Bogeys is a neighborhood spot. Family friendly and a casual atmosphere. I can’t think of anything super remarkable about it. The fair is typical American bar food I.e. Hamburgers, fish & chips, and buffalo wings. The crowd can be quite old sometimes which isn’t surprising since it’s pretty close to an aging neighborhood and has earned it the nickname Fogey’s. Don’t get me wrong the place isn’t bad. The staff is friendly, food is consistent and there is nothing wrong with Bogey’s, it’s just not somewhere I’m excited to go.

Bogey’s is a great family-friendly establishment that we’ve frequented for years and our now there at least once a week for dinner. My favorite special is Saturday night’s Boiled Shrimp with Red Potatoes and Corn on the Cob. Every other night we usually order the catfish, fried shrimp or KC Strip with either french fries or a baked potato with green beans prepared just«like mama’s» with butter and bacon. Martinis are inexpensive and never disappoint.

Bogey’s motto: The bartenders will never say no and you can get your shots to go! I went here on a whim and will not be returning. I came in at 6PM on a Tuesday for a burger and beer. Within 10 minutes of sitting down I was bombarded with the drama of 3 drunk Baby Boomer regulars sitting next to me — a married couple and a very wasted man who kept tripping while standing/sitting at the bar. The wife was trying to get her husband to leave while the drunkard kept ordering double Jamison shots for the husband and the bartender gladly obliged despite the loud protests from the wife. The husband and other man ordered a round of double-shots«for the road.» The wife walked to the kitchen, came back with a to-go cup, poured the shot into the cup on the bar in front of the bartender, and left but not after complaining about a cop parked next to their car and talking about going to jail for drunk driving. The young female bartender didn’t stop serving shots to the wasted guy even though he couldn’t stand up and kept falling out of his chair. He’d ask for another round and she’d cheerfully give in. He grabbed food off of my plate and even though I demanded he pay for my meal the bartender just shrugged and laughed. He kept rubbing my shoulders and arm even though I firmly told him to stop. Not once did she intervene — she only would laugh and roll her eyes. When I left I dashed out as to avoid the drunkard from following me. Bottom line: Bogey’s bartenders are neglectful and irresponsible. Jon Taffer’s heart would explode.

I ordered the Wednesday lunch special pork tenderloin sandwich with choice of one side($ 6.99) and a drink($ 2.25). My order was delivered to my table in four minutes. The serving size was generous, but the sandwich and fries were just okay. The service was good, the interior was clean, the crowd was older(65+), and TVs and 50’s music were playing.

They are an ok neighborhood bar. The best thing is they are close and relatively cheap. I’ve tried all the menu and the only thing above average is the burger. Lots of old regulars but no big deal. Everyone is welcome.

Typical dive bar. Reasonably priced, and the people were nice. I’ll be back.

We recently used the private room for a youth sports meeting and it was great. Service, food and event space were all outstanding.

You can actually carry on a conversation there. The menu is better than average bar food and the specials are a good deal. I like the port tenderloin sandwich.

On Thursday nights — they have the burger special. The burgers are great the service can get a little slow. Need to be a little patient.

Bogey’s has the best fries in the city! Go to Bogey’s for a relaxing post golf meal if you’re out South in Johnson County. Newly renovated and expanded this bar has a plethora TV’s for viewing your favorite show or sporting event. If you go, make sure to enjoy the local flavor and friendly wait staff, but don’t miss out on the real treasure– the mode-made French fries. Fresh cut and fried these little slices of potato heaven are worth the trip alone.
