I’ll ever try anything else on the menu(I hear all the food is good) or if I just won’t be able to pass up that glorious pizza.

Can’t wait to go back to Legends in west Lawrence. The wings were scrumptious — glistening, burnished copper, tender and juicy. Great guacamole. Creamy hummus with the perfect olive tapenade counterpoint. And the hummus came with beautiful crudités and an endless basket of grilled bruschetta. I tried a wine flight — great decision and a great value. My husband tried a couple of the many beers on tap and loved tasting some local favorites. Great spot for terrific food and fun atmosphere.

We stopped at Legends on the way home after an afternoon in Lawrence. Not knowing what we would find, we discovered a great sports bar with good hamburgers and fries. The restaurant has a large menu which included salmon shrimp and trout, a variety of burgers and sandwiches, appetizers and desserts. We settled on a Gruyère Avocado Burger and a Gewy Lewy mushroom swiss burger. Both burgers were home made burger patties topped with an egg-washed bun that had been lightly grilled. It probably isn’t usual to describe the bun, but it was very tasty. My Gruyère Avocado Burger was delicious. I asked for lettuce and tomato to be added to the red onions. The burgers were served with seasoned steak fries. You can choose the seasoning for the fries from salt & vinegar, lemon pepper, Cajun or Jamaica Jerk seasoning. We had the Cajun fries and the Jamaica Jerk fries, both nicely, but not heavily seasoned. Arriving about 2:30pm, there was hardly anyone else in the restaurant. Our waiter, Bryan was very attentive. The restaurant offers 24 beers on tap plus local beers including 23 Street Brewery and Free State Brewery, plus a selection of wines and mixed drinks. There are lots of big screen TVs and games around he restaurant. We commented on the music playing because we enjoyed it. We learned that they were considering different types of music and we happened to be there while they were playing 80’s easy listening and rock. There are a few booths and lots of tables, plus you can order food at the long bar. I am not a big fan of sports bars, but I really enjoyed my afternoon at Legends. Highly recommend it for good burgers and fries. I’ll bet it will be a big hit during football and basketball season.

Dinner with friends on a Thursday night. Our server Spencer was great and took good care of us during an evening of conversation and laughs. My friends spilt the 4lbs. cheese pizza and I had the avocado burger with fries. We had onion rings as an appetizer. Friends liked the pizza but said they would prefer to add toppings next time to the pizza. I had a bite and the sauce was really good and spicy and the crust cooked through and typical of a deep dish. My burger was ok but needed a bit more taste. It apparently had a chile sauce but I asked for mustard because I couldn’t taste any seasoning. Fries were good but could have been cooked a bit longer. No one likes a little limp in their fry! Great beer menu which includes choices from local breweries including Free State. Owner stopped by the table to say hello and ask if everything was ok. All heads nodded but real assessments were not shared as it is a little hard to tell an owner the truth during a night out with the girls. I however love that he did stop by and say hello. Nice touch. The place will be awesome during basketball season.

We dropped in, unannounced, with a group of seventeen for an impromptu birthday celebration. The servers were friendly and helpful. They quickly brought snack plates filled with cheeses, crackers, and grapes for each of the eight children in attendance without us requesting them. This created an excellent first impression, as it kept the hungry kids busy while our order was prepared. We ordered the Chicago style pizza. While it was not as good as Lou Malnattis or Giordanos, it was the best Chicago style deep dish pizza that I have tasted in the area. I enjoyed my pizza and the servers were very attentive and took care of all of our requests quickly and pleasantly. I will definitely return and bring the family.

Finally a restaurant suitable to this outstanding location has opened. The previous restaurant, Bambino’s, was not a good choice for this location in west Lawrence. The new Legends sports bar, run by the same people who operate the successful 23rd St. Brewery, has gotten it right. They have only been open for about a week at this location, but clearly are a big success. We were there this evening, and the restaurant was full. The large TVs on all walls are perfect for a sports bar, and the menu is diverse and excellent for the location. The seafood comes in three times a week: Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. In Lawrence, seafood is not always what it should be and can rapidly harm the reputation of a restaurant. But with fresh salmon and frozen trout and shrimp coming in three times a week, this restaurant has what it takes. The vegetables are very fresh and probably acquired from local sources. In short, quality is high. We got a bottle of Underwood Pinot Noir at $ 22 for the bottle. The price is right. Also the service is excellent, with many servers. There is a game room for children, but I didn’t see it in use. It’s in back where you might not notice it.
