Finally, he’s gone. Stiffed the utility companies, no rent, constant unfounded complaints. Court ordered eviction, and he’s on to the next scam. If you run into Dave Kemp, run, don’t walk, run away.

I absolutely love this place. My favorite menu item is the firehouse biscuits and gravy. I also love the philly, Dave is the owner and he always makes me and my wife laugh when we go in. Im glad we have such a nice place near our house. Its Bout Thyme

Some folks are complaining about the suggestions of the counter guy, but he knows what he is talking about! Great sandwich — can’t beat it.

My son has been here several times so thought I should try it. For all you Subway and Jimmy John lovers you should try this. Food was good and a diverse menu. Yes owner was loud but RoyLs game on. Agree with others like a NY or Chicago neighborhood deli

Reading some of the(negative) reviews here remind me why I want to drive and move far and away from this dry/sad(and I’ll eat my salad and enjoy my personality of a cucumber) humorless town. I came in here and couldn’t decide, Dave said«Your indecision wouldn’t happen to be cause your a woman would it?» I laughed. No problem, and told my husband that most women(especially feminists) wouldn’t understand the humor. The fact is I should have responded«I’m only living up to my gender because you have provided with some delicious selections.» It was my first time and I ordered the panini, it was so delicious we came back for breakfast two days later. I found out that they had been around for 16 months and I only wonder why I hadn’t been in before. I agree with another review that noted how this is like a New York, Chicago, or Philadelphia deli with a crass shtick that is as sharp tasting as the food. If you can’t handle the fire don’t bother coming in. Its evident only the witty people with hearty appetites will enjoy stopping in for more than a bite.

Food was just ok. Very overpriced for what you get. The owner was by far the worst part, he’s very full of himself & even critiqued what I ordered. Our food came out several minutes apart so mine was almost cold by the time my boyfriends came. All in all not a good experience.

This place was a huge disappointment tried it for the first time because most of the reviews seemed to be good, well big mistake. Either the people that gave good reviews have completely lost their taste buds or they really have no idea what good food is. I would say the food at this place is a mix between gas station food and something you get at wendys or subway. I think even subway may be better than this place. Tip to owner make smaller menu and perfect a few things instead of a menu with 50 crappy items. Save your money dont go here. They get one star because the girl taking our order was really nice.

I can’t recommend the gyro sandwich. It hardly had any meat in it. Some of the other choices my friends had seemed delicious, so will return for another try.

I don’t know why I keep giving this place chances to redeem itself. I ordered the veggie panini and they say it comes with hummus, artichokes and spinach. Apparently what they mean is that the artichokes and spinach are blended into the hummus… which you get very little of. And generally, all their veggie items are sour because of the overabundance of olives and pickled things they put on them. Never. Going. Back.

Really good food. Apparently the bad reviews on here have never been to a deli in New York or Philadelphia. It’s part of the shtick. Great employees and great food. Large menu for such a small place. Highly recommended.

I would give it no stars if I could. Been here a hand full of times. First time food was good. Kept getting worse each time. Yesterday was my very last visit. All the food is just prepackaged pieces put together. Desserts are horrible. The owner makes the atmosphere uncomfortable. He yells the whole time. Either at employees, on his phone or even at customers. The cashier is this sweet lady. She had a question about the register when she first asked he yelled at her from across the restaurant. Then when she didn’t understand what he was yelling he came stomping over pushed her out of the way and«I will just do it!». Twice he has questioned what I was ordering and said I shouldn’t watch what I eat. Looked me up and down and suggested the most high calorie thing on the menu. When I said I watch what I eat so I can be healthy for my family his reply is that we are all going die anyway. What I choose to eat at his restaurant is none of his business. Surprising that people still eat here.

This is great place to eat. it has become a second office for me! Great environment! Count on Dave to treat you like family. The food has taste and home spun feel about it. Great place to hang out and eat!

First time visitor. I’ll be back. At their suggestion I had the Barn Yard Club. The marble rye was spectacular. With fresh and plentiful in-between ingredients, it was a sandwich bigger than my face. Chips and a drink for $ 10. Very nice lunch indeed.

I like supporting local businesses but this place is slower than molasses! Only go here if you have 30 minutes or more to wait for your food, especially if the place is busy.

Disappointing to say the least. I first went there once for lunch. I ordered the buffalo chicken philly. It tasted like a microwaved pile of dog food covered in processed cheese. We went there a second time to see if the breakfast menu was any better. Same quality. Dry, bland, microwaved food. And the worst part is they have the audacity to charge $ 9 for a breakfast burrito that is nothing but a store bought tortilla, frozen meat, sauce from a bottle, and banana peppers from a jar. No sides, no veggies, nothing fresh. To top everything off was the owner, who, instead of doing business in his office or quietly towards the back of the dinning area, decided to pace around the front entry way, arguing into his phone with someone for about 30 minutes. He then decided everyone that he knew that came in the door needed to know about said argument by SHOUTING across the restaurant to them. Seriously? Get it together. I’d give this place until the end of the summer, tops. Rude ownership and sub-par food. Don’t waste your money.

People wise up this man is a crook!!! he has taken advantage of employees and customers all over this town… He’s not even a good businessman every business he opens it closes and he always leaves large debt behind him, landlords are trying to see him out from all over the city. And then to make it even worse his food is horrible.

A fantastic menu for such a small place. Hot and cold sandwiches, pasta, salads, and some great desserts. I had the ‘Big Dave’; turkey, ham and bacon on what looked like home-made wheat bread. Lots of meat and perfect condiments. My wife had the corned beef reuben, and it was very good also. Her comment was that we should share a sandwich on our next visit because they were so large. We also shared a side of excellent potato salad. Big chunks of potato in a not-too mayonaissy dressing. Dave was doing the cooking, and I enjoyed talking with him. The counter help was new and inexperienced, and I suspect that anything out of the ordinary might slow things down. The young lady who helped me knew nothing about the menu, but was able to get things handled. I’m sure they will improve with time. The store was clean, and customers seemed to move through efficiently. We will definitely be back.

Very awesome Food! My wife and I eat there at least weekly, the service and food quality are the same every time… Aces. Dave the owner is a real friendly guy trying to be a part of the Downtown Lee’s Summit Community and doing a fine job. We hope to see Bout Thyme Deli do very well and stick around for a while. P.S Try the Cheeseburger Pizza! Amazing!

Horrible place. Expensive and slow. Took over a half hour to get our food. Same person working the register & making the food. Food quality was similar to school cafeteria food.
