Let’s start with the place. I took my wife, her mom and grandmother in last night for dinner as they live near there and have been dying to try it. We got there and were seated next to a work happy hour group of about 15 people that were rude and didn’t care about anyone around them. Loud and obnoxious and if I knew where they worked I’d make the call. It’s not a bar, it’s a restaurant that happens to have happy hour deals. I hope the $ 150 made off their 75-$ 2 beers was worth the customers you lost and asked to be moved because of it. We asked to be moved but our food arrived at the same time so we suffered through it. Speaking of suffering, the molten wings were sweet as was the chili served on top of the tots. My wife had the philly and thought it was good. My mother-in-law had the Reuben and also was unimpressed. We won’t be back to this location.

Decided to stop in for lunch. I have driven by the place and didn’t know what it was. Glad we did. I ordered a brisket sandwich for $ 9 was well worth it served with homemade chips. Service was great and friendly, although it did take a little bit to get our food. I would go again and a place to take visiting friends and family.

Forgot to post a review of this place. And rightfully so given the experience. The food was over-priced and lackluster. Granted, it’s been a while, but it wasn’t worth stopping for. It really makes me miss the old Stonewall Inn restaurant, which was amazing. That place had amazing fish, steaks, homemade sides, and the best fried pickles I’ve ever had. This place now has mediocre sandwiches(the cheesesteak was really sup-par meat & the pastrami was bland as all get out) and overpriced drinks. And the 2 times I’ve dropped in, the service has been slow and poor. Sad times indeed.

We just had a high school graduation party for my daughter at Grinder’s Stonewall on a beautiful spring day on the outdoor patio. My wife and I could not believe how hard the staff at Grinders worked to make our day a success. Very special acknowledgment to the General Manager Stephanie, the manager that day, Dustin and our rock star dedicated server, Alex. We had abundant pizza, beer and soft drinks for a price that was a fraction of what it would have cost at other venues for 75 very happy friends. Best part of it is that many of those guests thanked me for helping them find a new place to spend their off time. Thank you to the entire Grinders team for helping us have a great day and a great memory.

The patio here is great! On a sunny afternoon kicking back with a craft beer there is no place better. While we are at it have a slice of pizza or a philly cheesesteak! The food is great. Service is great. But again the patio is awesome!

In From Des Moines IA for a few days doing some work for my co. @ the Embassy Suites so trying some new places. Thought this one looked cool & the Mixon caught my eye. It was pretty good but not out of this world. I would probably try something new the next time I stop in KS. The Beer was cold & after a long day a Budweiser was just what I needed. The menu has a great selection & the place is pretty cool. I was a lone stranger with a crowd of Royals fans watching the game. My Bar tender was very nice but could have used some help as I waited a lil for my check. I would recommend this place &WILL stop back in for sure.

Came on a Monday for Geeks Who Drink trivia. It’s free and a lot of fun! Plus, 2 for 1 pizza slices is a great deal and the pizza is delicious!

I was originally planning on heading to the location downtown, but thank God for Unilocal making me aware that there is a location closer to me! I came here specifically for the cheesesteak! I opted for the cheese whiz and onion only full length(12″) cheesesteak extra cheese whiz. I was craving a legit Pat/Geno’s style Philly cheesesteak, and I feel this is as close as you can get in Kansas. If this is what Kansas has to offer… I CAN’T WAIT to travel to PA one day. Grinder’s cheesesteak was phenomenal. The bread was soft, the meat was flavorful and tender, and the cheese whiz made the sandwich. It was hot and very fresh. We also ordered wings and cheese fries. The cheese fries were the perfect side– fresh, and crispy topped with the same cheese whiz my sandwich had I’m sure. Wings got good comments from my husband as well. So, yes if you are watching Travel Channel or Food Network late night and a special on Pat and Geno’s comes on, come to Grinders to get a taste of what you’re missing in PA. :) I will definitely be back.

The grinders stonewall located in Lenexa is great for get together with friends or colleagues from job alike. Do checkout the funky décor of this place. Waiting staff is courteous with a sense of humor. Food is out of the world be it a salad, a wrap or a pizza. We tried the Bengal tiger pizza, grilled romaine salad among other things. The star item however is the calzone. Dare to try it.

