Love their chicken and broccoli. Btw if you love bamboo they add a little bit to this dish, I drive out of the way for this place! Yum!

Dinner from here is a frequent choice because of convenience. 1st off, this is a Togo place … You really don’t want to go out to dinner here … It’s like every other take out Chinese place, drab, dull, sodas stacked near the cooler, Resturant boxes of condiments & plastic ware … That sorta thing. 2nd, don’t expect only those neat little paper cartons Chinese restaurants used to be notorious for. This place uses the round & rectangular plastic serving bowls too, I believe they have all gone to …(Thank you Sysco for homogenized Restaurants, not.) Oh well, they make great recyclable containers for many things & then in the recycling bin they go ;-) 3rd, They do cook to order b/c many of their dishes automatically come with mushrooms and we always request none due to an allergic family member. Advice: If you do special order anything, check it there b/c I don’t believe they intentionally disregard the request, it’s just that occasionally they have made a mistake of including them. As to the food, it standard Chinese food :-) It’s solid takeout. We vary our choices frequently & the dishes are pretty consistent. I would agree with a previous poster that the egg rolls although homemade(I believe) are just mediocre. Doesn’t stop me from getting a vegetarian one though from time to time. I like spicy foods,(although I shouldn’t eat them for dietary reasons) but their«spicy«is NOT @ all hot so if your squeamish about a dish because it indicates it is hot, take that with«a grain of salt«. One family member who despises HOT regularly enjoys their sesame chicken and thinks it’s more sour than spicy. I tasted it tonight and would agree. I’ve had 2 or 3 different dishes with the HOT indicator and have never felt any«mouth burn«@ all. The standard yellow packages of Chinese mustard are hotter than anything I’ve personally tasted on the menu. Appreciate that they have self serve condiments & plastic ware ! We call ahead and live 10 minutes from here & we have never waited upon getting there within 10 — 15 minutes. One thing I find odd is a tip jar … I like to tip and will without the none too subtle reminder on the counter but, the fact is I picked up my own order and unless they’ve done something«above and beyond«I think it’s not something I personally would tip for … This is a take out joint.

OK… my family and I eat Chinese or Japanese food about once a week. We are from a large city, so there are 100’s of options for Asian food, from«bad» to «amazing». Maybe that’s a factor but I can’t see how China Wok is getting all 5 stars reviews. The food is «good» but, 1 quart of beef with broccoli or chicken with vegetables or whatever is basically one quart of the dish INCLUDING the white rice, not one quart of what you ordered. This is NOT how they do it where I come from, nor anywhere I have ever visited, including in the UK. You get a pint or quart of what you ordered PLUS a container or two of rice on the side. Not only that, but the amount of meat in the dish is very scant — I mean about 1⁄5 of what I’m used to. The vegetables were good, but again, you don’t that much b/c 2/3’d of the container is filled up with the rice. But the prices are the same as what I’m used to, so if you do the math, you’re paying the same amount for about 1⁄3 of the food you ordered. Also — scant on the flavor, but heavy on the oil, for a bad kids asked, «why is the beef fried rice yellow?!» I’ve had everything from dark brown to very light brown, but never yellow, and again the lack of flavor, but plenty«oily». So not bad, but not 5 stars by any measure. I am sincerely hoping that China Wok isn’t getting these great reviews b/c everything else around here is terrible. I’ll revisit this review if that’s the case.

My wife decided to take a mini-vacation this past weekend and so my daughter and I had a daddy-daughter date night that included some Chinese Takeout at China Wok. Honestly, I didn’t even know this place existed until I researched the area a little bit. We have been to Ho Wah, but with their recent and ridiculous changes to the menu I have been passively tasting other area Chinese restaurants. Although China Wok has its merits, I still have to say that China Tea House is still the clear-cut winner for Chinese food in this region. Food: Every time I try a new Chinese restaurant, I always order about the same thing. It allows me to judge a new restaurant against a baseline. As such, I ordered a General Tso Combination Platter(included fried rice, egg roll for 7.95) and some Boneless BBQ Ribs(I love these darn things!). Boneless Ribs: They were a little bit undercooked. I like mine when the outside gets a tiny bit of char on it, and the fat is fully rendered — kinda like bacon. If the fat in pork dishes is not fully rendered, then it ends up being a little bit chewy and gross. This was not in the ‘gross’ range, but it was close. General Tso: Unlike many of the other Chinese restaurants in the area, the coating on their chicken was not as crispy as I like. It was soggy. In terms of flavor, and if my taste buds are not mistaken, they put pineapple juice in their General Tso sauce. Not sure how I feel about that. It definitely deviates from what I am used to, and after careful consideration, I think that although this is unique and different; I would prefer that flavor not be in my General. The Pork Fried Rice was good. It was definitely under-seasoned, but included a lot of things that I love in a fried rice — bean sprouts being one of them! Also, there was a fair amount of pork in the rice. Also, they get points for actually having PORK fried rice included in the meal. So many places charge extra for the pork now. The egg roll was a disappointment. It was definitely homemade, but it similar flavors to that you would buy in the frozen department of a grocery store and cook yourself at home. It was not bad, but again, it differed from the flavor I was expecting /desiring. All of that said, everything seemed to be pretty fresh. Though, I am suspicious of the way they prepare their popular(volume) dishes. You know, the dishes that are most frequently ordered? I ordered my General Tso, and it was done 6 minutes later — during dinner rush. My assumption(and I hope I am wrong) is that they mass fry a huge batch of the chicken in preparation for their dinner hour, then hot-hold it, then toss it in whatever sauce the customer orders. This would explain several things. First, it would explain the soggy breading, and the impossibly fast fulfillment time of my order. No hard evidence, but just a guess… Food: 3⁄5 Service: Extremely fast. If you are looking for an extremely fast, prompt, efficient experience … this is it. 6 minutes for my order. For me, expediency does not matter if the food is only mediocre. Service: 3⁄5 Atmosphere: For a Chinese TAKEOUT place, this was above average. It had a large seating area for those who wanted to eat-in. It had decent booths too. Usually, Chinese takeout restaurants have limited seating, and it is usually pretty uncomfortable. This was nice — contextually speaking. Atmosphere: 4⁄5 Price: For about $ 13.00, this food met expectation, but gets a bonus point for having pork fried rice as the standard — not just fried rice or white rice where the business then forces you to pay extra(usually a ridiculous cost) for pork. Price: 4⁄5(3+1 for pork) Final Thoughts: For solid Chinese food that will quell your craving, this is a good choice in the area that will likely fill you up. For me though, I am still going to make the trip out to China Tea House when I am looking for some seriously good food and service.

