Wow! I am fairly picky when it comes to Italian food… But this place is incredible! We had an amazing meal, the service was great, and the price was totally reasonable. We had Allison as our server and she was fun and knew the menu like the back of her hand. And the lobster tortellini was so amazing! We will be back, and thank you Allison!!!

Nothing bad to say about the food. It was awesome. Very, very disappointing service. I called ahead for reservations and they called two days in a row to verify that we would keep our time. I explained it was our 29th wedding anniversary, we would bring our own wine to cork and the explained the fee. That was all agreeable .So what happened. NOTHING!!! The first thing the waiter said when he met us was the corking fee. No acknowledgement of anniversary. Nothing! Not very many people make it this long. Other restaurants in town always do something small for a very special occasion. The regulars the sat at the tables around you got more conjecture. Not a place to celebrate anything that is worth to mention.

I’ve never been treated so rudely in my entire life. Made reservations, once we arrived the hostess asked if we had reservations, we said yes. She never asked us what name it was under. We were seated and the waiter, after a long wait came over and asked us, smugly, which one of us knew Bob so-and-so. We were all confused. Then he tells us it’s some bob guys table, not ours. Accusing us of trying to take someone else’s reservation! He was so rude!!! We had reservations too! It’s not our fault your hostess is incompetent! None of us have EVER been talked to like that. Like we did something wrong. The manager was aware of the situation and no help to us, just rude like our waiter. Maybe your wait staff should ask people’s names before seating them. Nothing better then sitting there for 30 minutes with a hungry toddler, being ignored, treated like trash, and then asked to switch tables! Worst experience I’ve ever had at a restaurant! This is a strip mall Italian restaurant, you can get better service at Olive Garden! Haha! Hope Bob enjoyed his crappy table right next to the swinging kitchen doors.

Got the window which pretty much changed my view of the whole evening. I started at another table(bench seats in middle of room) and it felt a little too public and a little«close». Food was good /Appetizer — great. Service was fine — maybe not quite as good as they will be someday.

My wife and I had a groupon for Mio and went for a Saturday dinner sans the kiddos. The restaurant is tucked away in an under-developed strip mall that I had honestly never seen before. When you walk in Mio it feels classy but not in an overdone kind of way. Our service was very very good, excellent even, with our waiter being very knowledgeable and friendly. I found out that I enjoy Italina beer, who knew?! From the apps to the bread to the entrees, the food was fantastic and presented very well. Mio quickly became one of our favorites in south OP.

First, a 4 for an Italian restaurant is a 5 at any other location. I have issue with restaurant prices for pasta. Don’t know what is normal, but it was busy during restaurant week. We sat at the bar so we wouldn’t have to wait for a table. Best call ever. Our bartender was attentive, friendly. Never had an empty glass. Fyi, I was just drinking water, but the same went no matter what you were drinking. The atmosphere was nice, the food was impressive. Salad had fresh ingredients and good flavor. Linguine alla pescatore sadly did not wow me. There was nothing wrong with it by any means, each of the individual ingredients were prepared correctly and I did enjoy it. Just didn’t match the rest of the evening. Looking forward to my next visit. Kinda bummed I haven’t yet. The restaurant isn’t large and perhaps that is a good thing if they get to focus on the customers they have. Hope the service level stays the same as it made the difference. Service 6 stars Food 4 stars Price/Italian 3 stars Atmoshphere 4 stars

I love this place. Feels like a restaurant right out of Italy. Food is uniformly delicious. I ate here on Valentines Day 2015. The lentil soup and the rigatoni with meat sauce were delicious. The Lemoncello tiramisu was a little too wet but still tasted good. I love it that the owner walks around checking on you. Highly recommend.

We were given a gift card for here from a client along with a carry out menu. Well the hours of operation were incorrect. They do not serve lunch! The pizza side does, but the menu was for the restaurant side with lunch prices and all. To keep the negative rolling when I go to pick up our pizzas at the specified time they gave me they hadn’t even been made yet. The food may be good but the service is horrible. I will not be back. I spent years in the food service industry and this place truly let me down.

Awesome experience, start to finish! Great service and delicious food. I rarely venture to the ‘burbs, but I’ll do it willingly for Mio’s!

Been on my list to try and got a GROUPON(I love it when that happens). Went with the whole family for my daughter’s 14th birthday. It was really great food. Service was pretty slow and that place is TINY but the food was delicious. Husband had a steak, daughter #1 had the salmon, daughter #2 had the raviolli and I had saltimbocca. It was all really, REALLY good.

Not gonna lie, I almost don’t want to write this only because I don’t want to fight to get a table(selfish, I know). However, this is one of my favorite Italian restaurants in KC. We had a groupon for 4 and went with my in-laws. Our server was fantastic. There’s a fine line between over-sharing and coming by too much and being non-existent and he was awesome. The food, my-oh-my the food… the lasagna was one of the best I’ve ever had. We split a bottle of wine that was suggested by the waiter and it went perfectly with our meal. This is now on the list of best restaurants in KC for me!

We stopped here for dinner after golf with friends on a Sunday evening. We felt like our server did not do the menu justice. He was hesitant to answer any of our questions and when he did give an answer he lacked confidence in what he said. We gave him the benefit of the doubt, and assumed he was new. I liked the garbanzo bean hummus with red pepper coulis that was part of the trio on the appetizer menu. They had a nice happy hour with half price deals on drinks and appetizers. Everyone agreed the pizza was excellent!

