Service is a bit slow as others have mentioned but, there is a reason for that. This is not fast food! Good food takes a few minutes. The meats, plantains, beans, rice, yucca were all cooked to perfection. Even my kids chicken tenders and fries were good. Price was very reasonable and the waitresses are pretty and nice. I’ll be back.

I have been here twice. Both times I have been impressed. My wife loves the fried fish and I enjoy the carne asade steak. I will upload pics shortly. The other reviews are correct — the staff is not much on speaking English but they make the effort. Our waitress last night was Angelica. She was very friendly. The inside is clean and welcoming. Last night we had the pleasure of meeting a fellow patron who took the time to explain all the different dishes and provided her recommendations. We get pastries /bakery items each time. Keep in mind that not all bakery items are made in-house so be sure to ask if you are looking for something home cooked. Unfortunately, their location is nestled in a shopping mall not completely visible from the road. Take the time to find this place. You will not be disappointed. A tip for the restaurant: There is nothing bad with your service but I do recommend you go out of the way to make your patrons feel special, especially your non-Columbian ones. It will go a long way.

The good here is DELISIOSO!!! The people working there are sweet and very helpful! They speak very little English, but who cares! Between my «Spanglish“and their broken English we did just fine! I like them!!! The barena trigos, wooo!!! This is a great place for authentic Columbian food, with a homey atmosphere!!! Well done!!!

I met a friend of mine that was familiar with this place. It is very easy to miss because it is the end unit of a nearly empty strip center. They have daily lunch specials for $ 6.99 and the portions were quite large. Ihad the soup to start out with rice, fried plantains and minced meat as the entrée. The food was really good. Luckily, my friend spoke the language and it would have been extremely difficult to comminucate if he were not present. Also, the service was pretty bad, which didn’t really surprise me walking in. It was a cheap and good lunch, but there are some obstacles such as the location, service and language barrier that will most likely keep me from coming back.

A couple of up-front realities about this place. One, if you don’t speak spanish, you’re going to have a tough time interacting on a more detailed level. If this bothers you, you are in luck. Go to Papi’s or the Chipotle nearby to get your Spanish food fix. Two, if you are the type of diner who wants to be checked on every 5 minutes or you don’t have a few extra minutes to wait while they literally cook your food from scratch, again, there are plenty of options in the area that are more efficient. If those things are deal breakers for you, you’re going to miss out on some really nice food. The portions are pretty enormous for the price or otherwise. My stepmother is Columbian. I’d rather eat this food :). All I ever get is the grilled chicken breasts or carne asada. Both come with rice, a small salad, and essentially an entire ripe plantain. I generally try to get here once a month for the past few years and I’ve never been disappointed. Trigos is essentially a bakery that serves food. This isn’t the finest dining and the customer service is nothing remarkable. You get your drinks in a can. The silverware is cheap. However, if those things don’t bother you, the people are nice and the food legit.

Relaxed atmosphere, the food is delicious and the portions are huge. The owner and his wife are delightful and very eager to help you choose the right menu item for your tastes. The steak was grilled to perfection and the fried pork belly is something special.

Can’t say I’ve visited a Colombian restaurant so can’t really compare it to others of that category, but I will speak to the normal restaurant items. The place was decorated with art and other items in a Colombian theme. There was plenty of seating but the place was not empty. Visited for lunch and decided to go with the lunch special which for Thursday was meat choice(chicken or minced meat), rice, soup, salad, and fried plantains. The soup had plenty of vegetables and was a large bowl of it… nearly a meal in itself. I added the provided hot sauce to the soup and the minced meat. Everything was flavorful and for the price made a great lunch. Finished things off with a large coffee which was not great but not bad. I’ll definitely return and try some other good food.

My first trip was last month on a sunday, and had brunch with family & friends, the food is, and was GREAT! They give you plenty of food, and I wobbled out with a full belly! I had chicken soup and they give you a plate of rice, chicken & other sides MMMM! The only thing that could be improved is the coffee, well for my taste, I like café con leche strong cuban style, but this is a colombian restaurant maybe they dont serve it very strong, but I didnt go there for the coffee, I went for the food, and it was… QUERICO!!!

