Get what you pay for, and don’t pay for what you get! Yes, I am a fan. I’ve seen some who balk at the prices, but the quality of the food, service, and style is well up to the price. I find the prices not much higher than 54th Street Grill and Applebee’s(places I equate to Denny’s in service and food quality). The décor is subdued and a bit upscale, but without the urban chic distraction you find in more of the upscale places in town. An interesting note: the booths are designed with a floor to ceiling«wall» on either side — last time we were there there was a large family gathering nearby that appeared to get rather loud from time to time, but we were able to carry on a relaxed conversation in our booth! The bar is actually two bars: one in next to the main dining room and the other is behind sliding doors and tied to two patios. The former is perfect for a before dinner drink and the later is perfect for happy hour(the patio’s allow smoking too). Reservations are handled well, and every time we have been there the wait staff has been friendly, efficient, and respectful(not the high school girls you find at Applebee’s and the like). One word on appetizers: do not pass up the calamari! Easily the best in KC. Steaks are grilled and served exactly as you order them. In short, I like it!

have eaten here about 9 times. More for convenience than anything. It appears that Summit tries to pass itself off as a 4 – 5 star establishment, however, in some ways its nowhere near that. The brunch on Fathers Day was a far cry from the brunch they served on Easter and Mothers Day. No carving table with ham and roast/prime rib and a layout of eats that looked like no thought was even put into it. Frankly, I was shocked and a little dismayed how poorly it all looked. A great brunch is more like V’s Pasta Parlor — all the fixings for a complete breakfast menu or lunch that is «consistent» every Sunday is what I would expect too see. Any brunch without a carving table with ham and roast/prime rib is not a brunch. This past Fathers Day brunch looked like the chef just threw out stuff just to fill the table layout up. There was no pan of eggs and no carving table whatsoever. A far cry from what they did for Mothers Day and Easter. Its was just poorly put together. Its not to say they don’t have some things that our worth a shot for dinner. But, when I look at an overall score for everything — taste, presentation, service, etc., — Im afraid I could only score it at a 5 – 6 out of 10. Keep it consistent. Look at what the other restaurants are doing — Nick and Jakes, V’s, etc. Their brunches are top notch! Summit — Needs a lot of work.

Great place to eat, reservations on open table, great service. A good variety of different dishes on their menu: salads, burgers, steaks. I have only come here for dinner but never made it to happy hour unfortunately.

LOVETHISPLACE! We regularly go for happy hour. The street tacos, burger sliders and wings are our favorites. Pot roast nachos are not on the happy hour menu but they are tasty! The dinner menu is great too — our favorites are the chicken fried chicken and the seafood mac(omg yummy). Can’t forget bottomless mimosas for weekend brunch! Happy hour can get packed so it’s best to get there early.

For the pricing and caliber of establishment it is supped to be, its horrible. Badly mismanaged, food is mediocre and the managers frequently on duty, are allowed to drink on the job and pass problems off on the servers, very unprofessional. AVOID, don’t waste your money

I’ve had dinner with a friend here a couple of months ago and enjoyed the salmon stuffed with brie and lobster– it was quite good. So when another friend & I were in the mood for a nice dinner, Summit Grill & Bar came to mind. It was Sunday around 6:00. There wasn’t a single person in the dining room so we opted to eat in the bar with others and get happy hour food. The do have a good happy hour but the servers really need some coaching. Many of them(ours included unfortunately) seemed to think raising the pitch of their voice & speaking loudly made them sound… friendly? helpful? interested? perky? None of the above are true — a natural voice with normal volume is just fine… really… pleeeeeaze… The spinach dip is good as are the wings. The pot roast sliders would have actually been very good if not for the rather large lump of pure FAT on one of the small rolls. So, whoever was putting it together either wasn’t paying attention or didn’t care. What would have been nice was having a server who took a sincere interest in knowing if our food was good. «Need anything?» and«no problem» combined with the apathetic body language, long waits for our appetizers and infrequent visits gave a clear picture of her desire to be there. The Royals season opener was on & we were a bit surprised to find the bar only partially filled. The happy hour food menu is actually pretty good but the drinks are very weak. I guess the mediocre service and drinks could account for the half empty bar during our season opener. I might go back but it will probably be awhile.