Went to Mio last night for dinner, which started on a high note, but sadly did not continue to exceed or even meet our expectations. Upon arriving we were promptly seated by the hostess then greeted with water by the bartender. Our server approached not long after and briefly went over the wine menu. After checking back to collect our drink orders, the service rapidly declined. Our server r was very off-putting and rude when taking our orders. We didn’t see much of our server after that point as the owner of the restaurant delivered our food. The pasta was good, as well as the Lentil Bean soup; however, the Caesar salad was lacking flavor and very bland. Overall, the meal wasn’t bad. Our server brought our check and when we stated we had a Groupon, he immediately snapped that we only spent $ 40, which isn’t enough to use a Groupon. We asked to order dessert as well as two coffees. He immediately grabbed our ticket and seemed perturbed as if we were pestering him. Had our server been more polite, we could have written-off our poor evening and overlooked a few things. However, when our server collected our credit card and brought back the ticket, he didn’t say thank you or anything, other than placing the tab on the table and walking away. Given there are so many places in KC with exceptional service and exquisite food, we were taken aback by a new restaurant offering such rude service. The point of a Groupon is to entice new customers, not deter them by making them feel inferior.

It’s great to be turned away at the door 1.25hrs before close. The restaurant operating hours on the website and on the restaurant door says they are open until 10pm during the week. This apparently isn’t the case because we arrived at 8:45pm and were turned away. A server told us the kitchen closes at 9pm so they are closed for dinner but if we would like to have a drink at the bar or go down to the Mio Pizzeria to eat, we are welcome to do so. I even said«oh, doesn’t it say you’re open until 10?» and pointed to the door sign. He said, yes, but said their kitchen closes at 9 during the week. Very disappointing we got turned away at the door 1.25 hours before they are listed to close. To the owners: I was excited to eat at Mio for the first time last night, but after being turned away 1.25hrs before«close» I can say that we will be eating elsewhere and won’t be coming back. You may want to consider changing your operating hours on your website to close at 8:45 pm if that’s when you will be turning customers away during the week.

The BF bought a Groupon here without realizing just how far South this place is… so after my appointment down that way, we hit up Mio for dinner. Service was fantastic and the food was delicious. We bought a yummy bottle of wine($ 35) to go with my lasagna and the BF’s spicy shrimp dishes. Before the main dishes, we got the risotto balls and they were quite yummy also. I have NO complaints about the food. Fresh, Hot and tasted wonderful! Not gonna lie— the lasagna was one of the best that I’ve ever had at a restaurant. The owner knows his stuff and is very adamant in making sure you’re happy. He went around to every table while we were in there. Ah! I ALMOSTFORGOTDESSERT!!! The bread pudding is quite good. Ours came out warm and hit the sweet tooth. Yum! If this place were closer, we’d make it on our list of «Date Night» places. Give it a shot.

I have eaten at Mio several times and every time the service is outstanding and the food is delicious. My favorite dinner is the salmon, mashed potatoes and vegetables and my favorite salad is the one with watercress, hearts of palm and tomatoes. The bruschetta is to die for! Now my favorite dessert, well it’s hard to pick, so I’ll say the chocolate tart and of course the tiramisu are both wonderful. It’s a small place, so I usually make a reservation, and I’ve never had to wait.

The strip mall location is somewhat disguised by a charming patio surrounded by large planters. The chef was picking basil as we walked in the door for lunch. The restaurant was pretty empty, but I had a decent experience at the restaurant next door and I had heard good things about this more casual pizza concept. A lot of what I heard about the pizza was carry out orders, so many a lot of people don’t do a sit down lunch here. We were not in a big hurry and it was a good thing, since there was a «incident» with the pizza we ordered and they were doing them again. We had already had our salads(Caesar) which were just OK. We noticed several people coming in and out picking up pizza’s, then finally… our pizza’s came to the table. I had a 4 cheese with greens on top and opted for the wheat crust. It was perfectly crispy with a tangy and salty cheese melted perfectly throughout. I wish I could remember which pizza my sister ordered, but it was more like a flatbread with tomato sauce and no where near as good as my dish. Back to the salads, the waiter told us there were anchovies on the caesars. When the salads came without anchovies, are questioning of the discrepancy made him even more nervous then he was already. He mumbled something about sorry and ran off. Our beautiful white tablecloth was covered with ice, water and spilled tea. He was definitely new to the service industry and I felt bad for him, I just wish he wasn’t learning the ropes at my table. In short, I think the pizza here is worth the trip. I am going to try it again. I would skip the salad and get carry out.

The idea of an upscale Italian café/bistro is nothing new nor exciting. However, my parents suggested this place for dinner because they had been before and continued to hear good things. The menu offers a small variety of dishes including: traditional appetizers, salads, pastas and gourmet pizzas. We split 2 salads amongst 4 people. The wedge ceasar($ 6) was decent. Wedge of iceberg lettuce with some nice homemade ceaser dressing served with bleu cheese crumbles. Bleu cheese on a ceaser is not typical, but got no complaints from me because bleu cheese is great on almost everything. The pizza is another story. We ordered two large speciality pizzas(each at $ 14). While the toppings were higher quality and they did provide a decent amount, the pizza itself was dissapointing. The crust was flavorless and didn’t seem like it spent enough time in the oven. There also seemed to be very little sauce on the pizza. I have no qualms with fork & knife pizza. In fact, sometimes its an important part of the pizza experience. However, when I have to use a fork & knife to eat a simple slice of pizza because my slice is falling apart because of a soggy crust, then it becomes a problem. And boy was the pizza here soggy, because again it wasn’t cooked long enough, they let it sit out too long to cool or because aside from the toppings, the pies were just covered in too much low quality melted cheese.
