Don’t spend your money here. The clerks are idiots. The rude old man that runs the place always has a scowl on his face and is a real jerk. When I’m in a hurry and stop by, he always tells me that I need to stand at the other register, even if the place is empty. «Go over there» he barks. He is on a power trip. There are two registers, and it doesn’t matter which one I stand by, he tells me everytime I need to stand at the other register, before he will take my money. And, the lotto people ALWAYS come first, no matter what. There can be 5 people in line to buy soda, and he will only serve the people who are buying lottery tickets. He doesn’t believe in good customer service. That is a foreign word to him. Don’t go to this store, the owner hates customers and is rude. I will never go to this store again.

Johnny is an awesome store owner that is truly customer friendly. I just can’t stand all of the people that hang out in the front. I would come back here again.

BESTLIQOURSTOREINTHEGROVE!!! FRIENDLYCLERKS, FAIRPRICES, ANDBEATSTHEHECKOUTOFGROVELIQOURS(the name doesn’t even make sense, lol!) You don’t have to wait for the light at broadway and mass when you go to this place– just pull right in after coming home from the 94! This business works hard and deserves your money during this horrible recession!

This liquor store seriously ROCKS. I’ve only lived in the area for a few months, and I first visited Rock because they’re the local Daily Racing Form distributor(the newspaper for horse racing fans). It felt like I was picked up and dropped right down in the middle of New York. The manager who I’ve since learned is named Johnny is a mile-a-minute entertainment. The guy is just always on a verbal roll about something. I walked in on NFL Draft day and he was busy lecturing a guy about the pro’s and con’s of the Chargers draft. I stepped up, made a comment, and seamlessly felt a part of the circle. Just like they do back East. And he’s a nice guy too. Lots of kids come in after school for candy and drinks, and I’ve seen him on more than one occasion reach back and pull out a handful of different candies and hand them out to each of the kids. «Ok say Hi to your Mom and stay outta trouble!» he would say as they smiled and left the store. They’ve got a nice beer selection here, which I definitely like. And despite what another poster wrote, you are safe here.

So having grown up in Lemon Ghetto, Rock was where us kids would walk down to spend our allowance on cheap candy and sodas. Time rolls on, and so do years… Now I stop at the liquor store for booze before a party, or a rockstar on the way to an event. Johnny is the main clerk at Rock, and can I just say: @$$-hole. Seriously. If you think you’re so much better than your clientele, get out of the business. I used to stop here a couple times a week. It was directly in the path between freeway exit and home. After solidly decreasing service, being bitched at by Johnny for asking him if they were going to get any more blue cans of rockstar in any time soon, and hassled by the increased population of homeless, panhandlers, and drug dealers(no, I’m not hating, it gets scary… one guy kicked my car when I said I didn’t have any $$, i only had plastic on me), that he lets hang out and pays to run errands/do odd jobs for him with cigarettes and booze, I swore off Rock Liquor. Go across the street to the Chevron/Extra Mile, or a right next to the Chevron to Grove Liquor. Tommy @ Grove is awesome.