Excellent happy hour. You have to try the street tacos, they are wonderful. Also, I recommend the pot roast nachos. On a nice evening the outdoor patios with fire pits are a hit. One piece of info… Parking can be tricky, they have plenty since you can use the lot attached but if you just wait a minute and watch for people to walk out, it is easy to get a good spot. Cheers

The unlimited Mimosas at $ 9.99 is a deal within itself. They keep the cups filled and keep em coming. The food itself is a bit blah. Your average bar and grill food. I had the chicken fried chicken and potatoes. It wasn’t bad but nothing to write home about. They have a good selection of food at affordable prices. Food just a bit on the bland side.

We had a group of 9 people on Friday, February 12th. We had reservations for 7:00pm. We were not seated until 8:00 pm with orders not being taken until 8:20 and dinner not served until 9:00 pm. The experience in the bar while waiting was not good as they said there coke machine was out of syrup. We only had one person that wanted a coke all the others ordered alcoholic beverages. They served coke other drinks with alcohol in them. They clearly were not interested in serving just coke. When the dinner finally arrived there was an issue with both of the Filet plus Shrimp dinners. The one filet had a hair on it and both of the filets were clearly not filets. The first part of the filet was so tough they had to chew for 3 minutes or more. The Shrimp was cold and the overall meal was not good. For $ 34.95 you would think you would experience a nice meal. This is a dinner we do every couple of months with any where from 9 to 12 people. I can absolutely say that this restaurant will not be on the list again in the future.

The food was decent, but it was a bit expensive and the service seemed slow to lacking. I wouldn’t mind going there, but it’s not a compelling desire.

No need to drive to the Plaza! Great food, service and atmosphere. Happy hour apps are the best in KC!

First time here. Met a friend for drinks while in town. Sat in bar, not impressed with run down tables and beat up leather chairs. Definitely needs a redo. Happened to hit during Happy Hour, I had 2 red sangrias, they were ok. Hubby had 2 Stellas on tap, only $ 3 during Happy Hour. Hubby had ultimate grilled cheese, he loved it. Came with braised beef in it, shoestring fries on the side. I had blackened mahi and steak street tacos, they were very good. They had gluten free option too. Server was very good, did not charge me for steak tacos since they took a long time to come out, I appreciate that. Beer selection was lacking, wine menu looked decent. Was very busy when we left. Wouldn’t go out of my way to come back here, was not blown away.

I’m not a big fan of this place. I find it overpriced for the quality. I’m always sad when I order nachos, and there are only six chips. :(The happy hour special are about all I go for and they aren’t all that special. There are better places to go for happy hour. The building is at a good location. There’s not a lot of competition around. So it’s got that going for it. It’s a dark-style, cigar-bar-feel, and seems like a place for an indiscretion. The atmosphere is nice enough but I’m never really impressed by the food or drinks. There was once an all you can drink mimosa day, that was top notch.

We had a 7:45pm reservation that we booked through open table. When we arrived a few minutes early, we were told it would be closer to our reservation time for our table. I kept inquiring and an hour later when I inquired how much longer it would again, they told me they were still seating 7:15 reservations. Needless to say, we weren’t pleased. We ended up sitting in the bar, which is quite noisy… our romantic dinner wasn’t very romantic. The only saving grace was my ribeye was tender and tasty. It will be awhile before we go back.

Let me start with the best part, the price. I paid 13 dollars for Atlantic salmon, bacon green beans, and jasmine rice. That’s what I would pay for a burger and fries most places downtown! It’s the only restaurant in the area, and a quality one at that! My salmon had a delicious crispy outside, with a moist tender inside. Topped with a lemon butter that had almost a cream color to it. Jasmine rice and bacon green beans had tons of flavor and cooked perfectly. The happy hour menu looked excellent although we were there a little too early to order from it(We are around 2:15) Server was very friendly and answered questions over menu thoroughly. We will be returning ASAP! Edit: Just tried the happy hour, landed on blackened mahi tacos and calamari. 5.95 for the tacos and 5.95 for the calamari. Tank 7 on happy hour for 3 dollars?! Don’t mind if I do! Can’t get enough of this place. Deserving of every star!

Great place! Our dinner was almost perfect. We were looking to try out a new place for dinner, and having read some good reviews decided to stop by. This is a very elegant looking place. The whole place is dimly lit, with candles on the tables. Everything looks very nice and clean. We came in on a Sunday night around 8 and the dining room area was deserted, so we opted to sit in the bar area. The bar itself was full, but there were plenty of open tables. Service was initially a little slow as there seemed to be only one server, but there were only 6 tables with people. A few minutes later another server showed up and service was pretty smooth from then on. We started with the wings, which were great! we ordered them naked, they were meaty and juicy, and very flavorful even without any sauce. My wife had the chicken club with a side of Mac & cheese. The sandwich was very large and the meat was very tender. The Mac and cheese were delicious, cheesy, but not too rich. I had the farmhouse burger. That thing was almost too big and had almost too much going on between the thick beef patty, the bacon, lettuce, tomato, lettuce, and alioli. Regardless out was delicious! And the shoestring fries were also very good. After such a delicious meal we HAD to try their deserts. Unfortunately, it was disappointing. The chocolate gooey butter cake was surprisingly dry and chalky. And the crème brûlée was bland and the consistency was much to hard. We’ll definitely be back, but we’ll probably skip dessert.