Best Chinese food we’ve ever had. Seriously. The Gen Tsos shrimp had big, tender shrimp, not over breaded. My wife’s vegetarian dish was enough for two days, and cooked perfectly, with fresh veggies. They obviously care about the food. This was better Chinese food than in several china town«authentic» restaurants I’ve been to in numerous cities. Really glad we found this place.

Now delivers locally. I will no longer need the other Chinese food restaurant down the street. China Wok has excellent food for a great price. High quality… Nice staff. They also have Bourbon Chicken with is a plus in my book. Moo Shoo Pork is awesome. Best egg rolls too.

Favorite Chinese Takeout in the area. Food is delicious, staff is great. Place is usually very busy, but they have always gotten our order right the first time.

Shrimp Lo Mein had plenty of shrimp, they weren’t overcooked, and the crab Rangoon was excellent. Was ready very quickly despite multiple phone orders being taken while I waited. If you need a quick lunch that’s inexpensive, tasty and filling, consider this place.

I called to place an order and lady that answered the phone was very rude taking the order and was rushing me with«we are busy so please hurry up» I places the order because I had no other choice. The delivered my food 1 hr and 23 minutes later. She was even rude when I called and asked for the food. I understand the fact they were busy but that doesn’t give her the right to treat a custumer like that. The food was cold too. First and last time I call.

My other half discovered this place about three months ago because there was a sign about«Harrisburg’s Best 2013» in the window. I’ve noticed it before but thought it was a sad location with nobody eating inside. Instead, turns out, they do a great take-out business. We’ve ordered about 10 – 12 times in the past three months and each time the food has been delicious, ready when promised and the orders accurately filled. In our opinion, consistency, especially with Chinese-style food, is important. This has become our go-to place where we can count on great-tasting food ready on time.

The hunan chicken was alright but the egg rolls were tiny with a small amount of cabbage and lots of grease. I also didn’t care for the big chunks of pork in the fried rice. The takeout service was fast.2 meals were ready in 10 minutes. I’m sticking to Marco Polo Gardens for when I want authentic and China Café for Americanized.

Very small minimalistic not great for eating there but for take out its great. Price average but food quality is excellent and portions are above average. I’ve eaten there around 5 times and never had a bad meal. Had orange chicken tonight with pork fried rice, very good. The chicken actually had a nice orange taste instead of that mediocre orange tasting sauce I’ve had at other Chinese establishments. Was able to only finish half, looks like I will have some tasty food later tonight.

Used to go to Ho-Wah all the time. Tries China Wok and that is our new take-out Chines restaurant of choice. I would never go to eat-in, as the décor is lousy. But the food is great and nice portions and prices. Try the Triple Delight — awesome!

as a general rule i love takeaway from Chinese restaurants. i had driven by China Wok many times as i work in the same plaza, but i’d never stopped. commenting on being hungry one night, a co-worker convinced me to stop in. it was a few days later and out of sheer despiration that i did so. i phoned my order in as traffic was bad and i wasn’t really in the mood to wait about and make small talk. even though they clearly told me ten minutes on the phone, my order was not ready for an additional twenty. when i got to the restaurant, it was by no means busy. the place itself is very small and unimpressive. the floor space — what little there is — is overrun by tables, a beverage cooler, two-liter bottles and other drinks not in the cooler, and a dividing wall. in the middle of the room is a table with assorted condiments and utensils out for the taking — forks, spoons, soy, duck, hot mustard — but no chopsticks. i also didn’t see napkins, but there were menus. the food itself was good, but nothing to really rave about. i got an order of fried dumplings for a friend — i’m not fond of the«one size» mentality, but he didn’t complain about having what would be considered a large everywhere else. my sesame shrimp was okay. it was too much breading and not enough shrimp for my taste. it did include broccoli, but it was more as a garnish as it was completely raw and just added as a barrier between the shrimp and the container. China Wok uses recyclable plastic containers which appealed to my inner tree-hugging hippie, but it’s sad to say that was probably the highlight of the meal. i may end up there again out of convenience more than desire. more likely, i’ll save my money and go to Isaac’s instead.
