A blue collar buffet. Mostly fat guys in baseball caps. Which is o. k with me ’cause I’m a fat guy who wears baseball caps. Some elderly folks(also wearing baseball caps) and a family or two with usually noisy kids in tow. Also o. k ’cause I was pretty noisy as a kid myself. Not a bad place for a working guy to catch lunch. But the place is definitely not fancy and usually pretty messy. My wife won’t go into the place, so I’m usually flying solo. So, if your a guy who ain’t fancy and you don’t have to bring the little woman along this place is o.k. But if it’s ambiance your looking for keeeep drivin’.

Like totally omg! So I love the Hartz by my house, but this specific location is better. I don’t know what the other reviewers are talking about. You can’t really have that high of expectations for fried chicken. It’s fried chicken! C’mon. I agree it could be cleaner, but I’m not here to give a health inspection, I’m just giving my opinion on the chicken and sides, which hit the spot when I was craving fried chicken. Definitely worth eating here!

Today, I wanted chicken. Ive been to other Hartz before in other towns and never had a bad experience. This is the closest chicken place to my home as well. This is my first time at this location. I went through the drive-thru. #1 the order box kept cutting in and out. #2 it took quite a bit of time for me to get my food, so I assumed it would be fresh. Safe assumption right?! #3 I finally get my food about 10 – 15 minutes later, drive home and sit down to enjoy my meal… or so I thought. I take a sip of my sweet tea, thinking it would be oh so refreshing. Was I wrong. It was sour. We are in the south people. And you are a chicken place. How do you have horrible sweet tea??? #4 my chicken wasn’t even hot and it looked like it had just been sitting there all day, which would not surprise me. #5 the yeast rolls which I was hoping would be the saving grace of this meal since I mean, come on they are yeast rolls. They should be soft and sweet and just oh so yummy. Not these! They were hard as a rock. I even tried to warm them up in the microwave thinking that might save them. No joy! So, that about sums up my crappy experience. Will I be going back, I will. Only because I will give any place at least two chances just in case I just happened to be a day that they were off their game.

I also agree with all of the reviews here. It was dirty. The food was gross and the service was horrible.

I agree with every review on here. The place was very dirty, the chicken was very bland. The buffet was pricey considering how bad the food was. I will not be back!

Can I give less than a star? Hartz, you’d better feel lucky that I can’t! My sister and I with her two very young children came in here today hoping to be in and out and full within 15 minutes as the kids were already fussing it up in the car. Let me begin with the cleanliness of this place. Not only was the floor COVERED in trash, chicken pieces and some sort of liquid, but our table was sticky. The bathrooms are almost unusable. I walked in and almost lost my lunch at how DIRTY this place was! It stunk to high heaven, had NO toilet paper and… wait for the shocker… was out of hand-soap!(Which makes you wonder what the cooks were using to wash their hands). The tables and chairs were so close together that we literally had to squeeze in and out every-time we got up to get a refill of our soda. The food was less than appetizing. Very old chicken pieces, canned fruit cocktail and banana pudding, brown coleslaw and green beans that came out of a freezer bag! The absolute worst part is that three-four hours later, my sister and I are sick to the bone with what we believe to be food-poisoning. I absolutely would NOT recommend! This place needs a good cleaning and maybe even a shutdown.

This place has lingered at the edge of my awareness for a long time. This afternoon I’d missed half of lunch and was cruising through League City. I didn’t want a whole meal, just a little meat. This seemed a likely place. It’s a chicken joint. They sell it by the piece, or as a meal, or there’s an AYCE buffet for under $ 9. Service is on plain white styrofoam. The ceiling panels are slightly stained; several of the diffuser panels are missing from the banks of fluorescents. The decoration is heavily weighted towards plastic plants with large plastic flowers. Everything looks garish. Most of the other customers were elderly, though there were a few young families. I got one baked chicken thigh for $ 1.19, a fair price. The counter service was friendly; the guy grabbed my piece off the buffet line. The thigh was OK. Not too greasy, but greasy enough. Not a lot of meat but fair for what I paid. It was probably better before it went on the buffet line. No special seasoning, no marinade, no interesting sauce to put on it. I did appreciate that the place was mostly quiet — no piped in music. A fryer alarm went off and beeped for about 80 sec; it wasn’t very loud in the dining area, but, well, it’s an alarm and alarms are MADE to be … alarming. The men’s room was dim, sadly repaired, a large toilet tank lid perched awkwardly, not even vaguely fitting the tank. Hartz Chicken Buffet is a chain. The company webpage says«With over 50 locations in Texas, Malaysia and Indonesia,» which is an unusual franchising model. Cheap food, plenty of it, a reasonable destination if you’re low on cash and hungry. But I wouldn’t take a date here. :-)