Good food, great service but a the location is a bit too tucked away for my tastes as I live near the Plaza. For some reason, I expected this spot to be near lots of other restaurants and was surprised to see that it’s off a frontage road by a highway. I dined solo here while out and about around Lee’s Summit on a beautiful afternoon and opted for the patio. It’s a smaller patio but with comfortable chairs and a small fountain anchoring the center of it. My server, Aimee, was pure awesomeness. She has a great energy about her and knows her stuff. I tried the chicken fried chicken with green beans and since this is a heavy meal, I opted to swap out the mashed potatoes for more green beans. Ho-ly mo-ly is this a TON of food. It’s easily enough for two large meals! Just look at the pic I posted and you’ll see it’s two chicken breasts. One of the chicken breasts was tender and delicious, and one was a bit tougher than usual. All in all, a good spot but I’ll definitely stick with their other location in Waldo due to proximity.

Had an especially pleasant dinner here tonight. The atmosphere was nice, the food was wonderful and the service was extremely hospitable. We were dining when everyone’s phones received tornado warnings… The management and our server was superb about notifying patrons when it was tine to move from tables to the back area(near bathrooms and kitchen) and even during this stressful time, the staff was super positive and calm, and keeping us in the loop was really reassuring. The food was so delicious: hubby and I and tyke shared the chicken fried chicken(highly recommend!!!) so crispy and tender, delectable sauce and the green beans were perfectly sautéed. My son annihilated the side of Mac n Cheese(generous portion! $ 3.95) and the wedge salad was also plenty to share. Since we camped out til the multiple tornado warning passed, we splurged on the chocolate gooey butter cake(w/ice cream) it was simply outrageously decadent. The three of us couldn’t finish but it was a crowd pleaser. Talk about an unforgettable evening here!

Found me the best fish tacos in town — Blackened Mahi Tacos. The fish was perfectly grilled, the tacos is filled with a flavorful slaw and drizzled with a creamy sauce. The happy hour prices was worth driving 35 minutes. The Farm House Burger was more for 2 serving. When I took my first bite into the medium-cooked burger, the yolk dripped all over my fingers, I had no time to apologize to my girlfriends as I was too busy licking my fingers. My friends ordered the Seafood Mac and Cheese, Chicken Carbornara Pasta, Traditional Pot Roast and the carbless Grilled Chicken Club. They all enjoyed their dishes as it was complete silence until someone fought for the last roll. Their rolls are so moist and warm when it was brought out, I had to put the napkin right over my friend’s roll to keep it warm until she returned. The chocolate expresso martini is a must have if you are not lactose intolerant. That evening, we almost saved $ 30 for each person missing the Chippandales show for a nice relaxing dinner. I definitely will be back but with my family as this is a perfect place just for it.

The service was OK. The food looked outstanding, as evidenced by the pics I’ll post. The taste and execution left a lot to be desired. First, one of my boys ordered the Summit Fish and Chips, which is described on the menu as Cod, French Fries, Cole Slaw, and Tartar Sauce. What they delivered was a fish sandwich with fries and no slaw. Can’t help but feel they cheated him out of a piece of fish, but didn’t want to spend time waiting on a new order. Btw, there isn’t even a fish sandwich on the menu… weird. I got the Special, which was a prime rib sandwich topped with mushrooms, caramelized onions, and Swiss cheese, This looked way better than it tasted. The meat was ordered medium and served to me well, but still somewhat tender. The thing that made it really bad was the overwhelming taste of canned beef broth! I realized they were probably trying to revive the prime rib served the night before, but I could not get that taste out of my mouth for an hour! My other boy’s chicken tenders were good and the wife’s chicken fried chicken was good but the green beans tasted like frozen… which is gross. I do not think green beans freeze well, gives them a weird taste. Also, all of us who had french fries could not eat them they were so over-salted. No reason to return here. We’ll just wait until it changes into yet another restaurant.