True enough, I was heading to Chipotle for lunch, which you can see pretty easily from the street, but on a whim, I decided to give Trigos a try, because in the strip mall full of, well, nothing, their lot was full! Customer service is a big deal to me, so I was really happy that when I walked in, I was greeted, shown a menu(to go order) and pointed right to their Friday special, among other tasty dishes with full explanation of what things were. Friday’s deal was the Sancocho soup(cilantro based soup with potato and plantain chunks), potato salad, grilled steak, rice and maduras all for 7 bucks! I added on a side order of tostones($ 2.50), but still keeping my total under $ 10…kinda insane when you see the amount of food. Service was pretty quick, and I really don’t think I waited 10 minutes from order to getting my food… maybe because I lost track of time checking out the display of desserts, breads, empanadas and other snacks they make fresh daily. I’m not a huge fan of cilantro, but I really enjoyed the soup(which wasn’t overpowered by the cilantro… but can also fill you up by itself). I ended up splitting my food up over lunch and dinner, which wasn’t very hard to do at all If you’re looking for Cuban coffee, like I was, well, it’s a Colombian restaurant. Their coffee isn’t as strong, and is more like a typical cup you’d find anywhere. There’s plenty of space in the deceptively small restaurant, with multiple tables, and like I said earlier, the parking situation is pretty good, considering there aren’t many stores around. Customer service is definitely top notch, and if for no other reason than to get the daily special to get a ton of food on the cheap, it’s worth a visit.

One of my friends who I created into a Unilocaler-monster from Marietta came all the way to Lawrenceville for the Grand Opening of Twisted Doughnuts & Café. While in the area, we wanted to have a Unilocal adventure and try something new. He is Ecuadorian and we don’t have Ecuadorian food, but I knew his face would light up at the mention of a Columbian place. After naming several other places, he was set on Columbian so he, I, and my cousin ended up at Trigos! Looking at the short menu, I could tell they probably feature their«Trigos Columbian» dish with the rib meat, cornbread?, plantain, chorizo sausage, carne asada(beef), egg, avocado, rice, and black beans. My cousin and I shared and the serving size is HUGE! I would highly recommend sharing it with two(maybe even 3) people. I liked most of it, but my favorite part was the carne asada and chorizo sausage. I think if that’s all the meal came with I would be happy. The plantain and cornbread stuff tasted a little overcooked. The service was good and luckily we had my Ecuadorian friend speak Spanish for us, because there was definitely a language barrier lol. Traditional Columbian food is known to have lots of plantains, rice, corn, soups, empanadas, and«Bandeja paisa» which translates to platter from the region of Paisa. The dish that we got, the trigos Columbian, seems to be a variation of that traditional dish. I was looking at their menu and apparently they have really good $ 7 lunch specials so I’d be interested to try this place again on a random weekday at lunch time. Trigos Columbian stands out pretty well in an empty parking lot. It’s right behind the Chipotle off Duluth Hwy and technically in the same plaza as Starbucks and Hooters, just on the other side closer to the Gold’s Gym. Interestingly this little corner is like Little Latin America since they have Pollo Tropical reminiscent of the latin food in Miami, Papi’s which is Cuban food, and this place all in a sort of triangle geographically.

Came here with my friends for lunch. The place looked decent, I did love all the hand made crafts they had hanging around. As for the food we got the Bandeja Trigos(traditional name is Paisa) and it was just ok, it was not bad but I’ve definitely had way better in the past. The steak, chorizo and costilla were good, the rice and beans were meh, nothing special. I had high expectations for this dish but I was just disappointed, I felt like something was missing but I can’t put my finger quite on it. The service was ok kinda slow, don’t think I would recommend this place, my friends seemed like they didn’t enjoy it either.