Came in with the lady and a few of her friends. Parking is a bit tight but sized right for the location. Waited about 30 for a seat for all six of us. Get seated and spend the next 10 minutes just looking at the decorations. This place is funky. In a fun sort of way. I go for a soft pretzel and 2 slices of pie. Pretzel was amazing. My lady loved it so much she’s already asking when we can go back. Pizza crust was some form of dark magic. Paper thin yet somehow still chewy. The cheese and toppings were fresh salty and just down right wonderful. Pro tip, fold those big slices like a taco and go to town. Our server was also just a trip. She was just a treat and took very good care of us. The Good: Great Pretzel, Great Pizza, Great Service. The Bad: Meh parking could be a little better but this is nit picking here. The Ugly: Its not built next to my house to I can eat it all the time!

I came here for lunch with a group of coworkers and I’m really glad I tried it since I had heard so much about it. We had a large group and even though they were very busy during the lunch hour, we were seated pretty quickly. I ordered a meatball sub which was just ok. I think the prices are a bit high for what you get here. Several of my coworkers ordered pizza and talked about how good it was, so if I come back, I’ll make sure to get pizza instead of a sandwich. Our waitress was nice, but our glasses sat empty for decent amounts of time during the meal. I wouldn’t necessarily rush back to Grinders, but I would be willing to give it a second chance.

Hmm… where to start. Positives: Their pizza was good. Surprisingly good. I really really enjoyed the salmon pie. Margherita was just okay. I will come back for the salmon pizza, but due to other issues, I won’t exactly rush back to Grinders. Other positives– The Philly cheesesteak hit the spot too. Big beer list. Outdoor space. Much needed type of bar-restaurant in the Lenexa area. Would love to grab beers here on a sunny spring day in their patio space. Liked the refurbished house and bowling lane elements. Negatives: 1. It is very loud in this restaurant. Be prepared for that. 2. I found a piece of melted plastic buried in my Philly Cheesesteak. When I brought this to our waitresses attention, I was not impressed with her response. 3. Staff. I’ve had negative staff experiences at both this Grinders and the original. Staff just never seem that«into» serving. They are kind of gruff and rough around the edges. I don’t need TGIF over the top flare stuff, but just general courtesies. Some of the staff at this location were nice, but some, including our waitress, were quite curt and didn’t seem to give a damn what questions or concerns we had. At the end of the meal, post paid check, I let her know about the melted plastic in my sandwich. She quickly grabbed it and said«give me that and I’ll let the kitchen manager know.» No apology or nothing. We stuck around a few more minutes thinking she’d come back to apologize or have manager talk to us, but nothing happened so we just left. Due to these negatives, 3 out of 4 of us were quite put off by Grinders Stonewall.

Man, what bad things can I say about Grinders Stonewall? Well nothing really. I mean the only thing that it’s lacking from the original location is the crazy décor and entertainment area outside. But it more than makes up for it with it’s own atmosphere. Inside you’re going to find the same, delicious menu that you would down at the Crossroads. The pizza and sandwiches are exactly the same. Where I feel like this place is better is in it’s bar. The beer selection here is top notch. It’s one of my go too’s for craft beer tasting events and harder to find craft beers. I really miss living down south because of Grinders Stonewall, but when I do make it down there, I always try and stop in for a slice and some delicious craft beer.

They are known for their Philly Cheese Steak. It’s delicious! Just had the Large Marge burger with bleu cheese and tots. Wanted it cooked rare… it was perfect. Bartender is friendly, food is fantastic. Leave the kids at home and enjoy this neighborhood gem.

Loved the atmosphere. It’s funky and fun. Great beer on tap & the patio(nice weather permitting) is excellent. We ordered the wings, a chicken bbq pizza, and one with a few toppings. We were afraid of spice, so we ordered the wimpy wings. Great size, but next time we will go a little further into spice town. We LOVED the pizza. Crust was perfect. Flavors were excellent too. Hubs loved the bbq pizza. Service was terrific. We had a very friendly waitress who was very informative and very attentive. We will definitely be returning to try the cheesesteak!

