I would rate my meal a 5, the husband rated his a 3, so 4 it is. I was excited to try something new and we ordered the plantains and corn and cheese starters. I then got the shrimp in garlic sauce and he the ½ roasted chicken. The corn and cheese is so odd — it is literally giant corn on the cob pieces with a salty cheese. But, I LOVED it. I wish I knew what kind of cheese it was. Husband loved the plantains, but thought the chicken was just okay. The shrimp I had were perfectly cooked and not drowning in sauce. The rice was also delicious. I loved that the chef came around to talk to the tables as well.

Our first visit. We love Peruvian cuisine, and so chose Alpamayo based on Unilocal reviews. Small, family restaurant with simple décor. We will return when in the area. We enjoyed our dinner of Pollo Saltado with rice and fries, and the ½ chicken entrée with fries and house salad. Also ordered side of creamy Peruvian beans made from Peruano beans that will remind you of Cannellini beans. See Pics Tip: Can highly recommend Pollo Saltado(a Chinese-inspired traditional Peruvian dish) based on freshness and complexity of flavors. Will remind you of Asian cooking. Pluses: Friendly service. Full bar. If I wasn’t driving for hours more, would have tried a traditional Pisco Sour… a delightfully refreshing Peruvian(and Chilean) drink. Where: Minutes off I90 in downtown Lee. Street parking is free. Dinner daily except closed Monday; Lunch Fri-Sun Small Gripe: Would prefer the option to choose rice and beans as alternative to French Fries for uplift charge. Alert: Kitchen is small and can see that this place could easily be over-whelmed when full with diners.

Wonderful, fresh tasting, interesting food well served in a comfortable environment. Has now been«discovered» by locals and visitors, so it’s crowded on weekends, especially in the summer.

Never again. Last night was our 3rd time at this restaurant. Our previous experience was always great as the food was delicious and the service impeccable. There must has been some turnover in staffing as neither was acceptable last night. The restaurant was packed when we got there but we were seated immediately. The wait staff seems to be new and the waitress knew little about the items on the menu. I ordered a Pisco sour which smelled like my dog after a walk in the rain. My wife’s dinner came out with the appetizers. 3 tables seated 15 minutes after us got their meals long before us and were ready to leave before we were served our main course. None of the staff could be bothered to explain the delay and the waitress all but disappeared. I ordered the Arroz con Camarones which was described as a paella but turned out to be a plate heaped with tomato flavored rice and a few shrimp on top. Very disappointed that a lovely restaurant has turned into this. Never again.

I have only eaten here three times, but each time I was very happy with what I ordered. They have a seafood soup that is gorgeous served with rice on the side. It is enough for a meal. The amazing green sauce they serve with the roasted chicken is to die for. The salad was simple but good as were the fries, with the green sauce making both delicious. I have not ordered anything else except those two things(roasted chicken and seafood soup) because I cannot help but keep ordering them! I spotted a traditionally dressed grandma cooking in the kitchen. Yum and yum.

We eat at Alpamayo every few trips to Lee and always enjoy the variety and taste of their food and the authentic menu. Their ceviche(a national dish of Peru) is fresh and flavorful, and there are always a few to choose from. We enjoy their rice dishes, both meat and seafood, which are always spiced just right. You also can’t go wrong with any of their apps. The only dish we would not recommend is the guinea pig which was flavorful but a bit dry and very small. Not terrible, but not up to the rest of the menu. Service is excellent, the chicha morada great, and the toasted corn worth buying extra to take home. It crushes popcorn as a movie snack. A great place to eat especially if you are looking for a change of pace.

Went to Alpamayo last night after reading some good reviews — very glad that we went to try it out! We ordered a pitcher of sangria and ceviche de pescado to start. The ceviche was fresh, delicious and tangy with a medium spice. For our entrees, I ordered pescado a lo macho, which was a lightly breaded fish topped with shrimp, calamari, mussels and a creamy sauce. It was served with a helping of rice and was a wonderful meal! My boyfriend order the lomo saltado with a side of plantains. The steak was tender and flavorful and the plantains were cooked perfectly. We definitely plan to return for dinner soon!

This is the 2nd time we’ve been at Alpamayo… we were there a few years ago for a weekend getaway. The 1st experience was so good that we went back again this time and it didn’t disappoint. I love love love their soups– I think we ordered one of each soup and we all loved each of them. For entrees, we ordered the Lomos Pollo… which was ok… but let me say the soup made up for it. My friends had the arroz con marisco… that was really good. And the bistec… amazing. If you’re up in the area. this is the place to go for authentic peruvian fare.

We live in the Berkshires and have tried most restaurants except for Alpamayo. We were extremely disappointed. Their chicken was so overcooked it flaked… my second choice of shrimp was cooked so quickly the garlic was raw… the rice was plentiful but unseasoned and the green beans were undercooked… overall a mixed review since our friends thought it was ok. Lastly they sent our bill out twice incorrect.