A friend of mine recommended this place because of their lunch specials. Every day they have different meals for $ 6.99. I had the thurs special which consisted of vegetable soup/rice/salad and then your choice of chicken sauté or minced meat. Unfortunately they ran out of meat but they replaced it with steak no extra charge. The soup came out in a huge bowl that looked like a meal in itself. The rice was very good almost like the had cooked it with a stick of butter. The salad was nothing special and as for my steak, well it was pretty bland. My girlfriend ordered the same special but with the chicken and the chicken was incredible. The sauce on the chicken was great and the chicken was tender and moist. Overall for the price of the meal I can’t complain. But of you’re in the area and want a huge meal for a cheap price on a thurs. Stop on by.

A Guatemalan friend told us about this place. It’s unfortunately not visible from the street, tucked in a building behind a Chipotle. We didn’t see any non-Hispanic Americans eating here during our lunch so it seems to still be a hidden secret. They have a killer daily lunch special for $ 6.99 that could feed a horse. The portion size is huge. I went on a Thursday and got the daily special which consisted of salad, vegetable soup, rice, fried plantains and choice of chicken or minced meat. I went with the chicken and the boy wanted the minced meat but they were out so they let him substitute it for steak at no additional charge! The vegetable soup was DELICIOUS and HUGE. It easily could have been an entrée. Tasted like the best darn chicken noodle soup minus any chicken, yet you didn’t miss it at all. Perfect combination of flavors with squash, potatoes, carrots, corn and peas. The salad was standard ice berg mix. No salad dressing was offered. Rice was very flavorful and seemed to have been enhanced with butter. Now, the absolute best part was the chicken. Holy moly the sauce was phenomenal and the chicken was so tender. I easily ate the entire chicken thigh with a fork. Unfortunately, the boy’s steak was not as satisfying. It was a dry, flavorless unknown slice of meat. I easily won the entrée war! The atmosphere was very cozy and bright. They decorated it with random Columbian nick knacks. They are also part bakery so an assortment of baked goods were available. I was so tempted to get a slice of Quatro Leche cake but had to stop myself. The gluttony was for real. Service was quick and to the point. She came back and checked on us once and was very nice. Language was a little bit of a barrier but nothing some pointing and hand gestures couldn’t fix. Overall, I’ll definitely come back to check out more of the daily specials and try some of their breakfast entrees that sounded delicious(served all day!).

Went here today for lunch. Service was weird. It being my first time here, I was expecting to be seated like any other dine in non-fast food restaurant. Nope that did not happen. So i went to the counter and was just stared at by the group of waitresses behind the counter who were chatting and laughing until I went up to them. One of them spoke broken english and from what I interpreted was«Yea what do you want»? Rude I’d say. I asked for the menu and thats when one of the other girls pointed to a table and said«Sit to eat». Ummm, ok? Anyway so I ordered the Bandeja Paisa. It was ok kind of bland. Could have used some sauce on the side because the steak was dry. Needs more flavor and spices for the taste. From the meal, I did enjoy the crunchy pork belly and the fried egg at least. And to drink I got the hot chocolate which tasted very bland and poorly made, could have used more chocolate and sugar or sweetened condensed milk would have even been better. I don’t know, maybe I’ll give this place another try. I want to see what other dishes they have to offer. I hope they are not all bland.

Horrible experience with service. I decided to take my family out to this restaurant based on reviews. We placed our orders and noticed that others customers received there food and were done by the time our meals arrived. All meals arrived except mine. 10 min later while my family is eating the waitress comes over and says oh we forgot your order. I advised her to cancel my order and please give me my balance. She apologized and said that they had given my meal to another table. I advised her that it was my 1st and last time at this restaurant

This place is yum! Since moving away from one of my favorite lunch spots(Patacon Pisao in Norcross) I was very excited to try this place. Me and the hubby went in about noon to a full restaurant. Service was good, but it does help to know some Spanish. Hubby is Cuban so he helped me out with that :) Food was delish! Huge portions. We both ordered the bandeja platter. So yummy. Plantains were perfect, which is my favorite item, so its gotta be good! The steak was seasoned perfectly too. This place is definitely worth a try if you live in the area. Will be back soon for sure!