Finally! I tried Grinders. Nothing but cool vibes during reverse happy hour on a weekday night. I would really love to give them 5 stars but, those pesky gnats and mild sewage odor… sigh. However, it didn’t ruin my experience at all! I’ll blame the gnats on all of the alcohol. My husband didn’t smell the odor. Whatever. Maybe the construction nearby has something to do with it. Who knows. Anyways, they have so many beers! My husband was in brew heaven :) One of the gnats got to his beer before he did. We were offered another one but, we saw the bartender pour the gnat off and top off the beer again. Yuck! Without asking, our waitress got us a clean glass with more beer. Thank you!!! She was holding down the bar area by herself and still managed to give us good service(insert applause here)! The prices here are pretty decent. $ 23 for everything with our coupon. I ordered the Baja Burger medium well and, it was cooked perfectly! I didn’t care too much for the homemade chips that came with the burger. We got the wings too with the wimpy sauce. Seriously, that’s what it’s called. I wasn’t in the mood for anything hot, but, I think the wimpy was way to wimpy. I’m not that much of a wimp lol. My husband tried some beers from the«off the menu». He said both were good but, the Slow Ride was his favorite over the Scotch Ale. We’ll be back to try some other items on the menu and more beer of course. We used a coupon from the value pack. 20% off. It can’t be used on alcohol. The coupon expires when they finish construction there at I-35 and Pflumm. Winning… yes!

Hate to be one of those people who always give 5STARS but Grinders was very good. The service was fast, the food delicious and I had a wonderful experience. I went to Grinders at Stonewall on a weeknight. They were very busy so I expected the worst. Although Grinders was packed, the noise level was not bad. You could still talk to your companions without having to shout. The service was super fast even though the menu said my calzone would take 20 minutes. It did not take anywhere near that long. Good was yummy! Portions size was generous and there was plenty to take home. Loved the décor, as well. All around great experience.

The best thing about Grinders is their outdoor space and ambiance for families & kids. Their downfall is low quality food. I ordered their goat cheese salad and the lettuce came wilted. Our family shared the Philly Cheese steak«Gourmet Pizza» which was described on the menu as coming with Red sauce, philly meat, green peppers, onions, mushrooms, provolone, and mozzarella. The cheese that came on our pizza was bright yellow and tasted like velveeta The entire pizza was just bland in my opinion. The menu is fairly large so I would just try something else next time if my family goes again.

While I was excited for Grinder’s to come to JoCo, some of the reviews kept me away because they mentioned crowds, noise, and mediocre service. I guess I can think of other places nearby that are not packed where I get excellent service. Well, finally a friend suggested we meet here for dinner. This was the night of the World Cup Finals, so I anticipated a crowd. It was not crowded at all! We actually sat right in front of a big screen TV so I could see the match. Our server was plenty friendly and attentive. I ordered a whole beef philly made my way, as this is probably my favorite thing to order anywhere. I was underwhelmed after all the hype about Grinder’s cheesesteaks. I had three gristly bites and a couple of fatty bites. While the flavor was decent, and the cheese whiz was delicious, the overall impact of yucky cuts of meat destroy a sandwich for me. I would not order it again. The bun was also just«meh» and nothing memorable. A little dry, actually. That being said, the beer menu is pretty decent and definitely surpasses anything else in this particular part of JoCo, so I would come back for drinks at the bar. I think it is a shame that the locals put up such a fuss to prevent live music. The outdoor space is pretty phenomenal; you cannot really see it from the road, but it would have been great for music.

One of my most frequently asked questions to Kansas Citians is, «Who makes the best cheesesteak in Kansas City??» And, the most frequent answer is, «Grinders!» I often get cheesesteak cravings to satisfy my Philadelphia hometown itch. Well, I can finally say I have tried Grinders, and I was very happy with it! This Grinders location is relatively new, located just outside the city. For me, it is closest to my apartment, and near the mall, so perfect for me! My GPS took me there successfully, although I thought the building was a bit unusual for a restaurant. I entered Grinders for an afternoon lunch and sat at the bar. The place had a pretty cool vibe and there were a lot of people in there. I ordered a cheesesteak with fried onions and cheez whiz. My sandwich came out quickly, probably in about 10 minutes. The sandwich was a good size, definitely not skimpy, as non-Philadelphia cheesesteaks often are. The cheesesteak was not cut in half, which made it a little difficult to eat. I ended up cutting it in half myself and it made it a lot easier to eat. My first bite, I was impressed. Tasted very close to a cheesesteak back home. The cheez whiz was slathered loosely on top — I wish it was either mixed in with the meat or spread on the bottom(which would be a more«authentic» technique). Of course, I ended up mixing the cheese and the meat together myself. The most important part, the bread, was CORRECT. Hallelujah! Amoroso rolls! The roll was lightly toasted, I suspect to conceal the slight staleness of the bread, which didn’t exactly work. I forgive them though, the roll did travel a long way to get there. And I would much rather have a stale Amoroso roll blessing my cheesesteak than some other imposter. Amiss the technical errors, I really enjoyed my cheesesteak, and will most certainly be back. Thank the heavens this place exists to offer their comendable cheesesteak efforts.