This place was SOGOOD. We needed a place to eat dinner while driving back to Boston from upstate NY and I randomly found this place on Unilocal.I was originally put off by the slightly higher price point(we just wanted something super cheap) but we decided to go for it anyway and I’m really glad we did. The atmosphere inside is super casual and comfortable. The food was amazingly good. We got the Arroz Chaufa(a fried rice dish with chicken), a side of plantains, and a side of yucca. The portions were generous, and the fried rice was so good that I am legitimately sad I do not live closer to this place so I can get it again, and frequently. The plantains and yucca were delicious. My boyfriend tried the cold Chicha Morada(drink made with purple corn!!) which was SUPER good, and I got the hot Peruvian tea which was delightful. Both had spices /flavors that were reminiscent of fall, cinnamon-y goodness. The guy serving us was awesome, he clearly was passionate about the food, was happy to answer any of our questions, and checked in on us frequently. Would definitely go again and HIGHLY recommend!!!

We’re hungry and driving back to CT from visiting Williams College and we are in Lee, Massachusetts. Main Street is adorable with an old-timey, New England feel to it, but I am doubting that you can really find some tasty grub in these parts. I spot a restaurant selling Peruvian food, and since I’ve enjoyed some Peruvian dishes in the past we decided to give it a try. Mom wasn’t hungry, so she got the mussels appetizer, which turned out to be served cold with pico de gallo on top. They were not a hit. Sis and dad ordered the Tallarin Verde con Bisteck which was ok, but slightly disappointing. But the reason I have given this place four stars is for their Lomo Saltado which is simply the best I’ve ever had. It is my go-to dish when I’m trying a new Peruvian place and I can’t gush enough about Alpamayo’s version. I commented to our very sweet server how much I enjoyed my dish and she seemed genuinely pleased and said she would pass the compliment on to the chef. I can’t wait for out next trip to Williamstown just so that I can stop in Lee to enjoy the Lomo Saltado again.

Awesome food. Our server, Maribel was very nice. The dishes were authentic. My wife is from South America, Ecuador, more specifically. She and our daughter really enjoyed it The cuisine is pretty similar. I highly recommend this place. If you are ever in Lee MA, do stop in.

We walked in at 4:15 on a Sunday after a session at the outlets and ordered quickly, expecting to have a late-lunch-early-dinner of sorts. Unfortunately it turned out to be a regular dinner as we didn’t get our food until 5:20. The waitress knew the wait was getting excessive and brought over a cup of corn nuts, but didn’t apologize or offer anything else for our patience. I think the cooks might not have been there when we sat, since another party who came in 30 minutes after us was eating within five minutes of us. None of the other reviews mention long waits for food, so I’m guessing it’s a Sunday afternoon thing? The long wait aside, the food was good. We had the Arroz con Mariscos and a beef dish(Lomo something…) which were both very tasty. I expected slightly larger portions for the price – we actually finished both plates, but at most places with similarly priced rice dishes I end up taking tomorrow’s lunch home.

Great restaurant! Food is authentic, fresh, and delicious. Two of my friends ordered the shrimp paella and they loved it. I ordered a Peruvian seafood soup and it was LOADED with seafood, flavorful, and really tasty. We will definitely be back when we return to Lee.

I was going to give the restaurant four starts, only because the service was a bit slow. However, the food was absolutely outstanding, and I need to give kudos to the owner for his incredible honesty. More later. First the food… Seven of us went to Alpamayo tonight. We had heard good things about it, but only one of us had ever had Peruvian food, including my in-laws, who are not terribly adventurous in their dining choices. We ordered the potato with cheese and Peruvian pepper appetizer, which was very good. The sangria, at $ 22 per pitcher was good, and reasonably priced. They did not make it 75% ice to save on the liquor. We ordered a wide range of dinners. My wife and I had the sirloin steak, plantain and fried egg, although my wife substituted yucca, which the restaurant gladly did. My daughter, son and nephew got three different steak dishes, which we all tasted. The in-laws had a quarter chicken and the wings, non hot variety. Everything was out of this world. The spices were deliciously crafted without being hot. The portions are not huge, but they are large enough and are very reasonably priced. I definitely look forward to coming back here. Now for the owner’s honesty. I guess I did not look at the bill that carefully. As many restaurants do, they added a tip, since we were a large group. I did not notice this and added an additional tip. He actually called me to tell me, and offered to take off the extra tip. He didn’t need to do that. He had my number, because we made a reservation and left me a detailed voice message. That is going above and beyond.

A quick review for a dope Peruvian joint: This place is LEGIT! My fam is from Peru, I grew up eating Peruvian food, I go back every couple of years. I 100% vouch for Alpamayo! We ordered the ceviche mixto, lomo saltado and tallarin de mariscos and all dishes were on point! Our server was wonderful, the chef greeted us warmly. I can’t say enough good thing. Just try it! Buen provecho!

Stopped here after going to the Lee Prime Outlets. This is my second visit here but my first review. This place is a find. The food is delicious and plentiful. I love that they serve you a small ramekin of Chocle, which is Peruvian unpopped popcorn, while you are waiting for your meal to arrive. It is crunchy and tasty, think Corn Nuts, only 100% better. I had the Pescado Frito which is the fried tilapia and it came with steamed rice and fried yucca. My dining companion had the Calamares Frito and that came with fried yucca. If you are in the area and want a really good meal, then this is the place for you.
